Eh, maybe. But when she said his PR team seems to be working to get him on the team, I figured she meant that his PR team seemed to be working towards getting him on the team. I’m not in PR so I was wondering how that works, but if she meant something else I guess it doesn’t matter.
Of course. My question was how does an instagram post written by a PR team get someone to the Olympics. Nobody seems to be able to answer that question so I think it’s time to move on.
Nobody said that so there’s not going to be an answer. I think you’re taking Rel6 post way too literally.
Karl rides well.
His PR team is more than happy to put that out in front of people so he’s more noticeable.
Karl’s riding alone will get him on the team.
“I think Karl has done a great job of making it harder and harder to justify leaving him off the team (and his PR team seems to be working to that end too), but also it’s incredibly hard to justify leaving McLain, Laura, or Kent off. It’s a great problem for the US to have and I’ll be interested to see what happens.”
Karl’s success is making a strong case for his place on the team. His PR team is highlighting that success to keep it present in everyone’s mind as team selection approaches. I’m not sure what is confusing about that.
So let’s all put Ridland’s hat on: If the choices are Karl, Laura, Kent or McLain. Who would you pick as the top 3? Currently, I’d go with Karl, Kent and McLain. I’d like to put Laura in instead of McLain but I just have this sense that he would come through on the day in his magical McLain way. But I would feel very bad about having her be number 4. Just pondering this choice. . . . .
Does anyone know when they have to pick by? I thought I read the 5th or 7th.
Ridland has said he will choose on the 7th which is the last day of Aachen. As Aachen is part of the Rolex Grand Slam it will be interesting to see who he chooses for the Nations Cup class and which horses the riders will choose to use. Do they save their topper for the big money class? If it rains will some of the old reliables be hesitant to go on the grass? So many questions. I just need my Ilex fix. That horse is so darn entertaining! He almost gets McLain to make faces.
For me, Laura is the one I most want to see get a team spot. Then I think it’s a bit of a toss up for where Kent, McLain, and Karl fall for the last two team spots vs the alternate spot.
Thanks! Is there somewhere I can stream this?
CMH TV has it.
I’d pick Laura over Mclain but maybe Mclain over Kent. Laura’s horse actually has a great record and championship experience. So I guess currently I’d have Mclain, Laura and Karl.
The caveat is McClain, Kent and Karl would need to be in Rolex GP and if say Karl bombed, or if Greya or Callas really stepped up that would change my selection. When looking on Jumpr the only horse/rider combo with that key 1.60m plus experience was Laura and Baloutinue
GB has formulated a plan.
Did they designate one of the four as an alternate? I didn’t see it but wasn’t sure if I was missing something.
I haven’t seen where they have outright designated the ALT.
But I assume its Joseph? Mostly because almost every presser I’ve read he’s listed 4th.
However, I could be totally wrong. This is just my assumption.
Here’s the Canadian team. It appears that, like everything, it depends how you score. They left Tiffany Foster as reserve and are sending Erynn, Amy and Mario. Tiffany is the highest ranking female show jumper according to FEI. Erynn with MLSJ. https://horsesport.com/horse-news/team-canadas-jumping-team-named-for-paris/
Hm. I had assumed all the Canadian ladies were a done deal.
I would guess that if Tiffany had Figor or Hamilton to take she probably would have been on the team. I’m guessing they had some soundness issues? Figure was back showing but only in the 1.30m at Third I think. And I can’t remember if I’ve even seen Hamilton in the results at Spruce Meadows. So the only horse she had to take was Battlecry who is a bit green for the level
Baloutinue is amazing and Laura is terrific. As much as I like Karl, I would take Kent over him, he has more experience at this level, I would keep Karl as the traveling reserve with McLain taking the final spot on the team.
