spinoff of RF Amber Eyes: Eventers, what's your horse's hunter name?

Hmm…let’s see:

Show name: Benefit of the Doubt
Barn name: Ben
Hunter name: Chaos (mostly because the definition of chaos is ‘rampant confusion and disarray’ and that would be us in the hunter ring )

Just popped over here, though I usually lurk in H-J land. I love this thread.

But I would note that you guys have overlooked the key exception to the “one word” rule.

Names may be any # of syllables or words if they reference an alcoholic beverage.

Have at it.[/QUOTE]

Mighty Monster pony is Farnley Nightlock. (what the hell is a nightlock?)

Show name PR Brandy Station

Hunter name might be Aggravation (beverage related to my favorite college libation a Colorado Bulldog) which describes the last four years of dressage training!

Fabulous Feral Fred is Hounds Run Formally Attired.

Show name PR Swing Time.

Hunter name has to be Astaire so Vineyridge and I can’t be in the ring at the same time!

JC Name: Princes Pleasure (ICK)
Event name: see above (ICK)
Hunter Name: PhantomMenace (Liam Neeson at his very worst)

I bought my gelding off the breeder’s farm two years ago. Got his papers, the markings matched, etc. etc. His name was a horrible, “Fort Huachuca.” Ick!! My dad is a musician, and we had named my last gelding Reggae, so he nominated Adagio as his new name.

Fast-forward to this year, I decided to register him with the USEA for our BN debut (I know it wasn’t necessary but I wanted to) and there are dozens of Adagios, so I went with “At Ease,” which is the simple definition for Adagio.

This was a big, fun, silly process involving several friends, trainers and family.

So then I decided to enroll him in the T.I.P. program, and looked up his tattoo for the first time…

He’s not even Fort Huachuca. Wrong horse. A year older, different sire, different dam. One brown spot on a coronet band difference in markings…

So now I have to go back in and fix his info with USEA, and I’ll show in under his ACTUAL JC name in everything we do: Coincidentally. lol

“Coincidentally” is a GREAT name!

For the Baxter:
JC name: Black Tuxedo
Event name: Black Tuxedo
Hunter name: Formality (in reality, they’d probably dub him, “Thatwasfast” )

“Inadvertently”

As in I changed my horse’s name which inadvertently lost her old name since I inadvertently registered her with a new and illegal USEF number which inadvertently dropped not only show records but her birth information including her age. Inadvertently her new record also didn’t show that my horse had been competing for several years in FEI divisions higher than 3’6" so it was only inadvertently that she’s been competing in the Pre-Greens that she not eligible for.

But seriously, it was all done inadvertently and I have not really done anything wrong.

subk, I must have the full brother to yours.
“Unintentional”

I never knew that my mare was destined for the h/j ring! But, if super-round is one of the qualifications, then she’s ready!

Reg name and name she will (hopefully) event under: H. Wineglass Shiraz
Barn name: Razzy
Hunter Name: Overnourished

Late to the party (hmm, that would be a good event name)…

I have
USEA name:
Piko (fancy wb name from Germany, believe it or not)
Barn : Piko
Hunter: Piko, although Moribund would be more accurate if the jumps all looked the same…

And
Barn name: Eli
Eventing: Elevation
Hunter: Slate (going w the media thing plus he has no chrome at ALL)

I’m not an Eventer (would love to but no guts!).

Registered name: Drew A Winning Straw (goes back to his bloodlines)
Barn Name: Bosco

Was hoping to start doing some local hunter shows and wanted to use either “Incognito” or “Under Wraps”. Mostly because he’s an Appaloosa (oh, the horror!) but he’s solid black and most people think he’s a warmblood cross of some kind so I figured we’d be sneaking in under the radar. Maybe.

If I ever go back to hunter-land, I will invariably show a mare with a slightly silly male name. Something like Hubert, Willard, Statler or Waldorf.

The latest trend seems to be using words that are either adjectives or adverbs, rather than nouns or proper names. (Inclusive, Clearly, Mythical, and so on…)

In keeping with that fad, my horse’s hunter name will be “Expensive.”

Here is my mare

Barn Name: Baylee
JC name: Bayshore Gal
Eventing Name: Bayshore Gal
Hunter Name: Bayshore Gal or Baylee, could also be Freebie or My Christmas Present (I picked her up as a free rescue on Xmas Eve)

I prefer to use the registered name as long as it isn’t awful and hers is OK.

Christa

Or verbs/past participles.

Now that I think about “Taken” as the name for horse, I wonder who got took?

My horse came with a one-word, slightly foreign sounding name that also serves as his barn name. A new trainer the other day asked about him, and then asked if that was one of those fancy warmblood names. “No, it’s one of those off the track thoroughbred cheapest of the cheap claiming races names.”

So his hunter name would be Exclaimer.

I also just decided that Hubris and Chutzpah would also be great hunter names. Oh, and Nimrod.

I prefer my current horse’s name for both hunter and eventing:
De Rien

He had no name when I got him and his father is Haint (Cajun for “ghost”). Thus, I think it is appropriate to ride “nothing” now.

Some of the hunters I remember riding:
Simsalabim
Varfreely
Public Image
Eva’s Love
Larry
Coshatta
Cimarron

Eventers
Laser
Shiver
Che Chic

Jumpers
Radar - Command Performance
Punky
Frog - Call the Law

I once got so pissed at my husband that I took the final payout from my inheritance and bought a horse without his knowledge, stashing her away at a friend’s farm. Her JC name was Overskate Key, but I called her Surreptitious.

My current horse’s JC name is Fire Falls, which he will keep for each ring.

Hey, a friend of mine raced that mare! He bought her as a yearling and changed her name to Seneca Wind. It had been Friendly Red.

The first horse I had in this country was a Standardbred mare called Mischief Mohawk (by Chief Mohawk). I thought it was a pretty cute name…

She got sold to Thunderbird and they called her Locomotion :frowning:

I’ll bite, even though we haven’t set foot in any sort of ring for a while:

JC name: Sir William Lewis (did not learn it until I’d had him ~2 years)
Barn name: Mister
USEA name: Flying Circus
Hunter name: Inconceivable.

Because, unlike a certain Sicilian, I know what that word means, and it would be quite inconceivable that Mister would set foot in a hunter ring.
