Sick cat Updated, doing much better!

My Ivy kitty is sick :frowning:

Not eating, nasty behind that smells worse than cat poo should, throwing up green stuff and lethargic. She goes into the vet this afternoon.

She’s been a bit off for a week or so, but got significantly worse over the weekend.

Update:

Blood work looks OK. Sugar is a bit high, vet thinks it’s from stress. He got all the hard stool cleaned out and she’s still on IV fluids. I should be able to bring her home tomorrow.

We’ll keep her on laxatives’ to keep things moving and try to get some weight back on her. If she doesn’t gain weight, then we’ll re-assess the problem.

2nd Update:

We had a weight check yesterday. She’s gained 2 lbs, still has a couple to go. Her ideal body weight is 10-11 lbs and she’s currently 8.5. She’s eating well, pooping and peeing normally. I think we are out of the woods. Her tortitude is back and she’s her normal snarky/friendly self.

I hate to say it but that nasty green stuff is familiar. Gall bladder, and it was fast. Came from nowhere.

Mighty jingles to you and Ivy.

Jingling for Ivy!!!

I’m hoping she’s treatable, but I’m also preparing for “the decision”.

She’s had issues off and on her whole life, and they are becoming more frequent as she gets older. I don’t think she’s going to make it to old, but I’m hoping we have a couple more years. She just turned 8.

Thanks everyone! Ivy is very constipated and dehydrated. She’s spending the night at the vet for fluids and manual expression of constipation. He’s also going to run blood work to see what her organ function looks like. Poor girl has also lost 3 lbs in the last month or so :frowning:

She should feel better in the morning after the fluids and poop removal.

Thomas was constipated and on medicine the last two years of his life. He sure did feel miserable when he was.

Poor Ivy. I hope blood work doesn’t reveal anything else or if so, it’s manageable.

Still jingling for Ivy… and you.

I hope she feels better, she can’t feel much worse :frowning:
She didn’t fuss at all in the carrier and she didn’t bite the vet, so she’s feeling really bad. This is a cat that pushes out of soft carriers by busting the seams. The first time she saw this vet, she drew blood, even after I warned him that she bites. This time she didn’t even growl :frowning:
