At least someone is trying to do something about this. Suffolk Downs had a horse in/around the 2001-2003 seasons called Go Bam Bam Go that I liked but I cannot seem to get any info on his whereabouts now. Google turns up nothing but I hope he is ok.
I too find it hard to believe that noone notices a horse leaving the grounds with a stranger. Maybe a better security system in place to alert owners/trainers that someone claims their horse has been sold to them.

Funny you should mention Bam Bam! I, too, followed him closely because he had raced against my own horse in NY back in the day.

I can tell you that Bam Bam had a really decent owner who sold him as a stud prospect to someone in Oklahoma. It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything new, but last I did hear - maybe 2 years ago - Bam Bam was doing well and his owner had kept in touch with the new owner. And I found him listed on this page as a son of Two Punch currently standing at stud:

Bam Bam was such a nice horse, gorgeous, and so kind for a stallion.

As for everything else: CANTER NE is hoping to talk to Mike Gill one Saturday to introduce our program. Let’s hope it will lead to some good.

FYI, for the past few years, Suffolk was nearly Gill-free. He’s back this year in a big way, teamed with trainer James Taglianetti, claiming horses left and right. Cutthroat. Another good argument against claiming races.

ahhh that’s why CANTER isn’t saying anything. They know he is super rich and just care about the money. If they too cared about the horses then they would be talking to Suffolk Downs about how he should not be allowed on the track.

As a layman racing fan, I have read this thread and see that you horselver101 are quick to criticize everyone else on the thread. So I am curious as to what exactly you have done/are doing to benefit the horses? If you want to recruit others to help in your cause, perhaps you should share what it is and how to participate.

I do not see how bashing every other poster on this board, whether they are right wrong or in between is helping a single horse.

1. Care about what money? He’s not going to give them any money, but will perhaps allow them to list his horses with CANTER.

I’ve never isulted anyone. I’ve said that there defense of Mike Gill is ignorant. Has anyone else thrown any facts out. Which facts have I messed up on? I messed up with accidentally calling him a trainer and the operation he does with his horses. Two of them died the other day from the operation and thats a fact. Two of them broke their legs the other day that a fact. Someone give me some facts to oppose me but all you people are saying I’m childish and acting stupidly. No one has actually thrown anything at me to say what I am saying is a lie or misskewed about Mike Gill.

CANTER’s job is to stay in a position where all the trainers feel like they can approach them, and that CANTER is available to help everyone (meaning everyone’s HORSES) - no questions asked. If word got out on the backside that CANTER was badmouthing trainers and trying to get them removed from Suffolk, how long do you think it would take before trainers stopped using CANTER to find their horses new homes?

Besides, for all you know, CANTER has talked to Suffolk about issues they see on the backside - I am not saying they have, as I really have no idea what goes on between CANTER and Suffolk - but just because we haven’t heard about it here on the board doesn’t mean it isn’t happening (and for the answer as to why it might be kept private, see the first half of my post)

I would also like to know what you have done to help the horses… flaming and bad mouthing everyone who has a different view point then you doesn’t count.

I would bet my life that no horses died from a freaking myectomy. Now you are just throwing out bold faced lies. That is an incredibly simple operation that even a know nothing like you could perform if you wanted to. Give it a rest will you, go play in traffic or something.

I’ve seen lots of things at Suffolk, from the Buddy LeRoux days on the backside to the tippety top of the grandstand just last weekend, and so far I have yet to bump into the troll which supposedly is taking notes to vomit forth here.

I have, however, seen lots of caring, dedicated CANTER NE volunteers working hard to keep horses from falling through the cracks and --very importantly-- maintaining a diplomatic relationship with the trainers. Alienating the horsemen ultimately hurts the horses.
