Songs/music that remind you of, or are about your horse.

I have a chestnut OTTB mare- her songs are

Brown eyed girl- Van Morrison

Chestnut Mare- the Byrds (I remember hearing this song when I was contemplating buying her and I took it as an Omen- that was 9 years ago. Definitely a spot on Omen).

and sometimes…
Wild Thing- the Troggs

Mine is super cheesy. Probably dorky. Don’t care.

Unconditionally by Katy Perry.

I often listened to the radio or CDs when I rode by myself.

One early a.m. [I rode before DH left for work, so was at the barn at 6] when Yo was over 20 no less, the radio station plays Rod Stewarts ‘Young Hearts’… and the red headed TB just became so energized and was SO into it.

So that’s his song.

I got Melly on Sept. 28th, 2015 when his owner was dying and seeking someone to take him as she was entering hospice. The alternative was to put him down. Certainly not the worst thing that can happen to an older TB, but when I met him he was so handsome, sound and sane, it seemed a shame to not give him a chance.
His mom died the week after I took him.

I am not a Rolling Stones expert, but I had gotten DS a Stones CD for Xmas and had it in the CD player in the car.
‘Rock and a Hard Place’ became Mellys song.
Melly died on May 26th 2016.
His mom was ready to have him back, and I am glad I got the chance to spend time with him, and that they are together again.

.

My mini does his Liberty class to “Wipeout” by the Beachboys but I might try “Bad to the Bone” next year.
My oldtimer’s song was “Looking out my Backdoor” by CCR
The old pony mare’s song was “It’s all right to be Little Bitty” as Bitty was her name.

My draft cross’s song was the theme song of the Muppets

My horses LEAST favorite song is:

Chestnuts Roasting On an Open Fire.

“Got My Mind Set On You” aka “This Song is Just Six Words Long” by Paul McCartney/Weird Al…

Oops…George Harrison

Don’t Worry be Happy…that used to suit one of my Hanovarian guys. Just bopped along to that.

I think the TB is a headbanger! So something by the Scorpions or Metallica would suit him.

Michael Martin Murphey’s Wild Fire… my wife’s quarter was named Fire and the song pretty fit him

A few years ago my husband & I saw Bryan Ferry at the Greek Theater in L.A. He played “Make You Feel My Love” so beautifully, it was very moving. My husband turned to me and said, “Tell me the truth, are you thinking about me or Zephyr?”
Um, busted.

Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend”. I’ve had my guy 20 years (he’s 31) and I can’t imagine how my life will be without him.

With one of my Morgan mares, I always thought of Metallica’s Stone Cold Crazy before we went into any of our gaming classes

Hey! My big ottb, bay mare had Brown Eyed Girl as her theme song.

There is music from Deirdre A Celtic Tale that makes me think of my Standie. The music is bold and powerful, yet has a throat catching yearning to it. Hard to describe.

I bought my first horse as an adult last year. She’s a race-bred TB, although never trained to race. Around that same time X Ambassadors’ “Renegade” popped on the radio here. It seemed to speak to both her and me, as neither of us is “typical.”

I put her through inspections this year, and next year I will breed her. This is funny to me, because I call her “Star” and The Weekend’s “Star Boy” seems to be indicating I can expect a colt.

My boy is a handsome dark bay cutie pie. All the ladies love him so ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man always makes me think of him.

We named my Icelandic Dovahkiin, so he had his own theme song.
