Secret Santa 2022!

@blue_heron,

Ho Ho Ho! An elf was wondering if you could expand on whether you like whole beans or ground beans? Coffee beans that is. Said elf was having a bit of difficulty making an alter and asked my to ask you. This is your opportunity to expand on your coffee preferences.

Ho Ho Ho!!!

Hi, Elf! I don’t have a bean grinder (though this is on the list of appliances I will own one day), so grounds much preferred! I make my coffee in a stovetop percolator (like the camp-out kind) so coursely ground beans are best but I also use fine grounds for a drip coffee machine and just add a filter-- it’s just as good!

Oh, @ParadoxFarm! After getting some events and Thanksgiving squared away, your elf is ready to tackle secret santa. You gave me some great ideas that I hope to run with this weekend, but I wanted to let you know we are on the job!

SS etiquette question: I have some apparel that I think my giftee could use in a new venture. How would you feel about recieving second hand clothes? They were mine, not from a thrift shop. Maybe a bit out of the ordinary but I doubt I will wear them again and if giftee could… Thanks!

Hi @MapleBreeze, Christmas elf here! What genre of scents is your favorite? Floral and clean? Warm and spicy? Strong and herbal? Do you hate things that smell like food? Would you rather something you can use multiple times or something to save for a special occasion or a relaxing night in? Your input would be appreciated!

Also, what size is the pony that could use a browband? Elf-size? Sleigh-pulling size? Somewhere in the middle?

Could you send your Giftee their SS package with a note about said clothes? Give them the opportunity to say yes or no?

If it were me, I would be down to receive a box of second hand clothes.

I was thinking of just including them anyway (what am I going to do with them?) with a note saying feel free to donate if they aren’t to their taste.

I think that would be perfect @JBCool. I would be very happy to receive some decent second hand clothes.

I like floral and clean for the body. Wax melts and candles can smell like food though. Something I can use maybe once a week but not every day.

The bling browband is for a dutch warmblood but I think she has a more horse/warmblood mare refined head - she’s not giant or oversized. If you want to fb stalk her she’s on my cover page.

Thanks for checking in.

Discipline dressage.
That is my discipline, too.
Have some more questions.

You like diamond bling?
Or do you like more black bling?
Horse has black and white.

Breed looks good in both.
Rider has many options!
Diamonds or onyx?

Or do you care?
Trying to hone in on gift.
I get the sparkly.

So many options.
Want to get somethings you’d love.
Honing in on gift.

Thanks for your Haiku reply!!!

What about winter,
I’m a former Pittsburgher,
I get cold weather.

Houston TX, too.
I have warm weather creds, too.
Any particular needs?

I’m asking so much.
Want to throw you off the trail.
I’ll make a purchase.

You won’t know in what category!!

Ah, Pittsburgh weather!
Here I have lake effect snow
But otherwise close

I have lots of gear
But good winter gloves are good!
Those can be tricky.

Merry Mystery Christmas, RC_amp_W!

Welcome to the Chronicle of the Horse’s weird, wonderful Secret Santa event! As you are a bit of a mystery to me, tell me more about yourself? Is there anything in particular you could use in your dressage endeavors? Things beyond the usual generic white pad and black gloves type gifts? What do you and your equine (or other) companions like? What do you need?

Thanks for any hints you care to give me!
