Spinoff: Anyone looking for long lost barn pals?
Ok, I’ll play I guess…

Cindy O’Brien - rode at Shannon Hill in the late 80’s in NJ - horses named Topeka and Augie

Laura (can’t remember last name) - rode at Floradale Farm in NJ in the early 80’s, owned horse called Jack Daniels

Vicky Lazarik - Also rode at Floradale farm in NJ, early 80’s - had a pony called Cully

Those are the ones I can think of at the moment that I was good friends with, there were so many other casual friends along the way though!!
:D
I rode at Floradale for a while in the late 70’s early 80’s. I remember a girl named Vicky who had long red hair, she shared a horse with her mom though. And, I remember a girl named Amy Storm owning Jack Daniels. Lets see, other names that come to mind are Bettina Rollof, Maria Cerza, the Grants (brother and sister), Joelle Herkner. I moved in 1983 and at that same time I think a lot of the clients left Floradale because the owner was trying to make people train with some dressage trainer, lol.

Anyone go to Brentwood Stables summer camp in Angelica, NY???
ME!
I was there in '80 and '81?
Head instr was Cassie Panton, my cabin counselor was Kim one year, other year I have no idea.
I rode black pony Woodstock, chestnut Little Mac, and a mare Eunice… and I remember Flair, and Double Image and her pink roan father… and the black mare who broke my friend Crickets jaw (ETA her name was Robin)…
Others who went with me were Reiko Shioji, and my cousin Megan Brown

I did! For one summer! I don’t think that place exists anymore.
Sadly it does not, completely.
I drove by about 5 years ago or so, and it was a mess! The barn/indoor was still there and in use by the college still, but the camp, cabins, etc… swallowed by the woods, creepy.

I rode/boarded with Cassie Panton, the head riding instr at Brentwood while I lived in Elmira NY 6 or 7 years ago… she has a farm there and I boarded there several months before I realised that I had gone to camp w/her as the instr! Small world!

That barn is directly behind Freebird’s house! It has since been bought by new owners but they’ve kept the “arrangements.”

I worked for Ann Guptill the summer of 1994. Carolyn Denton was working there then. Pam Gillespie was my age (early in college then) and working there, as well. Do you know/remember them?
Hey I grew up, in Maine, with a Carolyn Denton. She would’ve been about 28 or 30 in 1994. Could this be the same person?

:DI would love to find Lee Mize and Helen Lee. They were both in Camden at Cover Story Farm in the early 80’s. Lee was from England or Australia (I think Australia) and was one of the most knowledgeble horse people I ever knew as well as a super nice person.

Helen was also knowledgeable and a lot of fun. She was the daughter of States Lee of Duke Power.

There was another gal that I really liked that came in with a bunch of Clay Camp’s horses but I cannot remember her name for the life of me. She was from Anderson, SC, if I remember correctly, went to college at Clemson University, was a great rider. She got along very well with Cover Story’s trainer :D. Oh, I wish I could remember her name. I’ve often wondered what happened to her and if she accomplished what she wanted to ---- Oh, yeah, her name was Carolyn!

Back in '97 I was a working student at Woodcock Hill, in Willington Ct. - getting my BHS cert. Gretchen Geromini (sp?) was the trainer along with the BO, Melanie Tenney, and this young woman from England. We had shows a lot at the farm, as well as lots of clinics, and most Dressage trainers around the area would show up for those, we also kept in contact with Millbrook since they had a BHS Cert. too.

It was quite an experience, and I ended up coming back home after 8 months.

I boarded at Suzanne’s (Meadow Wood) too, and Windy Crest - now Cima Farm - IS right behind my house. We probably do know the same people - send me a PM sometime.

Kat

I used to ride with a couple of girls at Naperville Equestrian Center and then White Ash, out in Naperville and Plainfield, Illinois. Ashley Tennyson was one (I may have the last name spelled wrong). The other was Becky something, can’t recall the last name. This would’ve been in the mid-1990s, I guess?

I’ll try to remember to check back, but on the off-chance anybody knows 'em, please drop me a PM.

great thread

What a great idea. I have so many but 2 come to mind right away.

Quentin Wilson…should be around 47 or so. I worked with him at BW’s way way back in the mid 70’s. I would love to find out what happened to him.

Lynn Cadle…around 52 but I think she’s married now. Last I knew she had a barn in southern New Hampshire. We rode together with Denny Emerson at Stoneleigh Burnham. I would love to reconnect with her.

Not sure if she was from Maine, but the age sounds correct. Her mother’s name is Mary Frances and they had been heavily involved with Pony Club - her mom was an examiner. I can’t remember if she said where she grew up.

I know there are some Bay Ridge (Centreville, VA) folks on here. I rode there from the late 80s to the mid 90s.

Did anyone on here go to Camp Rim Rock? I was there in the early 90s for the all-horseback riding weeks.

I boarded at Suzanne’s (Meadow Wood) too, and Windy Crest - now Cima Farm - IS right behind my house. We probably do know the same people - send me a PM sometime.

Thats sad to hear. Such a lovely location. I remember them making a big deal about the water coming from “artisian wells.”

I don’t remember much from brentwood…other than I was terrified at the time. Just prior to camp I had a really really bad fall. I was a huge chicken that summer and would freak out if a horse so much as nipped at a fly. I remember going down some rocky hill to a river on horse back and knowing the end was near, lol. I also remember you had to skip around the dining hall if you fell off. And, we skinny dipped in the pool…big deal…bunch of pre-pubesent girls! I think our counselors got in trouble for drinking.

This is probably a long shot…

Anyone who was a working student at Wellington Riding (in Basingstoke, England) from Sept 1995 to August 1996. I would love to get back in touch with my friends that I lived, rode, and played with while a working student.

Looking for long lost folks…

Lee Ellen Kranz who ran the riding school portion of Wilson Tech on L.I. when it was held at Thomas School back in the 70s. Wonder whatever happened to her.

Scott Burdsall Katharine’s brother. I was friends with him for a while when I worked in North Salem/Brewster NY in the early 80s.

Lydia (can’t remember last name) We worked together at Steinkraus’s - she worked for Mrs. S. and I worked for one of the boarders - Kay Spear, who from what I understand is still knocking around North Salem somewhere. Again early 80s.

Any of you out there?

Anyone from Tashmoo Farm on Martha’s Vineyard in the early 70’s? Had a lot of fun with the “summer” kids!

Well I know there was alot of skinny dipping… but what year was that do you remember? I was there '79 and '80 I think… and my cabinmates and I did, after doign night check, scare the hell out of the younger cabin that was swimming au naturale! If I remember correctly, my counselors took us to Marias drinking with them.

How about Outlands Stables in Birmingham, Mich?

Yes! Some friends of mine from Newnan, GA. My screen name should be identifiable for them. They know me as Suzanne, and my horse’s stable name is Bo.

To keep this confidential for them, I’m looking for Bobby, Ansley, Patricia, and Tori. Please feel free to PM me.
