Well, in my opinion…
I’m a retired dressage rider and I would buy the Bennetton Dream foal before it was weaned as long as its legs and movements were looking correct, especially out of a well put-together Don Schufro mare. It may be even the kind of foal that kicks my butt back to the physiotherapist and fitness trainer, and back into the saddle again. At the very least, it may be a foal I send to one of my various international riders to compete for me.
Otherwise, I also will steer clear of making suggestions for your mares. It really is a personal choice of what stallion type fits your mares’ types and what you want from the offspring.
More often than not, an upper level dressage horse is going to be what people often refer to as “sensitive”. Being a retired FEI rider, I prefer to call those horses SPECIAL or STAR quality. They kinda have to be to compete internationally. Not all of them are, but most of them are. So those horses are for the well-above-average amateur who is into FEI competition and has international aspirations. And that’s a smaller marketbase - fewer people are at that level, maybe 5% of the world. These people are travelling inter-state / inter-provincially, and also loading up the horses in planes and flying off to distant places.
If you’re breeding for the average amateur, then you want a quieter horse, albeit one that has lovely enough movement to get to about Fourth Level, maybe PSG or Inter-I, great rideability and trainability, which allows the rider to have a lot of fun at the state/provincial shows, and get into the ribbons consistently. This is where the majority of your marketbase is - 95%.
Again, just my opinion.
