Show me your dressage ponies, please!

Ok let’s see them!

My kids have an awesome 14hh mutt pony who I adddooooorrreeee, and I dream of turning him into my dressage mount, despite the fact that I am 5’8.

Nothing to show here, but DO IT! I want to live vicariously through you and your dressage pony!

(I hope that works)

This is my 4.5 year old Connemara/Appendix cross. Currently being brought back into work after the winter off to grow. Last fall he was pretty solid W/T/C and beginning to offer a nice training level frame. No pictures of him moving, but I wanted to share since we are talking ponies and my goals are at least to compete him though second level. He is 14.2 (and a half) and I am 5’7".

He is super cute, Displaced Yankee, and you look great on him!!

Here’s my guy being ridden by a teen last year (thanks Amy Dragoo for the photo)

Rider is 5’6, he’s 14.3 ConnemaraX. I am 5’ even but leggy, and he’s the perfect size for me.

Not mine but I love an excuse to watch it:

I love your pony, FG, and I think you should totally do it!!!

I’m loving my pony, even though she’s not yet a “dressage” pony. I have about 20 rides on her and here’s a video of her first working session on my trails (previously used for just a walking cool-out). https://youtu.be/ypbJqo1sl1s

Right now I just ride her in my jumping saddle and we hack about, going forward and basic wtc, whoa, turn/bend. I’ll probably start some dressage lessons with her this summer.

I’m about 5’5", depending on whether or not I stand up straight.

Trot work from a few years back at a clinic w/ Robert Zandvoort - 13hh Spanish Mustang mare that wasn’t started under saddle until she was 10yr. For height reference I’m 5’4". Dressage ponies rock, I have a POA stallion I’m about to start :)))

No pictures, but lady at a local barn recently bought a 3 or 4 year old by North Fork’s Cardi that I saw at a schooling show. And oh. my. gosh. was that the cutest thing I’d ever seen! She was only about 13hh but moved so well and she was so well behaved the whole time! And her face–she didn’t even look real she was so pretty! If I wasn’t 5’6" I would’ve snuck over and stolen her in the middle of the night!

Gorgeous! Even the bird thought so.

Pocket Pony, do you know the breeding on your pony? She is really well proportioned. Lovely

Here’s my little egg, Henry.

He’s about 13.1/13.2 ish. I’m 5’2’’. He’s just a doll, and smart as a whip, so it’s too bad that he’s a little conformationally challenged, because he has the brain for dressage.

Depending on the angle, I can look a bit big on him sometimes, as he’s very narrow. But I am much more comfortable on him, size-wise, than I am on my beefy 15.2 QH.

Saddle fit is a challenge, as he’s your typical round little pony but NOT wide, so he needs a narrow hoop-style tree. (Not the usual hoop tree market.) I ride him in a County CC, and a little Thornhill pony dressage saddle.

Hoping to show 1st this year.

Video to show off his cute little trot

Of course I do! I bought her from exvet (her breeder), who is a COTHer. She is 3/4 Welsh Cob and 1/4 Morgan.

Here’s her most recent picture.

FlashGordon - I’d love to see pics of your mutt pony! He sounds adorable and you should totally do turn him into your dressage mount!

I’m 5’7" and I ride a very wide bodied 13.2H Icelandic. I usually look like a giant on ponies, but I don’t look quite as big on him. I mostly trail ride, but I participate in some dressage clinics during the summer.

I hope this link works. This is early spring so he still has his winter scruff. His summer coat is extra sleek

Oooh these ponies are all so great!!

PocketPony, I really miss chatting with you on TOB! Your mare is so lovely, sounds like you are really enjoying her.

Here’s a few pics of our wee guy. He was purchased for $200 at New Holland last February and was not even halter broke! He was also quite sick. A friend fostered him and got him going under saddle, then he came to us to put some miles on him. Of course, now he is never leaving. My daughter has done most of the work with him herself. He’s got a phenomenal brain. He is perhaps my most favorite creature on the planet.

Flash, gosh he is cute! Amberkez that is a nice mare. All are just adorable ponies. Don’t think I will ever go pony but I do like smaller horses! Riding my two siblings (WBs) gelding is huge solid 16.2 and his sister is solid but only 15.2, she is so much easier than he is to ride! As I get older anything over 16hh is just too big IMO, with me at 5’7.

![]('ve pretty much been pony jock my entire life. At 5’2" that’s not too hard to do even when you’re 52 years old. Here is a picture of my 13 hand section C welsh pony of cob type gelding. We’re schooling intermediate. I have a section D welsh cob who is 2 and will top out right around 14.1. I hope to get him to FEI too some day.

I am going to die. Is that… a mule pony? Or does he just have the best ears imaginable? Be still, my beating heart.

Whispering … so I just bought another one  He’s not technically a pony as he’s 15.1, but GRP. My first ever trained horse … I’m sort of over the moon! Photos to come in a couple of months once I figure out how to actually ride him lol.

I also have my 15H ISR mare (Hann/TB/Welsh) and a 15H AQHA.

I’m all about the tiny dressage horses!

Not a dressa![](e pony yet. My still very green Lippitt morgan mare (14h), Daisy.
