something to kill adult Onchocerca? 19 CASE STUDIES POSTED-PAGE 58

Update on Blush: she got her second double dose Friday, September 5.

She was really rubbing on the barn on Tuesday, but she’s also dealing with neuropathic pain, which could also cause the itching.

She is still rubbing the crap out of her tail, but seems to only be rubbing the left side or it. The tail rubbing may be related to the neuro issues.

Results Spin Off - Thanks ChocoMare for compiling

ChocoMare - thanks for compiling results! So you are just scouring through the messages as people post results and updating a website?

Please let us know when that info will be up and running. This is a WEALTH of information!

I ordered the whole Panacur Power Pack regime before reading this thread for my two. They are on Day 3 of it, and then will be followed by double anthelcide and double ivermectin.

I wasn’t sure if I should do the DD Equimax or the PP routine… we’ll see what happens.

I may do the DD Equimax after the powerpack routine has run it’s course

fancy that- NOT double anthelcide…only 1.5x weight for that one.

litte D and ChocoMare… did you see these articles?

My bold on the difference between Moxidectin and Ivermectin

For people like Cashela, who’s horse is having such a horrible time with the increased itchiness… would this be a better treatment?
What about a REGULAR treatment with QUEST followed by the DD E’max? (To avoid any possible difficulties from high dosage of QUEST) ???

Too bad we can’t collectively do a long term study.

Not quite true. There is a not-brand-new resistance of ascarids to ivermectin, and there is a newer issue with a shorter ERP, from 8 weeks to 4.

In the adult horse who has proper immunity against ascarids, that part isn’t an issue. But the shorter ERP could be.

ERP?

Egg Reappearance Period

“Our results showed that the fecal egg counts of small strongyles returned faster than expected–approximately twice as quickly,” said Lyons. “This data suggests that a resistance to ivermectin is developing.”

About Anthlecide…

EVERY time I use it my entire barn gets diarrhea. SO be warned… if you give it at 1.5 of the normal dose you are in for some nasty issues. Now it’s never hurt mine, they get over the upset in a couple of days, but with 15 equines out here it can make for some messy stalls.

Tonight’s update: Well, well, well. I brought P up to trim her feet and found a horribly scratched, raised, scabby and PAINFUL welt on the right side of her neck about 2 inches below the mane hairline. Very crusty and above it to the left is a pocket of fluid…moveable, not hard, no heat. I know it was PAINFUL because even the slightest touch on it had Penny mare giving me the OWWWW HAIRY EYEBALL, swishing her tail and almost knocking me over reaction. :frowning:

I washed it as gently as I could with Nolvasan Surgical Scrub, dried it and sprayed some Lanacane on it to help with the pain a wee bit. After I was done with my chores, it was all dry so I Lanacane sprayed it again and then applied a dollop of Ickymol. We’ll see what it looks like tomorrow.

P was NOT happy with me and made her disgust blatantly clear. Hmph.

I have used 1.5x Anthelcide and not had any problem

Eq Trainer, I sent you a PM.

Ok, here are some pics that I took last night. If you move the hair on my girl in most spots there is flaky skin… I mean all over, you get up close and look and there are big flakes.

This has all occurred since double dosing her. The stuff on her butt showed up after the second dd of equimax. I wormed them both on Wednesday with one dose of Ivermectin and that is when the dandruff appeared.

My other mare also has a couple of little dandruff spots, but nothing like Kit.

thanks for pics - very helpful…

Thanks for documenting! Photos help alot…and according to what others have experienced, looks like this is GOOD - part of the “eviction of worms” process…

countrysupply.com cheapest I think![/QUOTE]

I just ordered a bunch from horse warehouse dot com for 9.99 and free shipping over $65

So I don’t know if I’m boring everyone with my updates and photo’s but here is another one  No photos today.

Kit is still a giant flake and still has the crap on her butt. I bought some Cowboy Magic Krudbuster which I have used before and basically coated her with it today. Will let you know if that helps.

My 6 year old has developed 3 hard lumps. 2 are about the size of a half dollar and raised maybe about a 1/2 inch. They are both in the same area on her side. The other is right where her naval is it is bigger, maybe not as hard. If I can find my camera I will try and take pics. She also has some dandruff under her neck. I find this interesting as she hadn’t had any itching, etc like Kit did.

I’ve updated the photos on my page as well.

Ok I double dosed my Perch today with Equimax. Is it possible to see a difference within hours? I mean I have read how the first couple days after could be the worst as far as itchiness goes. Ok, I double dosed, turned her out, brought her in 4 hours later and I SWEAR she was itching more than usual already. Does it start working THAT quick??? I took before pics today too  I’m looking forward to this!!!

Wow, Undertheson…congrats!

Interesting development with Blush: we injected C6/C7 this morning.

For the first time all summer, I did not find a rubbed tail when I went out in the afternoon. It’s awfully quick for the c spine injections to have taken affect, but that would be a mighty strange coincidence.

Simkie - which are the C6/7? Are they in the neck? Near the head or near the withers?

Or along the back?
