Nothing about this has been quick. I believe Mr. Black has managed to ruin his own reputation with no help what so ever from COTH.
This, in spades.
I know him to be not far off your comments. So this warning is valid. I waited until the Safe Sport suspension notice went out to post this.
Have any criminal charges been filed? Once that happens it is a matter of public record…
SafeSport suspensions are themselves public and not imposed without some investigation. From the USEF site SafeSport FAQ -
The U.S. Center for SafeSport may impose interim measures, i.e. a temporary suspension, when they deem it is appropriate to ensure the safety and well-being of the Reporting Party, Athletes, other Non-Athletes or the Responding Party. Interim measures may be appropriate where an allegation against the Responding Party is sufficiently serious that the Responding Party’s continued participation could be detrimental to the sport or its reputation.
For more information refer to the U.S. Center for Safe Sport Practices and Procedures, please visit: https://www.safesport.org/files/index/tag/policies-procedures
Is there a process for a person to seek relief from a temporary suspension?
Yes. An individual may request that the U.S. Center for SafeSport stay the temporary suspension in certain circumstances, e.g. participation in a certain event. In addition to, or in lieu of, a request for a stay, the individual may request an interim measures hearing, which will be afforded within 72 hours of such request. The interim measures hearing is conducted before an independent arbitration body.
Because as we all know, USEF SafeSport was set up to protect the equestrian community from axe murderers.
I do note that some of the Interim Suspensions have been in place for 3 or more mo. How long does/should it take to resolve things?
Alright, someone teach me how to put quotes in signatures??
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Is he the one that changed nationalities and became a canadian just to get on the team at one point
Thank you @Saskatoonian, I think some people still don’t get that safesport suspensions/penalties do not simply occur when someone makes an allegation.
those charges were dropped.
This made me spit my hot drink all over my keyboard!!!
 I googled him. Seems he did ruin his own reputation. He sounds like a very unsavory character.
Most people don’t admit to having major trouble with their GI system, such as Chron’s disease, unless what they are trying to make an excuse for is much worse, like in his case apparently.
I am not defending him at all, and I’m not surprised he is in some sort of trouble again, but its been common knowledge for years about the Crohn’s disease and why do you say its something people won’t “admit to”? Its nothing to be ashamed of, I know a few people with that disease and they are not at all secretive about it.
Somehow I figured someone on COTH would make an issue out of every little detail and try to turn this into an argument or away from the original topic, like being keeper of the public morals
In Stuart’s case, he’s admitting he has to go on “medical leave” as a reason for having stepped down from the team when it’s likely more related to his trouble with the law. So to go into detail about his medical issues sounds suspicious right after he’s been charged/arrested/or whatever it was…
It should be noted that as far as Safesport is concerned, the allegations of bad behavior need not be new or criminal. Simply having a “consensual” affair with an adult student is a violation of the Safesport code. What is not well understood is what level of allegation warrants placing an individual on the interim banned list and whether there are penalties for violations of the Safesport code other than removing the perpetrator from active participation in sport. Further, it is not clear to me whether a history of domestic violence, substance abuse or other criminal acts fall within Safesport’s subject matter jurisdiction or not since they may not include sexual acts or unsafe or abusive coaching behaviors.
If you need to put consensual in quotes, you have a problem. A truly consensual affair between adult student and adult trainer is not a violation of SS. The problem is true consent where an imbalance of power exists. That’s defined. This isn’t that hard.

Here’s a little snippet.
Sexual misconduct
1. Generally
Sexual misconduct offenses include:
a. Sexual Conduct (or attempts to commit the same),
without Consent.
b. Sexual Conduct (or attempts to commit the same),
where there is a Power Imbalance, regardless of
purported Consent.
c. Sexual Harassment.
d. An Intimate Relationship involving a person in a
Position of Power where a Power Imbalance exists.
I can’t help it: it’s making me crazy to have so much misinformation spread. But I know I’m turning into a broken record. Better go ride!
