Humble might disagree with that sentiment.
Were they “laughing and having fun” when the pony died at the end of the syringe they were holding? No. Elizabeth Mandarino left the show grounds with the dead pony laying there and children crying.
Did someone cue the houseguests?
Apparently so. House guests that think we have very short memories.
Well geez… A Maestro and Barisone thread on the dressage forum, PLUS a houseguest here…
I think we’ve all heard the rumors, and Humble made news well outside the East Coast h/j circuit…
Front page of the New York Times. Above the fold, no less, as I recall.
Yes, if you want to lay low and let bad things fade from collective memory, get your houseguest to resurrect a somewhat recent but dormant thread containing comments and links to actions involving a child’s Pony so appalling they made the front page of NYT and trashed our entire industry in the minds of the public.
Yeah, sure, that’ll work. Nice try Liz. But all it will is introduce newbies to the dark underbelly of our sport and add more pages to the saga here on COTH.
Odd thing is houseguest had 108 posts and has been a member since 2006
I’m not quite interested enough to look, but I wonder if the other 107 posts are as accurate.
Let’s not forget that the events around Humble’s death resulted in not one but two new USEF rules. One involving injections at horse shows, and the other involving necropsies if an animal dies at a show. Most people manage to get through their lives without having even one USEF rule written about them.
Poor pony. RIP.
Go look, there aren’t that many, only 6 pages. Profile lists age as 52 , didn’t see any started threads and replies seem to be mostly on threads about Ponies and mood altering but legal substances. What a coincidence…
Well that’s a surprise. Not.
I believe EM also used a different name to post here some years back. I remember a thread about some bizarre situation where she was incensed that someone would not sell her a pony that she wanted. Or maybe she wanted to lease the pony, but the person only wanted to sell it. Or something like that. It was pretty wacky, and in hindsight, a solid preview of things to come.
A long term houseguest more of a resident or tenant
So would Hilton Hhonors.
Was she mixed up with that one too…can’t remember what happened there either, just remember the Pony who sort of slipped off my radar.
Oh yes - I was yelled at several times by her when that precious pony was in the clinic.
Was that the pony who passed away in Kentucky? Or am I thinking of a different one?
I’m guessing your idea and my idea of prepping horses is very different.
Absolutely! All anyone needs to do is use the search button on this forum or go on Google.
As far as, “Don’t believe everything you read”, I think I will stick with the New York Times. It is a reputable source of factual news. Better yet, here is a copy of the police report filed by Elizabeth Mandarino explaining how a pony in her care died at the Devon Horse Show. https://horseauthority.co/mandarino-…g-ponys-death/
Yes.
