4 years ago I paid something like $15 for a streaming service that catalogued competition, not just live streamed.
Suggestions?
Okay here is my public service announcement good deed for the year: you can watch NBC (and the olympics, including live streams) via SlingTV. https://www.sling.com/
My boyfriend had ordered it to watch soccer stuff, and when I was googling the heck out of this problem, I discovered that Sling also carries the NBC channels. We have Amazon Fire TV, and when I opened the Sling App through it, there was a channel devoted to Olympic coverage that showed all of the broadcasts and live streams you can watch. It appears to be full access.
I think it’s like $25 per month. Make sure you buy the package that includes NBC or it would be pointless. Beyond that I have no details and no experience with the service, but I can let you know when the opening ceremonies begin if it’s a go. Hope this helps others who are happy to pay but not willing to get a cable subscription.
You can probably watch the BBC coverage with Hola.
Yes, looks like Sling Blue is a good option if you do not have a cable or dish service with NBC Sports in the channel lineup. It’s legal because you pay Sling for the service, and Sling pays NBC. I have cable, so I tested my user ID and password to log into the NBC Olympics website today. It worked fine. If you’re going to do it that way, find your user ID and password now, and make sure everything works. There is a drop down box to select your cable or dish provider, and then you have to enter your user ID and password.
StreamHorseTV.com (business I run along with a friend) has an easy-to-use listing of all the streams, and links to them on the website Events tab. We put that together after slogging through the abysmal NBC Olympics website. We also included start times in three different time zones. Brazil time, USA Eastern time, and British Summer time. Some of the listings I’ve seen don’t clearly state time zone, and we don’t want anyone to miss anything. Our Planet Equestrian blog tab has been updated with more detailed info about viewing, including info for most major countries. Many people use StreamHorseTV.com as a portal to livestream viewing, so we will have info and updates, especially on Twitter.
I just realized that the NBC Sports app on my Apple TV is showing the Olympics. Yeah!

If you’re using the NBC Sports app on a phone or tablet you can set up alerts for particular sports - so theoretically I’ll get alerted every time the equestrian events are on. We’ll see![/QUOTE]
Thanks for the tip, I just set up my alerts too, I hope it works.
Just found out the app requires a cable provider. Blech. I cut the cord a long time ago. Guess I’m not watching the Olympics this year–they can stuff it!
Sling Blue should work for cord-cutters.
I’m going to give Sling TV a try for live coverage. The first 7 days are free.
For pulling up old videos I will probably use a proxy and go through the BBC or CBC.
If anybody has figured how to get the olympics on a kindle fire, let me know. I do have a comcast account
Tried–bumped me out before I could logon.
Sling only available inside US. Ditto NBC.
No TV so will be looking for net livestream available in Canada- and usually something becomes available. We were able to watch a lot of London equestrian events by searching around.
and CBC usually has some coverage
I wont do the proxy stuff because crashed my computer last time tried that.

Hey, just wanted to give you a head’s up that one of the links isn’t working. Might just be because there’s nothing to stream yet, however…
I clicked on the link in your sig, then clicked “live streaming” under the Rio Eventing in top left corner. Chrome gave me an error with this message:
www.stream.nbcolympics.com’s server DNS address could not be found.
Thanks! Just fixed it. We will have to baby-sit the link on the Home page, because it is for each specific event. The website Events tab has a table that’s good for the whole Games.
Hmmm…may have to try the Sling. I will be flying out to Pittsburgh on Monday morning and do not want to miss cross country. I will have to figure out how to work in Tuesday’s show jumping with training at a store and time with my family. And I really want to watch coverage next weekend while I am at AETA, but wifi at the Oaks tends to suck, so it will be interesting. I do have the DVR set to record in case I miss anything.
Just watched the first Dressage ride. Jessica Phoenix on A Little Romance. The NBC Olympics website sign-on process was a bit annoying. I had tested it a day or two ago, and thought it would remember me. It didn’t. It popped up a box with my Cable provider’s name, but I still had to select it again from the dropdown box. Then it tried to “help” by providing my email address, but it wasn’t the one associate with my cable TV account, so I had to change it. After entering my password, I was able to view with no problems. They have commentators. No on-screen name of horse and rider, no on-screen scoring, and no on-screen link to start times that I could see.
I’m trying to watch the dressage rides but shockwave keeps crashing for the rides. No problem with the ads, of course.

Success! using my Amazon Fire TV.

NBC seems to be allowing about 20-30 minutes free streaming before they make you log in. I got to see Boyd Martin and a few others before it made me log in. It is VERY laggy though at times.
