spinoff of RF Amber Eyes: Eventers, what's your horse's hunter name?

JC name: Black Halo
Barn name: Hal
Eventing name: Never Summer (after the Colorado/Wyo mountain range and the snowboard brand)
Hunter name: Exposure (as in mountainside)
Horse: River Mountain Rd
Barn name: River
Hunter Name: Kettering

Kettering is a town in England between Leicester and London. The rail stopped there on the way to London, and I always thought it was the funnest sounding name.
Totally OT: My mother’s family lived in Kettering for generations. It’s Ye Olde Family Home. Funny to see it mentioned on COTH.

BLM title name: Toiyabe Yomba
Eventing name: Tristan’s Bel Joeor
Barn name: Tristan
Hunter name: Malory (since he’s named after a character from Malory’s Morte d’Arthur, because I was applying to PhD programs in medieval studies when I got him)

As soon as I braided him up to show his BLM freezebrand it wouldn’t really matter how fat he was or how he was named, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

JC name. Unprovoked
Barn name. Andy
Eventing name. Unprovoked
Hunter name…Unprovoked

JC name. Flanked in Gold
Barn name. Isaac
Eventing name. Flanked in Gold
Hunter name. Inquire

Reg name. Norland (I think)
Barn name. Ben
Eventing name. Brae Mont’s PlayBoy
Hunter name. Instigator

lol that was fun!

I just went to the Merriam-Webster word of the day. Apparently my horse’s hunter name is Nonpariel.

My alternate name if choice is Conspicuous.

JC and Eventing name: Little Miss Match

H/J name: Luminary

Here real show name should be “pogostick” because that is what she feels like when she gets her tail in a twist…

Heh, heh. Well, I actually bought my young horse from a hunter trainer (was a fire sale–“everything under 4 must go” due to pending divorce)

Barn name: Bizzy
Hunter name was: Bazillion
Eventing Name: Bizzy Signal

Lets see… ignoring the fact I have horrified the hunters by showing my Tb’s with their JC names, which I compete under everywhere, these would be the made up Hunter names…

Lad would be Wacquoit
Petey would be Chatham
Lunar would be Quisset.

Wacquoit bay is near where my grandparents had a house. Both grandparents owned homes on 2 parts of the Cape, Quissett and Chatham.

My last horse’s registered name was “Neevas Grand Nikitta” :eek:I showed her in both hunters and eventing as “girl with a curl.”
Who when she was good, was very, very good, and when she was bad, she was horrid? Love it!
Hunter name: Endless.

As in, Endless amount of lunging to make him slow enough. Endless amount of time spent waiting around for a class to finish. Endless amount of money spent to earn a .50 ribbon (well, that goes for eventing too).
A common misconception. Those ribbons are NOT $0.50! I know, because I’ve purchased them. (Of course, even the big-ass fancy ones don’t cost nearly what a class fee is).

I’ll play.

Breed Name: Reverence Astarte
Barn Name: Star
“Eventer”/Jumper Name: Star Appeal
Hunter Name: Aphrodite, Venus, Isis, or Ishtar… or Surprise, or maybe Unexpected
Her breed name has nothing to do with her lineage, but rather the fact that she was a surprise

Breed Name: Sucha Special Spark
Barn Name: Sparky, Spanky, Pudge, & Napolean
Eventer Name: Napolean Dynamite
Hunter Name: Capricious
Sparky is like the girl with the curl - either very good or very bad, and I don’t know which one I’ll get!

Totally OT: My mother’s family lived in Kettering for generations. It’s Ye Olde Family Home. Funny to see it mentioned on COTH.
Isn’t it a great name? I totally understand JK Rowling’s love of fun names after spending time in England!

JC and Event name: Charlie Moon
Hunter name: Shine

To be fair, while I might have been too cheap/ lazy to do the paperwork to change the mare’s name, I think RF Amber Eyes was a stupid name. I’m not crazy about the breeder prefix/ suffix (although I understand its importance) and I really dislike when one is tacked on by trainers/ importers etc.

That said, two of my three horses already have one word names-- Passing and Freeman-- and third, Miles To Go-- would probably be okay too.

Love some of these names. Well, I do prefer one word names–so some of mine already sort have hunter acceptable names. And I really prefer to show under their barn name if I can too. Been lucky and had a few with decent JC names. Of just my current horses

JC/Barn/Eventing/hunter name: Loveton

JC/Eventing/hunter: Rockstina
Barn: Roxie

JC: Blame it on Bush
Eventing/Barn: Porter (after the beer)
Hunters: Porter–guess it would be accepted as it is a beer!

JC/Eventing: Richie the Thief
Barn: Richie
Hunter: Phoenix

JC: Isn’t she Charming
Barn/Eventing: Charm
Hunter…no idea…sh’ed NEVER be one anyway!

Eventing: Muggle
Barn: Prince
Hunter: Minister

LOL! Here’s mine:

JC: Your So Charming (yes, with this spelling)
barn name: Charm
Hunter name…No idea… She’d never be one because of her, um, unusual style over fences

JC: Buck’s Lullaby
Barn name: Lula
Hunter name: Lullaby

H/J rider here - you guys are really good at this! You’re cracking me up! Next time I get a hunter I’m coming back here to ask you all to name him

JC name: Great Rojo
Event name: A Kind of Magic
Hunter name (right, like he could be a hunter): Up In The Air
What his event name should have been: Sitdownshutupandhangon!

Time to play my own game.

Eventer name: Zizi
Hunter name: Implausible

Reasoning: 14.2hh, irretrievably skinny, turns like a BMX, very animated, has two speeds – really fast and even faster. There is no way anyone would mistake this one for a hunter. She’d be escorted out of the warm-up ring.

Eventer name: Niina
Hunter name: Believable

Reasoning: Nina (Zizi’s half-sister) is a beautiful, elegant, classic TB. I have been told by knowledgeable people that I was ‘crazy’ for not showing her in the hunters. So guess what? That’s what she’ll be doing this year, while she’s hopefully in foal, which should help with the desired fat look. While the rest of her family is wildly hot and really attack the jumps and course, Nina is happy to go around at a nice canter and look pretty. I have no idea how this happened. (And no, I don’t really plan to change her name for hunters.)

Eventer name: Misty Kiss
Hunter name: Mistakenly

Reasoning: Misty Kiss, who is all of three months old, already has a stripper/porn name. And at three months, it’s quite apparent that she inherited her sire’s high headset (yay!) and so doesn’t look much like a HB prospect.

JC/eventer name: Star Colony
Hunter name: Colonoscopy

Reasoning: Because he’s very scopey.

I’ll play, though only one of mine would ever manage to be a hunter, and thats only if he paid attention long enough.

JC Name: Seneca Wind
Barn Name: Seneca
Eventing Name: Cameraine
Hunter Name: Persuasian (As in she would need to be persuaded to do everything)

ApHC Name: Tu Classy To Cowboy
Barn Name: Cowboy
Eventing Name: My Favorite Spot
Hunter Name: Attentive (As in he has NO attention span)

Two years ago we were sitting in like 3rd after dressage when the gate people left the in/out gate openduring stadium and she bounced (literally) right out of the arena coming down a line and cantered down the road with me wrapped under her neck hanging on by her ears. Scared the bejesus out of everyone. I’m pretty sure I’m the reason the gate is always closed now. They still let us go XC (I reached up and grabbed the bit with my hands and pulled her to a stop) and she went clean.

Elliot’s hunter name would be Prevalent. He’s 17.2 and wears an 87 blanket. There’s a lot of him aka he’s Prevalent.

JC : Slew’s Dancin Man
Barn name: Bud
If we ever go eventing: Budzoid
Hunter name: Astaire
