Starting over, again…..and need help with a name

He does NOT look that big! But, hey, my new one didn’t either and he’s 17.1 (I’m 5’3" on a good day, so I regularly get on from the garden wall and use a stepstool to tack up.) Stylish is great! Hopefully, Snorty settles down to Flares soon.

So handsome!!!

I’m glad OP picked a name. As for me, I’m still trying to name the gray I picked up on Oct 30. He won’t tell me his name!

First ride was a success! And look where my stirrups fall on this beast!

He’s super cool! And looks very kind and happy to work for having been feral for awhile! Glad you found a name—he’s definitely Stylin’ . I’ve had two gray OTTBs—my junior horse was called British Sterling, and my most recent gray was Silver Commander, aka Grady. I lost Grady (age 19) in July 2019 from melanoma. In October that same year, I lost my bay OTTB, Pacer (age 9) to a rapid-onset neurological issue with a long name I can’t spell. And I lost my favoritest OTTB (age 9) in Feb, 2021 to a massively enlarged spleen that was discovered during exploratory surgery looking for enteroliths. Rough patch for sure. I have a dark bay Malibu Moon OTTB now who needs a buddy, so…looking but not quite ready .It still hurts for a long time when you lose one.

Drool  JC name?

His JC name is Credit Swap, by Exchange Rate. I’m not very knowledgeable about TB breeding lines but he came from very good connections and he was stakes placed as a youngster. So far with me he seems happy to go slow :upside_down_face:

I met Exchange Rate at his stud. I have photos somewhere. Gorgeous stunning animal. I can totally see the resemblance!

Yours was sold as a yearling for $100k and then again as a 2 year old for $130k.

He’s just lovely! I’m surprised he’s as dark as he is at 6- I had a grey TB mare I got when she was 3 and she was already much lighter than this!

Yes I just found a picture from his first race as a 2-yr-old and you’d never know he would dapple out the way he has! (I did purchase this photo)

Ooh gorgeous photo and thank you for posting. Finding my guy’s win photos has been on my to-do list forever and sure enough, they’re on Equiphoto! Did you get the 500-pixel personal use download or the higher-quality version?

They grey out at different rates, homozygous for grey tends to be faster than heterozygous. I wish someone could fix steel grey as a colour, they are gorgeous.

@2bayboys Your boy is lovely, I bought a mare as a bay 4yo (with a hint of grey) she was steel grey by the time she was 6, but only slowly dappled out. She still had steel grey legs and lots of dark grey when she was 10,

As a kid I used to dream of having four greys named for the winds: Shamal (Marley), Chinook (Nookey), Mistral (Misty), & Sirocco (Rocky). I gift you these names as I am never ever going to have a grey again :rofl::rofl:.

I thoroughly recommend Haas brushes for Greys, especially the Schimmel combined with the soft curry comb, great used in combination for removing mud and stable stains.

Rut roh. I might actually be falling for this guy.

(Note neck strap. Because I’m old and he’s big and I’m not ashamed to grab and hold on when things go south.)

Damn he’s nice! Don’t blame you for the strap. One of the reasons I like my western saddle when I’m not riding regularly.

He’s so gorgeous no one’s going to notice a neck strap! I just assumed it was a martingale anyhow.

I second @EADoug! We have to be able to say “I knew him when…” once he becomes famous. Holy cow, he’s awesome. What a good boy!
