Since we’ve had several discussions about customer service lately, I thought I’d give my experience with HorseloverZ. I’ve never ordered from them before, and my first purchase wasn’t particularly great. I purchased a pair of B Vertigo breeches locally, and they fit beautifully. So…when I saw exactly the same breech (same style, same size) in another color at a considerably lower price at HorseloverZ, I pushed the purchase button! Imagine my shock that the new breeches did not fit–they were as much as an inch smaller in the leg width (I matched the two breeches up seam to seam as well as measured with a tape measure). Of course, it’s not HorseloverZ’s fault if the manufacturer messed up. HOWEVER…I had to pay $14.99 for shipping plus return shipping charges. I included photographs that showed the difference in the breeches. The response from their customer service dept. was “It would seem strange that the size would vary that much if that was the case,” meaning same size and style. Ya think?! No offer to reimburse the shipping charges–or at least part of them–and I will never order from them again.
I needed a new helmet, ordered one from Horseloverz and when it came it did not fit this long oval head of mine well.
I filled out the return paperwork and since I had seen a nice sheet on sale for almost the same price, I did an exchange. Returning the helmet for the turnout sheet.
Filled out the form fully, including my e-mail address and telephone number as requested.
Sent the package off 2 day shipping. I know it arrived…
Tick… Tock… Tick… Tock…
Finally sent them an e-mail and their response was I owed an add’l $8 and they were waiting for payment… uh… so when were you going to contact me to let me know you were processing the exchange and to get that payment?
I never got an answer to my question
‘I included on the exchange paperwork my e-mail address and phone number as requested, why didn’t you contact me when you received the return to finalize the exchange? Why was that info requested if not to contact me when you got the return in order to finalize the exchange?’
Not impressed.
I’ve always had great luck with them. Although I don’t think I’ve ever ordered clothes. They have the fastest shipping ever!
They have been ok for the few orders I’ve had. Just the last one was bad. I ordered a really nice pair of Ariat half chaps on sale, but the ones that were sent were the cheaper suede ones. I called customer service and got a return label. It took forever to get the refund though.
I bought boots for myself this winter that I had to exchange for size. No problems, the replacements came promptly.
Oh what you mean “Horseloosers.com”?
Their item descriptions are so bad when ordering more technical items like bits, girths, saddles, etc… Then when you ask a customer rep, they have no idea WHT you are asking them.
U can have 'em…
Oh and the clothes are all sized weirdly and differently depending on whether they were made in China, India or Pakistan…
I have had pretty good luck with them. Usually if there is an error on their end you get a return shipping label and they cover shipping. Sometimes it takes talking to someone who has been working there longer.
I just put in an order to ship to Canada. I am a preferred customer and they were nice to waive the very expensive shipping of $49.99. Apparently the US preferred customer get the free shipping Canadians don’t. She also price matched for two items.
A few times a few things didn’t fit. So I will sell them online.
I love Horseloverz and have gotten some awesome deals there. However, if something doesn’t fit it is almost always easier to keep it and sell it locally, especially since I probably paid a pittance for it – I can usually get my money back.
The one time I did make the mistake of ordering horse blankets there, they sent me ones that were not as described on the website. They were mediums when the ad said heavyweight, but the small print said medium somewhere. They shipped them back for the flat fee of $8 or whatever, which was OK.
I really like their big sales. last year I got beautiful Courbette reins for $6, a Courbette dropped noseband for $6, Rio Vista dog shampoo for 99 cents that makes my dog so soft, a Mountain horse scarf for like $5 that is beautiful…I could go on and on. Small stuff but awesome and HUGE discounts. The reins had a tag on for $99! And they were legit for that price, the leather is awesome.
Before you place an order, google coupon codes. You can often find some that work for free shipping and 10% off or $5 off or whatever, and you can usually layer them.
I bought a pair of white polos from them. The polos that arrived were dirty, and also stained blue from an expo or permanent marker. Because I would have to pay the price of shipping back, I didn’t even bother returning them. They’re just sitting in my car now, unused.
When I received something that was damaged I called customer service and provided photos and they refunded me. They didn’t even want the product shipped back. I gave the quality bridle to someone who bought a pony from me. It had a crack in the noseband but was still useable.

Just an idea - do what I did with my older white polos:
find an old pot, fill pot up with water, put 1/3 bottle Rit dye of your color choice, 1 teaspoon of table salt (to encourage the color to take), boil for 1 hour.
after put in cold water in an old bucket and put a 1/2 cup white vinegar to set the color. Take out after 2 hours or overnight if the color is really deep.
After that you can wash them (hand wash the first few times to be safe)
May seem like a PITA to some but I got a brilliant pair of royal blue polos - they look like brand new - and they pop on my gelding!!
I do this with old saddle pads also!!
Great idea! I have a pair of breeches I really want to dye, it will be a fun weekend project sometime. =)
I used to order from them occasionally and never had a problem. They have a price matching feature that I tried to use once on a saddle pad. It was the EXACT same pad. Description between the two site was the SAME. They would not price match because it was “not the same pad”. I double/tripled check to see if they were right. Nope. The pads were EXACTLY the same. I asked how they were different and never got a response. Yea, if they can’t be bothered to point out where I may be wrong, I can’t be bothered ordering from them. Took myself off their mailing list and will take my business elsewhere.
Ugh yeah their prices are good but if anything goes wrong, customer service is atrocious. A few months ago I ordered black half chaps and they sent me brown ones. When I called them they offered me a $10 refund, which seemed crazy when it was their mistake. Thinking I could sell the chaps I accepted but after a couple weeks I was having no luck so I called again. They argued with me about a full refund for THEIR ERROR, and then when the refund finally appeared weeks later it didn’t include what I paid for shipping. So I had to call them again and they argued again. I finally did get all my money back but jeez, it shouldn’t have taken weeks of waiting and phone calls.
Every time I order from them I assume it’s going to be messed up somehow, so it has to be worth it to me to have to return or resell the item. They’re very clear that they charge for returns, so the quarter sheet I got that was entirely different from what I ordered ended up living with me until I sold it to a barnmate. Since then I just use them for sales where I know I can turn around and sell the item quickly, although I have had enough success to keep trying.

I dyed an old rust stained pair of white breeches last weekend. First I washed them in hot water with a little bleach to try to get them as clean as possible.
Then the same process with the Rit dye that I described above.
They honestly came out beautiful, in a gorgeous Navy blue. The white polyester stitching stayed white (polyester does not take the dye) but the breech fabric and the knee patches dyed nicely. A nice contrasting look…
I got a ton on compliments on my “new Denim look” breeches. Ha!!!
they sent me the completely wrong color sheet once, but I ordered from them after that and it was ok.
However, always with caution and never anything high dollar or that I need quickly.
You know, their customer service used to be EXCELLENT. They were always willing to work with me and were always polite and accommodating.
Recently? They’ve been absolutely terrible. I bought a bridle from them (a decentish brand, nothing fancy but not the crappy bridles they also have) and it came with stains on the white part (it had white padding), glue leaking all over the place, and was just gross. I sent an email stating how unhappy I was. They gave me 2 options: 1-return the bridle for a new one (where I paid for shipping both ways) or 2 - get half the price of the bridle in store credit. I took 2 only because I did not want to deal with shipping the dang thing back (not to mention our post office in town is ridiculously horrible). Since then, I only shop at their site if there’s a really good deal going on.
I also do not buy anything expensive from them (like someone mentioned, their descriptions are horrific and I never know if I am going to get what I think I am).
I’ve been buying from them less and less. They have these great sales and the order goes though but then I get an email saying something is out of stock or discontinued.
My last order I found a great deal on some saddle bags and then added a bunch if smaller stuff (since I had to pay for shipping up to a certain $$$) that I didn’t really need but would use eventually. Of course the saddle bags were “discontinued” and did I want to substitute something else of equal value? Well, no, that was the one item I really wanted. Told them to cancel the entire order and give me my money back. They did so within an hour or so. So, I guess that’s positive customer service?
I think my love affair with them is over. I don’t even open their emails anymore.

I got a pair of really nice Pikeur full seats from Ricks Heritage cheap back in 1995… I did not need white breeches o dyed them green. Botht eh fabric and the seat dyed well. Like Beligainwbluver only the stitching didn’t take, but it’s not a bad look. They came out great and I STILL wear them to this day!
RIT dye is very user friendly, and if the color doesn’t come out deep enough you can always do it again for longer to try to go deeper… though faded denim sounds very nice… hmmmm…
