Spinoff- Thoroughbred Stallions; a list

Interesting note too; the great THISTLECRACK steeplechaser in Ireland/England is by a son od Sadlers Wells (Kayf Tara). His dam was by Ardross who was by Run The Gauntlet (Tom Rolfe).

Thistlecrack has a tremendous jump on him and a beautiful stride. His sire Kayf Tara is a top jump sire in Europe which isn’t surprising being a son of Sadlers Wells.

Unfortunately the majority of Sadlers Wells offspring are standing in Europe; so it doesn’t help anyone in North America who wants to dig into this line.

POWERSCOURT stood at Ashford in KY for awhile but in 2010 he was sent to Turkey.

GALILEO is not available in the US but there are a few sons of his here. Always a fan of him; tremendous stallion and his dam is by Miswaki!

PERFECT SOUL; stands in KY at Darby Dan.

Sadlers Wells had a long list of offspring sired by him and out of mares by ALYDAR. I know several have raved about the ALydar line horses for sport. At least one of them was a successful steeplechase horse and raced in three countries. DOUBLE LEAF.

BULLET TRAIN is a good son of Sadlers Wells. Last standing at Crestwood in KY. His dam is by Danehill. He is a lovely looking horse, not super heavy or cresty
http://www.pedigreequery.com/bullet+train4

SLIGO BAY is also a neat choice. Sadlers wells out of HALO x Herbager mare. He stands at Adena in FL

SADLERS WELLS was also bred heavily to daughters of Secretariat. 29 offspring of his are from daughters of big red. Perfect Soul being the most notable.

There is also DESERT SECRET who was last standing in CA in 2006 at an affordable price. He was standing at Eastridge Farm. He would be quite old by now so not sure if he is still alive

Saddlers Wells was mated heavily to daughters of SIR IVOR resulting in such sires as EL PRADO,

In case anyone cares, Cinnamon Creek, the Darned That Alarm son in Arkansas, had 10 reports of mares bred in 2016.

There is/was a TB in GB standing to sport horses who is incredibly well bred for eventing. His name is Templar Spirit. By Hand in Glove out of a Primitive Rising mare with a touch of Mieuxce for movement and a touch of Nordlys for more jumping. http://sporthorse-data.com/d?z=nzHGqH&d=Templar+Spirit&x=29&y=12

If I were in GB and had a high quality eventing mare, I’d certainly look very, very closely at him. He’s got a gorgeous hind end.

I’ve been curious about this guy. I’m not a Seattle Slew and although this guy has SS in him, I like the rest of his lines.

Big Stan is quite the handsome fellow!

His sire, Northern Spur died in 2016 and was a prolific grass horse. He had a well known history of having a loving temperament. He was a lovely looking individual

http://sporthorse-data.com/d?z=Slx6kd&d=northern+spur&x=0&y=0

Big Stan’s grandma is by the great CARO. and his dam being by a Seattle Slew son.

Looks like an excellent prospect to look into either for Steeplchase/Turf horses or sport horse breeders. He’s solid but not too heavy, balanced big butt, nice neck set.

he is also the ONLY stallion available from Northern Spur who had several steeplechase horses.

WILBURN has always been a Bernardini son I’ve admired. He is beautiful with such great angle to his shoulder, nice high & pretty head and neck. Good legs with feet with enough heel. His dam is a Carson City.

hes standing in Oklahoma for $2500 at River Oaks. Might be cheaper for sport?

FLASHSTORM is the 2nd horse on this video. Handsome, wide, big bodied son of storm cat: His fee is 2500 at Northwest stud

WROTE is the bay after Flashstowm on the video. he was discussed on here prior. Nice looking stallion, nice free movemtn from the shoulder. Wrote is a High Chaparral son (Sadlers Wells). WROTE is a very nice horse, hes better looking on video than on picture

FURY KAPCORI is the 2nd stallion on this video. WOW. son of tiznow out of a go for gin mare. Looks like an event horse!
WINSLOW HOMER is the grey on the video. Unbridleds Song x Summer Squall. Another stunner , beautiful head and neck on him, uphill build.
BISMARCK TULIO is the bay after the grey. Even the groom says he has a great temperament to work with!. A Curlin son.

Woodford TB stallions on parade
Currency Swap by High Cotton is the 2nd stallion on the video. Handsome stallion and hes QUIET

Not a fan of Flashstorm. Have seen him and his offspring, and none of them really ticked my boxes. Too downhill, big butt/low shoulder, in my experience (Storm Cat influence).

I haven’t seen any Furi Kapcori yet, but I like him and his page. Mares i/f to him were CHEAP at the OBS sale last week (bodes well for future sport horse availability).

Northwest Stud used to stand United States, a son of AP Indy out of an Unbridled mare (half sis to FuPeg). I saw quite a few of his yearlings and liked most of them; they weren’t super consistent, but many of them were nice. Unfortunately he was sold overseas.

I’ve seen a couple Wrote weanlings, I want to like him (big fan of High Chaparral) but don’t have enough evidence yet.

Another stallion I really like is Sweet Return. He used to stand in Ocala but I think he’s in Indiana now. Grass horse, earned over $1M and raced until older. Produced well-balanced horses, good shoulders, attractive, seemed to be good minds too.

Sweet Return no stands at Nicks Farm in Indiana. Nice stallion with a really intriguing, more outcross pedigree. He was bred in Britain.

Browsing CANTER listings today I came across this Gelding by MIZZEN MAST (COZZENE) Out of a High Yield (Storm Cat x Tejano (CARO) mare. He is quite lovely.

There is a Lovely BERNARDINI son in the CANTER Pennsylvania listings. He was just posted. He has received much praise on COTH for a sport horse sire, so go jump on this guy!

Also check out Friend or Foe at Smallwood Farm in Virginia. Great temperament, chestnut, beautiful mover, sire of both racing stock and hunters.

snaffle1987 Thanks for all the eye candy TB links. Couldn’t open the utube ones and some of the links showed page does not exist. That being said and not sure if I have anything important to share , I found very few TB that would meet my conformation criteria regardless of what breed you were crossing on. I also found the older Arabian blood / stamp quite apperant on so many of the TB’s. By that I mean a " breedy " look in the head and overall refinement with the look of eagles ( gseesh anyone know what I’m talking about? )
I used to be a groom and Pony girl at numerous tracks here in Florida - Hialeah being my favorite of all time. Was a groom for a small powerhouse chestnut colt whom I loved sooooooo much and would actually rest in the corner of his stall where he would lay down right beside me! His name was Bold Gun I called him Gunner…i was right with him when he broke his maiden and later bucked shins ugh!
From the links you provided - here’s my picks. Keep in mind I wasn’t able to view all that you provided.
FORT PRADO gr compact, good underpinnings, good forearm to cannon ratio and well let down hocks
UBRIDLED EXPRESS gr same as above, but nice BIG hocks
GIANT SURPRISE bay Love his head and this is the " breedy " look I was trying to explain. Too bad his underpinnings fail my criteria
BULL MARKET dk b LOVE this horse for overall balance
SKYLORD ch only mention this one because he looks like an AQHA a real powehouse
SOUTHERN SUCCESS ch another powerhouse and compact
MIX MASTER b love him
Dessagelvr - who is AFR?
Elles - thanks for the great link
Lord helpus- love love love this user name hehehe any pictures of Royal Charger?

Yeah, Menoken stands Olivers Twist, too. I’ve seen several and they are very, very nice. Quite sporty. Doing well in eventing. I believe he was mentioned up thread, or in another one of these sorts of threads.

Bushwacker also stands in Colorado: http://www.pedigreequery.com/bushwacker

http://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-r…386/bushwacker

The pedigree is interesting. There is a picture here that is not very flattering. Could be worth seeing him in person.

Based solely on the farm name from the Bloodhorse page, I assume Neil Koch has him now. Nice guy. If anyone would like contact info, I can probably dig up a phone number.

Its nice that Menoken farm stands their stallions to non-TB mares! Olivers Twist is quite nice!

I really like Einstein. He is worth a look. a highly successful turf horse in 30 starts. He is beautiful in terms of conformation: Nice, shorter pasterns, more heel to his feet, short back, uphill build and balance. The one thing I like most about his pedigree is ZERO inbreeding. He is worth a look

The stallion I like most on their site is UNDER CAUTION> By AP INDY x Storm Cat x Mahmoud x Turn To. He is beautiful looking in his photo but would also like to see him in person. He also stands at Victory Rose. I just love his breeding, anything with that type of lineage is worth a look as a sport horse sire if he passes your criteria in the flesh. He was 2x Secretariat in his pedigree which I think reflects in his conformation and build; he is a stunner. His review on Victory Rose states he is built very much like Secretariat, heavier muscled which might be liked by sport horse breeders looking to cross on warmbloods.

I suspect that Olivers Twist will be one of those stallions where we don’t realize his incredible value for sport until he’s gone. He’s 25 this year–if anyone is interested in breeding to him, do it now. I wish I had sent Blush to him when I was still in Colorado.
