I can’t believe the Saudi Arabian horse got through the triple combination!! Wow - what an amazing horse!!! A tad of a runaway, however…
Looks like all that money was well spent for the Saudi’s.
To clarify, they do start accumulating scores now? As in todays scores will carry over to the next round etc. all the way through to the end.
Did I just see the french rider jump the last one with only one rein???
Reminds me I have to check my tack!
I can’t believe that Saudi horse got over the yellow triple with only one rail. WOW - WHAT A HORSE!!! A bit of a runaway, however… But, I’d take him…
How does the order of go work?
YOWSER! So did I!! This is NOT the place for an equipment failure!!!
Ehning had 4 - but it was a brilliant ride…

Without any nationalist feelings, just looking at how the horses did yesterday I think it will be a match between Nick Skelton, McLain, Steve Guerdat, Meredith and Rolf-Goran Bengtsson! I wish that RGB had Ninja with him though, would have been nice to retire him with an olympic gold![/QUOTE]
Yiak! was so sure of McLain and Antares but that water has put them out of the medals…
Dumb question. When a horse kicks the hind legs back over the fence–is that trained in or inbred?
Ugh toooo bad about the water jump!
McClain is such a pretty rider…

There is A LOT more jumping left to do for individual medals so don’t count McLain out just yet!!
But if there’s anyone from the US that’s in the running for an individual medal, my money is on Rich and Flexible…
Very basic question! Is today both individual and team? Will any faults count towards the individual score?

What about Rich Fellers and Flexible?! I would be SHOCKED if they did not make a strong bid for a medal.

Today’s and yesterday’s faults will be added for individuals. Only today’s scores count for teams (top 3 scores from each team count so a 4 person team will drop the worst score).
Yes, all the rounds count towards the individual and each round narrows down the number that will compete in the final round. I believe there are 5 rounds total for the indiduals.

Sorry forgot about him, how could I…
Still thinks the medallists will have to do clear rounds all thru…

Breeding mostly I would say, you can train that to a certain degree but there are horses born with a jump like a hinge.
Pretty much natural - you can see it when you are free schooling three yr olds, and the top jumper people always look at the hind end before the front end, because you can fix the front, but not the hind.
But, I suppose there are ways…

Individual riders get a clean slate at the start of round 4, so as long as Mclain puts in a solid round tomorrow and manages to get in the top 35, the foot in the water won’t keep him out of medal contention.

Oops hope you´re not mad at my comment… yes easier to train front than hind but possible to do better without not-so-nice-methods. My horse for example was a bit too ambitious and got scared and “pinched” her backlegs. But with exercises and keeping the jumps at a lower level she now opens up nicely doing the 1,40.
