Show Jumping!

True, and I suppose they wouldn’t want to antagonize such a great sponsor as A.W. but it’s obvious that Bezzie can ride as well as ever, so it obviously comes down to the horses. I doubt Ms.Wexner is a dummy.

When the team was named I thought that perhaps there was some niggling issue with one of the horses and they were just trying take some time before the Olympics.

I do realize that they aren’t required to tell us their reasoning for choosing the pairs they choose, I just wondered if there had been any light on the subject since the selections.

The other pairs out performed Beezie and her mounts at the selection trials. Breitling and Darry Lou seemed maybe a tad off form in the observation events. I think it was just one of those timing things where Beezie didn’t quite have the right horse ready at the right time.

Hm. Breitling just won some big thing, I recall reading. Maybe he has a consistency issue? I don’t know. I haven’t seen Darry Lou or even really heard about him, he doesn’t seem ready.

I think the top placings are quite bunched with several less consistent pairs near the top. Hoping for the best! McLain is just 1.8 off the leader I think…that is two time faults or a rail.

but Steve Guerdat and Bianca—what a pair! That mare is unbelievable. What I adore about SG is that he seems to gallop to the base and the mares he rides just do the rest consistently. Most horses you rode that strongly to the base would have some front rails but his have the most beautiful bascule. I wish he would write a gymnastic book! The training is real there.

Does anyone know why team competition started today? It says this time team competition is being held over 3 rounds instead of the usual 2?

The mare has always had that jump from the very begining, she just used to be quite a bit more uncoorperative about getting to the jump. She was certainly one that you had to let get her way a bit and Steve has done an amazing job brining her along. Honestly part of Steve’s secret is that his horses are almost always freaky careful like Nino and Bianca so it’s not so much about the distance to the jumps as it is managing them intbetween. He’s such a lovely tactful rider

you can probably download the NbCsports or Olympic channel app on your phone and then cast it to your tv or laptop. I have a smart tv so I’ve been casting from FEI.TV from iPhone to TV. I did the yearly membership and weg pass.

I don’t have FEI TV or Cable TV but I can access Olympic TV through YouTube TV on my Roku. Great coverage yesterday! I wish I’d known sooner, maybe I could have watched eventing too…

OK, I don’t know anything about show jumping, I follow eventing mostly. I watch a bit of it on tv, mostly they show nations cups. Those are easy to follow, but I don’t know or understand what they are doing here. I understand this is a speed round? What did they do yesterday? What comes up next? Do they still have to swap horses at the end?

I am not watching today, but yesterday was a speed round, with the faults converted format. Each rail, instead of adding four faults, adds four seconds to the time. So a blazing fast round with a rail can beat a slower, clear round.

They don’t do the horse swap for the final four anymore. It was fun to watch, but it takes a lot out of the horses. Plus these horses are so valuable. So it has been phased out.

Beezie and Breitling won the world cup final in Paris in April. The observation events were over the summer.

Maybe that’s part of the new format? I know they have eliminated the swapping horses of the top four in the individual championship, so maybe they decided to add an extra round to the team competition? I’m just guessing though.

Tough course today! That line with the triplebar is really taking its toll.

Beautiful ride by Age and Cristalline!

Woo hoo, great ride from Adrienne! Her mare is just phenomenal. Just a time fault! The Americans are bringing it today, looks like Devin had a single rail.

And the triple combination is so short! you can see how careful the horses are, they are really trying their hearts out to leave that last vertical up. Really amazing quality of horses!

He had a foot in the water, horse jumped great otherwise.

Eddie Blue had an unlucky foot in the water. Adrienne and Cristalline were amazing, that mare is a competitor and Adrienne rode with a real purpose today!!

upthread, someone was wondering about whether or not, this was being shown live on the Olympic channel. I don’t know about yesterday, but it is today. However, live, sin’t quite ‘live’. It is about 5 minutes behind. Don’t know why.
BTW, where can I find the order of go? Or results? Can’t find them at all on WEG site.:frowning:

Hmmm, ok. Maybe I’ll try again today at noon. I’m at work so just trying to load something on my phone to sneakily watch. I can follow a bit on Twitter and here, but I’d really love to see the actual rides! I should have taken vacation lol!
