My mare was named after the Mother Love Bone song “Chloe Dancer”
The first mare was named after a Frank Sinatra song, but she channeled Meredith Brooks most days.
Good Life by One Republic - because he has it so good.

Jet: One Friend.
I still need to find a song for my Rockstar.
Sitting on the dock of the bay
My dear Fred was so elegant and like on his feet, right from when he was born, so I named him ‘Fred’ in honour of Fred Astaire. His registered name ‘A Fine Romance’ (a song by Fred and Ginger) is/was his song.
His ‘other’ song was ‘My BoyFred’s Back’.
His older sister, Cricket’s song was “You are the Cricket That I’ve Always Dreamed Of - I’ve loved you from the start”
My husband wrote a song about all them - about their dam, called ‘Small Victory’.

Can’t edit, here is ‘Small Victory’ which was written about our old mare, Mom, and her first foal ‘Lucy’.
Mine is “Not While I’m Around” from Sweeney Todd.
Sung while feeling quivering heart during trail rides - to convince Mr. B that I’ll fight off those demons he wishes to take off from.
Potter’s Girl aka Ginny:
You are the woman [PONY] that I’ve always dreamed of
I knew it from the start
I saw your face and that’s the
Last I’ve seen of my heart
So true, from the moment I saw her baby picture I couldn’t get that face out of my mind. She is the pony princess, My Little Pony brought to life.
Simply Irresistible aka Imp:
Well what could it be but Robert Palmer’s Simply Irresistible? It describes our relationship perfectly too. She originally belonged to a friend, and they were not getting along at all. “You used to look good to me but now I find you simply irresistible.” She had been a PMU foal, as had Ginny. By the time she was a long yearling two things happened – my friend had her up for sale, and I knew I could never let her go. Then she contracted purpura hemorrhagica and nearly died, and had a surprise/pasture accident foal when she was two. “She’s so fine, there’s no telling where the money went.”
Now with the way she moves, and her somewhat unusual pinto markings, I always wanted to do a freestyle (oh heck I’ll never do a freestyle, let’s just say a really nice trot) to “Short Skirt Long Jacket”. But that’s different from “our song”.
Max’s show name is “My Maserati.” He’s a living, breathing, fuzzy ear worm. ??

“Got My Mind Set On You” aka “This Song is Just Six Words Long” by George Harrison/Weird Al…[/QUOTE]
I’ve long thought this was a perfect song for a highlight video of someone training their greenie. including, cue shot sequence of paying the vet, the farrier, the hay person,…
I think all equines love this song, or at least the lyrics!
My mare’s registered name is “Imagine” so John Lennon it is! BUT we call her “Maggie (May)” so Rod Stewart comes to mind often as well.
Then there is my Lusi stallion - well behaved always, but he nickers to all the girls, and does manage to do his thing with his thing pretty much every day. So:
“I’m Too Sexy” fits him rather well, lol.
Funny, I set my iTunes on random shuffle tonight just as I was stepping into the shower, and it brought up 3 songs for my horses in a row.
Stubborn Love, the Lumineers: https://youtu.be/UJWk_KNbDHo which was my lullaby/prayer when my mare was so sick I thought I would lose her and/or her foal. “Keep your head up, my love…”
What I Wouldn’t Do, Serena Ryder: https://youtu.be/ppi1uDvc44w which has always been my mare’s “theme song” and came on the radio as I drove up the back lanes to the farm after she foaled. The road was lit up by fireflies and I remember the moment so poignantly.
Lover of the Light, Mumford and Sons: https://youtu.be/nMJUbZrNnA8 is my baby boy’s theme song. It came on the radio right after the Serena Ryder song, and again just as he gained his feet the first time. Again surrounded by fireflies.
Love the one you hold
And that will be your gold
To have and to hold
A lover of the light
I keep a whole playlist of horse songs.
LOVE Small Victory - Garnet Rogers.
Horse - Eddie From Ohio; more about me than my horse(s), at least from the spouse’s perspective, but most folks on COTH would appreciate it, I’m sure!

The very good amateur parody video using Adele’s, Hello. She changed the words to horse references. At least I thought it was well done. I revisit from time to time it’s always good for a chuckle.
