This is the In-Gate bridle? Looks great! Love that it’s not that waxy, coated leather.
Yes! Me too!!! I have high hopes for it. Hope it fits.
Fits. Oiling it and will report back after some use. I really like it!
Initial reports upon use- mixed bag. The leather is nice. So is the stitching.
Upon closer inspection during the pre use oiling, I discovered some sloppy pieces that are cut differently (some ends are rounded and some are pointed).
One area I didn’t measure because in all my years of owing multiple horses it’s never been a fit issue on any of them was the throat latch. It’s short. Freaky short. Like would be short on a pony short. And this bridle is the extra full. I can’t explain why it’s so short, it almost seems like an error? It’s bizarre.
The other measurements are about as expected. Once it’s broken in the nosepiece will need another hole punched. I expected that. I want it to soften up and flatten a bit before I do that. All other measurements seem like an extra full.
Photos show a singe light oiling. I like to use it for a couple weeks and then give it a deep oil after the pores have opened more from daily use and cleaning.
I did message the owner to ask whether the throatlatch is really supposed to be this short?!
All in all, I think it’s ok for the price. The inconsistent cut of ends I can handle for a bridle of this price. The bizarro fit I can’t. Because of that I wouldn’t get another and I don’t think I could use this one for anything but schooling.
Jimmy is going to send me a replacement piece when his next batch of bridles comes in. Nice guy, happy ending for me!!! But FYI that if you get from this batch you may find the throat latch short.
I know it’s a small thing, but the martingale comes with a stopper and that made me unrealistically happy
Just curious as to how the leather is breaking in.
Beautifully. It’s that perfect not-too-stiff and not-too-ropey leather.
I’m so glad it’s turning out to be a great bridle. I cannot wait to order one! I’m on the waitlist and obsessively checking the website.
Same!
This is my go to “schooling bridle” recommendation from now on, assuming the fit issue gets ironed out. Very happy with the quality overall.
Boy, that’s turned out pretty. Thanks for sharing.
They are back in stock, but I’m wondering how wide the reins are.
I just tried to order one and it says they’re reserved. I’ve been on the waitlist, so I emailed the company. I’m dying for one of these!
Because I’m on the waitlist, I got an email that said you must click through the email to order. Check your spam.
The reins are 3/4 inch, by the way.
Thanks! I emailed the company and they got back to me very quickly saying they are sending out small batches of emails with links in the order in which people were added to the waitlist. I’m super impressed with their customer service. Hoping they don’t sell out before I get to order. I have a ridiculous addiction to bridles and am dying to try this. Do I need another bridle, absolutely not….
I also have a ridiculous addiction to bridles (I hate to think of how many I actually have), and it’s so tempting to order one! They look beautiful!
I have a Richard Castelow hunter bridle (purchased at a painfully higher price point several years ago ) and the similarity in the design and look is remarkable! Pretty!
