- Wear good fitting, 100% cotton undies.
- Jeans are not your friend.
- Avoid nylon britches.
- Stretchy cotton riding tights are great - they’re non-clingy and practically seamless.
- Even if you WANT to wear a smaller size in your britches, don’t attempt it or you will be VERY sorry.
I know it’s a really long time later but I just found this thread and just ordered the recommended underwear…
.
}}}}Lovepat underwear has no seams in the crotch area, only on the sides. It is the same as the $12 underwear you see in the catalogs, the tan ones with the horse logo. Lovepats are $5 a three pack at Kmart, and come in all sorts of patterns, material and colors. They streeeeach, so if you are between sizes, size down.{{{{
This underwear is now only available online under a new name:

I used to be a fan of the Lovepats, thanks for reminding me about them!
Recently I have been wearing the Duluth Trading Company ‘Buck Naked’ line: http://women.duluthtrading.com/store/womens/womens-underwear/womens-underwear-base-layers.aspx
There is a crotch seam but it is a flat seam and hasn’t caused any problems. I have not tried them under show breeches to see if it’s visible.

When I was a kid I used a bareback pad with an Icelandic long hair sheepskin sewed onto to it. The wool quickly shaped itself to my custom shape. No stirrups, wild and free with no rubs or ouchies. I even sewed some beads and feathers into it. This was in the wild and free hippy days.
