If it’s top 25 but only 3 from a country it takes out 2 GER, 2 Brits, 2 NZ and Phlilp and Jessica move into the top 25 and jump. Is that right?
Yes, I think so :).

No love for the Germans on here. They are an awesome equestrian machine. I tip my hat to them… Well done.
Just rooting for the home team.
No disrespect meant.
The Germans were very deserving.

They deserve their second team Gold, no doubt. I just couldn’t help pull for GB to win at home especially with the incredible support shown at Greenwich park and how all five riders put in amazing performances on all three phases. TWO POINTS! grr.

I love the Germans! I drive a German car, all my kitchen appliances are German. Love me some German efficiency just not when it is put to good use on the final day of an Olympic Three Day Event.

Ah sure they do, they just got over it a long time ago!

Wasn’t it European Puritans who populated the US way back when?? The “saints” sailed over to the US and left the “sinners” behind.;)
Too funny. and true! Where do you think we got our Puritans?

(Although the point of style (or more accurately, what we Americans think is style) over substance has been seen here in the horse world in the show ring & certainly in foxhunting).

It’s a mare- even better you might argue! I know the dam is apparently La Fair…

Edit just checked on the official page and yes, Swedish Warmblood.
Oooh, so she can have babies! Thanks. I love me a Swede.

We didn’t win, we came second. The germans won.
Getting a silver medal at the Olympics is winning.

One of the commenters said that a woman has never won individual gold in eventing? Is that true?
That is true. Women have won individual silver and bronze however.

agreed.

Am I not finding Boyd Martin in the results for the team jumping? Did he ride?

Thanks for answering, Kalidascope! I can now go to work with a mind unmuddled:cool:

Withdrew Otis this am

FROM COTH:

Boyd Martin has made a statement about Otis Barbotiere’s condition. “As the first out yesterday I was a bit worried about slipping, and maybe we over studded a little bit. I think he’s got a bit of a sprained ankle. We thought he was improving this morning, and he looked OK on the way down, but on that hard ground on the way back he was pretty sore. It was in Otis’ best interest to withdraw him.”

I DO NOT understand this rule. Is it the Robin Hood effect?
I believe that this is an IOC rule. In all events a country is not allowed to enter more than 3 individuals.

Since the team event is now completed and we are moving on to the individual event, only 3 per country are allowed.

Go Ireland, NZ, and GB! The Americans need to take a leaf out of these books of these 3…

Are videos of this morning’s jogs online anywhere? I read the COH article

http://chronofhorse.com/article/martin-withdraws-final-olympic-eventing-inspection

and thought it would be interesting to see.

I think that the rule about three competitors per country in the final is ridiculous, full stop. We stop giving lollipops to everyone who didn’t fall off after they stop competing in lead line.

so…for the individual round, do they all go in with a clean slate, in terms of scores?

No, they carry their scores forward.

If we are talking ALL events, gymnastics only allows 2 in individual since, what? Sydney?
