I never saw him put a mark on a horse. He has timing, he doesn’t need to. Anyone with timing has no need for abuse.
Well, its been swell but the swellings done down…let’s roll soul. Deleting my Forum account as the three things necessary to be a Dressage rider are missing here-humility, a set of abs and a sense of humor. I was obviously defending the trainer…lol Ciao ladies, the floor is yours. lol

Actually, if you read the posts earlier on, I was responding to a woman who was accusing him of beating her horse and scaring the other people at the clinic so much that they were crying. I was attempting, if you follow the EVOLUTION of the conversation, to eliminate that kind of gossip. Which is why the other woman apologized to me. And women, in general, are just horrible to beautiful, talented women who have earned respect. Ask Alfredo. HE says it all the time.[/QUOTE]
Actually I do follow what you consider to be the “evolution of the conversation”, just not so much at your glacial pace… That’s fine, we all have different lives… and yes, if you were paying attention you would have seen that your posts were not clear and needed some effort on your part to clarify.
The time span (months) required for you to express your views may be part of the disconnect…
and…Um… as good a Dressage clinician as he is, I would hardly consider Alfredo to be an authority on women or their treatment of other women .
I can only imagine how Alfredo views the world of women from the vantage point of a dressage clinician, but it ain’t reality as we know it .
You and I, assuredly, associate with different people. No sweat, just reality. I’m not familiar with women “who are horrible to beautiful talented women who have earned respect…” Glad ,if that is “what Alfredo says” that I wasn’t still present when he said it. I don’t think that sentiment would have gone over well, at all, in the company present at the time, which included many women of that (beautiful talented) description who did not seem to feel put upon in the least. Perhaps the demographic was different where you attended?
I don’t watch reality television, what little I’ve seen was ridiculous, but I can’t blame Alfredo if he has learned the words to stroke a bruised ego… Someone must keep the ratings high enough to keep the “real housewife” shows on the air. Nothing wrong with a bit a sugar to help the tough dressage medicine go down…

I have alerted the administrators to this thread as there is one woman who is promoting welting up your horse. As the rules state, you are responsible for what you say here and promoting abuse is, I do believe, against the rules. Also, that is something that I never saw this particular clinician do and I do believe that he is very against using force over timing.
Cute emoticons, you are clearly quite gifted.
I can’t wait for 11pm tonight.

for posterity
For those wondering, Alfredo Hernandez has a clinic scheduled in Watsonville, CA in mid November:

Wait – are you referring to me?
You would rather allow a horse to crush your skull or break your femur versus applying a correction that might sting his bottom?
That explains a lot.

Sorry about the cute “emoticons”. I thought perhaps that they might help get the point across since you seem not to comprehend what others are saying to you and you are somewhat unclear to me as well.
I suspect we may have a bit of a language disconnect.
I don’t think that anyone here advocates “welting up your horse”.
If I am understanding correctly… your outrage, regarding whomever you have reported (to the Chronicle ) as a horse welter-upper, is misplaced.
Please rest assured, I was at that particular clinic and no one was abusing horses with the whip.
Alfredo was the only one with the whip and I didn’t think he abused, he corrected.

If Noah had been truly wise, he would have swatted those two flies.
Is EPAT suggesting violence?

I “welted up” a couple of flies this morning. I better alert the mods.

Stop threatening those flies.
I am reporting you to someone somewhere.

It would have been worth any future criticism in the case of flies… and just.so.many. microbes and viruses which cause disease. Come to think of it, I think I could put a great many extant organisms on Noah’s Hit List.

I just popped into this thread after not reading it for some time - Can you explain to me WTH happened, to the understanding of correct dressage/horse training? Is this poster to whom you responded accusing A. Hernandez of abuse?
Is quickly and clearly disciplining a horse who is resisting an “abusive” thing now?
Honestly whomever this person is, he/she is not a horse trainer. Nor has this person ever worked with a difficult or previously abused horse who needs clarity and precise commands in order to understand how to respond to training in general to keep the horse and the handler safe and “harmonious”.
All it takes is to carefully and silently watch horses interact with each other in the wild and more precisely to watch the dominant mare and how she interacts with the others in her herd.
OK rant over, carry one
I think sometimes, late at night, one must choose between the wineglass and the keyboard.

I probably shouldn’t be the person to try to clarify this weirdness for you, because I am rather confused myself…but here goes…
I think that several of us misunderstood EPat’s first post, then, Epat thought that Larkspur “welted up her horse” at an AH clinic and has apparently reported Larkspur’s misdeed to the moderators of the Chronicle BB.
I wonder if I have been reported for my abuse of emoticons…
Actually, Larkspur’s horse tried to take Alfredo’s head off while working in hand and Alfredo corrected him instantly and effectively and they got along fine afterward .
Much ado about nothing really.

But that’s exactly when it’s so hard to make choices.
Who IS this person (OP)?
What a confusing thread. I’ve tried to read most of but it makes my brain hurt.
