Please be aware of Mr Black .
I think, in this country, individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty. This would apply as well in SafeSport accusations. Thanks.
He is suspended for a reason.
Jealoushe, 'reason" given could specious, or could be valid. Again, you must wait for verification before saying he is a “dangerous” man. (I didn’t look around the Safe Sport site too much, so reason, with verification, may have been posted. Was it?)
It says allegations of misconduct. Which could be a variety of things. Thanks for giving the heads up!
You don’t need one write up to know he’s a bit dangerous. He’s been arrested for other reasons in the past, he has a record, this isn’t exactly new news. He’s had trouble with the law before.
I deleted my comments so the thread stays open. I don’t know how to navigate the Safe Sport site, sorry.
Yeah, I was going to say that this is not entirely surprising.
Yeah, I thought everyone knew he was a little cray cray already. I mean if you didn’t, surely you did after the whole “the farm owners killed my girlfriend and hid her body thing”. There was even a Facebook page about it.
I thought his name was Steuart Black? Or am I thinking of another event rider with this peculiar spelling/
Not surprised at ALL.
Ya know, the whole “innocent until proven guilty” is a legal concept. It does not alter the public’s right to know of a suspected danger. How much news consists of “so-and-so was arrested on a 1st degree murder charge,” or drug possession or jaywalking. Nobody has stated that he is guilty, just putting the news out. Private organizations may suspend members for allegedly violating the rules. No necessity for a conviction in a court of law.
OK…I’m going to have to look that one up. I had not heard that one although he has had a reputation for some time. But safe sport is new as are suspensions from it. Anyone know how it works? I know trainers make a pledge but when I read the more general stuff it would seem to not really work well with equestrian as a sport. But what does it take to be suspended? I would think it takes more than just an allegation but honestly don’t know how it works.
The thread is still on COTH but everything has been removed from it. circa 2009
He was charged with domestic assault/violence before the Pan Ams one year and was removed from the team. That may be enough to get him on the list?
Is this a new incident or is it more like a lifetime achievement award?

Color me sadly unsurprised.
This is a separate incident, there are multiple. They are recent. I don’t want to put any more as people get upset on here. Just want the public to be aware to steer clear.
ETA that I am aware of what the allegations are, they are confirmed from a very reliable source. So this isn’t just accusations flying around.
New to me, too. But I wish COTH was not always so quick to try to ruin a person’s reputation and get all gossipy about a person. There have been a couple of people on COTH who probably deserved the comments, but in this case I do not know…better to stick to real facts, or not at all, unless you know him to be an axe murderer.
Fairly certain he ruined his reputation himself a long time ago.
