Show Hunter Bridles

Hello friends, I am in the market for a show bridle for my show hunter, and I’m looking at Nunn Finer and Hadfield. Would love some thoughts about these two brands. Note that I am passing on Jimmy’s for now. Thank you!

Either one will be fine. Usually a cheaper bridle is made of leather of less quality. So be ready to clean the bridle often (taking it apart every so often) with quality soap and even treat it with warm Neatsfoot (sp) oil. Once softened and darkened your bridle will look like the ones costing 3x as much

So I don’t own a Nunn Finer bridle, but all of their products I’ve seen and felt in tack stores are REALLY nice. They were my first brand of choice when I was shopping for a new bridle over the summer, but they didn’t have an option with the crownpiece I really needed. I’m very impressed with their quality.

Huge difference in quality and price between these two. If you can afford something as nice as a Hadfield I wouldn’t bother with the NF.

There is a new start up that has a beautiful bridle at a good price since this is the first run. I bought the figure 8 and am really impressed. The leather is high quality and the stitching is beautiful. The rubber reins are soft and have a great hand feel.
Take a look you won’t be disappointed. The customer service was phenomenal too. I had the bridle in two days. This is definitely a company to watch as the product line expands.

I just got this one: https://greenhawk.com/en/bridles/16560-mondega-coretto-wide-noseband-hunter-bridle.html

Feels very nice for the money. I’d say closest to the Dyon dupe

The link didn’t work for me?

Granted, I don’t own one but I’ve never been impressed with the Dyon bridlework I’ve felt.

Wow, already sold out except in Extra Full for the hunter style…

You can sign up to be notified when they come in.

@lcw579 how does the leather look once it’s oiled? Does it darken up?

The bridle darkened to a really rich color. It looks so nice I hate to put it on the horse’s dusty winter face!

I have Edgewood, Hadfield’s, Henry James (dressage), Nunn Finer, and a KL Select. There’s no competition for my favorite. Edgewood beats all of them.

For whatever reason the link works on my phone but not my computer. Some kind of security issue with the website.

Do you (or anyone else) know if the reins on the Xfull are the standard 54" or if they are longer? I sent a message through the website, but I figured you might know. If not, that’s ok. If they are longer I think I am going to try one of these. If you like it, that’s a good enough recommendation for me!

The length of the reins on the x-full is 58”. I think you’ll be happy with this bridle. I tried a Dyon on this summer (it didn’t fit right) and I like this leather much better.
