Stallions with a good jump and easygoing temperament?

Another option maybe and Irish Draught with a high % of Tb. I do not know anything about the IRD horses, but there are some folks on the board who do. The reason I would suggest maybe looking in that direction is the body type of a draft (your percheron 1/2) is more similar to that of the draught horse. Hence, you may get a bit more predictability especially if using one with a lot of Tb. They are also known to produce eveners/ jumpers so more to what you are wanting in terms of function.[/QUOTE]

I have one such cross actually, her dam is 1/2 perch 1/2 tb and sire is RIDSH (tbxID). She is coming two so can’t speak too much on rideability but I don’t suspect that it will be anything less than amazing. She it’s quite athletic, has a great brain and VERY amateur friendly (thank goodness).

Thanks, all for the responses! This is something I’m considering years ahead, and just trying to get educated for now. You’ve given me some great stallions, and lots of good opinions to consider. I appreciate your time.

Salute the Truth foals are definitely pro rides in my experience. They are very talented but not something most of us mere mortals would want to ride.

I would agree. I have a mare bred very similarly to Salute The Truth who is not an easy horse either… So it’s in the genes. I bred her last year/ due in March
And temperament was a biggie in the stallion search. She has finally chilled out a bit this year… At 8…

Salute the Truth is actually quite well known for producing amateur-friendly horses. Easy to start, easy to ride, good brains. There are always exceptions to every rule, though.

The vast majority of mare owners are breeding for themselves and they are 95% amateurs. We get updates from time to time and when they’re accompanied by photos, we put them up on our Facebook page. You can see what people have said about their foals here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.428004341620.221862.82669431620&type=3

Does Lotus T produce good temperaments? He’s Holsteiner who is 3/4 TB with a super fancy trot and a great jump. You’d get chestnut as he is also chestnut. Andras is on here and on Facebook. His website is: http://prairiepinesfarm.com/

My TB stallion Noles has produced very good jumpers with good necks, minds and form over fences. He’s 15.2 and a more refined TB so he could lighten your mare up a bit. The link is to his page on Facebook.
