Sporthorse rehab facilities with swimming?

Posting here instead of Horse Care to reach the H/J crowd. Has anyone had recent good experiences with any rehab facilities in the SE that have the facilities for the horse to be able to swim? I would appreciate hearing about any recent experiences or suggestions.

It was quite a few years ago, but last time I was at the Rolex (now Land Rover) Three Day Event in Lexington KY, I was taken on a tour of several TB breeding farms and a rehab facility that had swimming facilities. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of it, but with all the TBs in that area, I’m sure if you google there should be at least one. Sorry I can’t be more specific, maybe you would have better success on the Racing forum. There must be some people there in the Lexington area who would be able to make recommendations.

The racing forum is a good thought, thx. I cross-posted in eventing as well.

I just sent you a private message.

Mill springs, NC

I can’t think of the name right now but there is an Arabian farm somewhere in GA that had swimming facilities. I’ll try and look it up later, or you might be able to find it with a google search. Not sure if they allow outside horses to use it or not though.

Kesmark in Kentucky has a pool and an aquatread. Typically, aquatreading is better for horses. Swimming is much harder on backs and stifles.

Try EQUINE SWIMMING POOL. I have recently experienced them.
There are a lot of Locals out there who offers rehab service.

Maybe that is the place I am thinking of, because they also had aquatreading.

Normar in Freeland MD has aqua tread plus a number of other options. Excellent place if it’s within your SE geography.

Another vote for normar

Midwest Thoroughbreds in Ocala has swimming facilities, but I have no idea if they offer rehab services.

Thanks but MD would be too far - Kentucky, Ocala, Aiken, etc . . . would all be viable but MD would put the horse too far away for checking in.

Lane’s Mark, in Ocala, has an aquatread. I’m not sure that they allow horses to stay on site, though.

I have no experience with them, but have heard good things. In Ocala:

Thanks, a friend has used EPIC before with good results. But I guess after today’s EHV news out of Ocala I need to see how that plays out to see if Florida gets marked off my list!!

Swimming CAN be a great method for rehabbing horses, but it is not for all conditions. My horse is one such example. He went from a horse with an injury to a lifelong pasture pet. Please get 2 opinions on the injury and the benefits of each method of rehab

FYI this thread is 10 months old, multiple well regarded sport horse vets all agreed it was appropriate for the horse’s injury and mapped out the rehab plan, and the horse is thankfully fully recovered and back to showing!
