Show Jumping Individual Finals on Fri., 8/19

Order of go: https://www.rio2016.com/en/equestrian-jumping-individual-final-round-a

First round starts at 10am local so 9am EST/6am PST. Lucy goes 18th, McLain 27th, and Kent 32nd.

Medal round starts at 1:30pm local so 12pm EST/9:30am PST.

Who’s your pick for the gold medal? I’d love McLain to have his day, but Kent and Voyeur have been so consistent!

I can’t wait to watch - so many riders and horses have performed so well this week! I will be holding my breath for the US riders. I came into this thinking McLain and Annie were my likely picks, and with her scope and two courses tomorrow, they may still be. But Kent and Voyeur have really looked in peak form, and you know he will go for it. Not to mention, what a week Eric Lamaze and Fine Lady have had!! So, I’m looking forward to seeing who’s day it is tomorrow!

i’m almost looking forward to the end of this bc i’m running out of excuses for my less than impressive performance at work as i am flipping my attention back and forth between the live feed and my job!

All horses passed the jog today.

Everyone’s score resets to 0 faults. After the first round, the top 20 return for a second round and will jumpoff if there are any ties for medals after both rounds.

I am so happy Eric is going last!! I was hoping his top finish would place him last in the order to go.

Of course, I want Eric to win… if he can’t, then McLain, but I don’t know why, I don’t care for Kent… Good rider, but not my favourite.

Then the French, but I feel they have enough medals!!!

Be nice to see a woman with individual gold. I am blanking on whether that has yet to happe…I don’t think so?

all horses passed the jog, and looked frisky as ever- but a couple of the riders looked pretty worn out!

Hasn’t happened yet but no reason it couldn’t happen tomorrow. I love Lucy Davis and MMB but admit Lucy is unlikely to win gold in her first Olympics.

Meredith is definitely in contention with how well Nacho has been jumping. Luciana and Fit for Fun are back on form, Tiff and Hugo have never jumped so well and Barron is such a top class horse that he and Lucy shouldn’t be counted out.

It looks like a woman has won individual silver, but not gold

MMB’s horse looked great this week. With Beezie out of contention, MMB might have the best shot to be the first woman at the top of the podium.

OMG. Matt Williams and Jerome Guery are still in it. Good luck, you guys! While I am rooting wholeheartedly for Azur, I could never pick a winner out of this crop. Although I am partial to a few. -cough - Big Star -cough - Zenith.

Because if she does Marcus Beerbaum will be sleeping on the couch for the next four years!

I’m absolutely obsessed with Azur so I hope that Mclain can pull it off. The way she’s jumped this week it certainly looks possible!! Mclain definitely has a great history with superstar mares!

I’d be so thrilled if MMB were on the podium. I met her one year at Wellington and she’s so lovely in person and on a horse. She was born American so I can still root for her

Emerald is jumping amazing and I think he’s a great horse. You can never count out Bosty and he’s had an incredible week so far. Luciana and Fitty are favorites of mine. Nobody loves her horses as much as Luciana and it shows with how much that little mare tries. Lucy and Kent look on fire as well! I’d love an American top 3 but I doubt that’ll happen.

I wouldn’t count Edwina out either. Her and Tequila have had a pretty good showing so far. I could see her in the top three.

Stroller the pony won individual silver with Marion Coakes in 1968. I saw them compete at MSG.

Before the Olympics began, I thought McLain for sure (especially having seen him ride in person at Devon). However, despite the one time fault last time he rode, I’m starting to wonder if it might be Kent’s day tomorrow. Like others have said, his consistency in Rio is a clear point in his favor.

Not counting out Eric Lamaze, either.

I also thought McLain and Azur were going to be the gold medalists but there are just so many great horse/rider combinations I have no clue. You have to wonder if Kent and Eric can continue jumping clear rounds, the law of averages is bound to catch up with them sooner or later. I hope I didn’t just jinx anyone though.

Eric for me.

I´m rooting for the Swedes. With a bit of luck Peder Fredricson and All In is a real contender for the gold (only got one timefault so far).

Quite nice article in british Horse & Hound on Peder here: http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/rio-2016-olympics-news/peder-fredricson-swedish-showjumper-million-589250

Henrik Von Eckerman is unlikely to win gold, not enough experience in his mare Yajamila. Just wish he goes on to the top 20

Hoping the Brits can pull an individual medal out of the hat! Nick’s horse looks in great form just not quite pulled it together yet and Tic Tac has been getting better and better for Ben. I suppose it’s an advantage that their horses have had a bit more of a break than the others… we’ll just have to see.
