Hey all… Just wondering if enough of them are out there yet that we have an idea of the type of jumping “form” he’s throwing… Or if that’s even consistent. I have no doubt that they are athletic, but are they going to have the right style for the Hunter ring???

If you look on www.warmbloods-for-sale.com and so a search by Sempatico there are several older offspring with jumping pics on there. There is a yearling being put through a chute (I don’t agree with this one!) on there too. Same thing with youtube.
My yearling loves jumping the irrigation ditches in the pasture. He jumped the 5’ gate from a standstill in his stall last week when he decided he was done being in. :mad:

He’s Mr. In Your Pocket and loves attention. He’s generally very easy going and smart. He’s built like a tank.
This is him last month when he turned a year old.

My experience
I just had a 6 YO Sempatico X Tb gelding in my barn. The horse was “dressage” trained and “evented” some. He was just one tough customer. He was fine over fences up to 3’-3’3", but you never felt any sort of use of his body. When asked to do something new, he was very hard-headed and spooky. While I can not say anything about Sempaticos in general, there’s one thing for sure: this cross did not work.

Long story short, we HAD a wonderful Art Deco filly that, unfortunately, we lost to colic last fall… :sadsmile: So, even tho we REALLY don’t need another horse, I’ve been poking around for another Pinto WB and have seen a number of attractive young Sempatico babies… So, was just curious about what people are experiencing.

I guess you have something wrong here!
There cannot be any 6 year old Sempatico in USA as the 6 and 5 year olds are born in Germany. He bred only one TB mare here in Germany and that foal was not sold nor exported.
He was exported to USA at the end of 2004 so his first breeding season in the USA can only be 2005 which has the first foals born 2006 so the oldest can only be 3 this year if I am doing my maths correctly!
A breeder friend of mine has a 2yr old and yearling by Sempatico. They are both very athletic, however, both TB dams are well bred and athletic individuals, and they were raised on 17 acres of pasture, so gallavanting around is their way of life 
However, the 2 yr old is stubborn, the yearling gelding is great…they seem to take after their mothers in that regard. Neither is anything close to spooky; they are rather bold. They both love to jump, their turnout is divided by 4’ wppd/PVC fencing, and when caught galloping around too fast with eachother crammed into one corner, they just hopped over to the next field without a thought. They have very nice dams, one who evented up to training/prelim by the age of 7 and then was semi-retired due to an unfortunate injury (encounter with a fence), so they aren’t just a product of their sire. Pretty cool (though annoying! for their owner) to see them jumping from pasture to pasture, but I can’t say enough about their dams…
His first foals
Sempatico’s first foals born in the USA where in 2005 and are just turning 4 this year. So Andras whatever you had in your barn was either a 3 year old Sempatico or by some other stallion. If a 3 year old I wouldn’t blame them for being “one tough customer” if being asked to do over 3’ courses :eek:
I had several of his first foals, they are all now with other owners and the owners do keep in touch with me. They have gotten rave reviews with their attitudes being started under saddle and the few that have started jumping work have done very well. I will be very excited to see how they do in the future, I think they will excel in a multitude of disciplines.

I have a 3 year old that I just started last month. He has been WONDERFUL!!!. He is everything I had dreamed of when I bred my mare to Sempatico. His temperment deffinatly came from dad. I have heard nothing but good thing’s about his babies. Today I will be taking mine on his first trail ride. :winkgrin:
My Sempatico colt is super easy going, not spooky at all. He’s shy though, I posted yesterday about him here. He’s going to be a one person horse I believe.
He’s 12 months now. I don’t plan on gelding him anytime soon. He’s super polite about everything. When he sees me heading towards him he draws up his business and hides it. Good boy.
He is very thoughtful and level headed. I would buy another one in heartbeat. He has a canter to die for. Lovely mover.
He’s out of a nice 17 hand Dutch mare. He looks like he’ll be 17.2 ish.

I have a Sempatico colt this year out of one of my best producing TB mares. I love that he is the only colt that ever stood up to his mom (his mom is known here as mommy dearest). He is not spooky and loves attention. I would call him bold and maybe sensitive (sentive from mom, all of her babies are that way and I like it, not dull at all). She has produced a Top PA hunter both in-hand and now Green Hunter under saddle (incidently, that boy is Red Deco by Art Deco) so I feel this colt could easily do the hunters as well. He has that super hind end action from dad (and mom has that too) but got a flatter knee from mom with huge reach! I really could see him being successful at almost anything. I’d love for an eventer to get him. We bred the mare back to Sempatico to get a full sibling next year (she is infoal, yea).
You know, I TOTALLY spaced it! My friend rides and shows a 4 year old Sempatico at the training barn down the road. DUH!! Here he is. Hopefully she doesn’t care I posted his pics. She has them on her facebook so it’s probably fine. :lol:

I apologize if it was a misinformation. As it is often the case, I am relying on the information that the particular owner provides to me on a training horse. Let me do a little investigation on the matter. I also believe I stated clearly that 1 individual does not and can not represent the get of the sire as a whole (actually it more of a representative of the mother and how the foal was raised).

How the foal was raised … big issue.
Lots of people buy foals because they are cheaper but are clueless about raising them. They stick them in a pipe corral and turn them out in a round pen for half an hour.
This happens in Southern California.

I have a yearling Sempatico colt out of a mare who is a tank (the mare, not the colt). He is VERY leggy, and has natural jump in him. I haven’t jumped him, but he’s gone over quite a few things on his own :lol: My babies are raised on big pastures with ditches and hills, so he is choosing to jump for fun. He is pretty naturally tight and up with the knees, if that helps. He is bold and outgoing and friendly - of course, the mare is too, so it could come from either side on this breeding.
And Liz is fabulous to work with!
