I also second Belefonte. The boy has lots of talent and heart!
Popeye is also competing well in eventing.

"Diarado is a very petite 16.3 "
I understand he is a big guy but some big stallions throw small for example Acord III who is 17 hands tends to throw children around 16ish hands so I was told when we bred to him and I thought Diardo’s mare line (option?? ) can throw small as also reflected by Corofino’s tendency… but maybe I am remember all this incorrectly and I dont think it is in a book. :-)[/QUOTE]
That was sarcasm…I’d say a petite 16.1? I didn’t hold a stick to him, but he was small…a pleasant little fellow when I saw him The stallion Califax was strolling by, and he was what I’d consider a real 16.3, with what seemed to be 2" on Diarado. Sir Shutterfly was in the stall next/adjacent, and he was maybe a smidgen taller than Diarado? Just keeping it real here - why height is so ‘subject to interpretation’ I don’t quite understand. I’d absolutely breed Diarado to a big rangey mare w/impeccable hind legs. He’s very refined & light, and you wouldn’t want to loose the power. A special horse though.
sorry-and that is super informative! I have just seen video-sure not the same thing!
Thanks again for the posts! We’ve looked at every stallion so far and all are great suggestions.
Does anyone have experience with crossing pony/small stallions to bigger mares? What kind of results?
I own the GRP stallion Popeye who stands at Hilltop. We trained him up through PSG in Dressage and he is now eventing and is a super jumper. He’s been crossed with pony mares and horse mares with very good results. He trains with Ryan Wood and one of his team members competes him for us. I just saw him yesterday and he’ll be back to competing in a few weeks. Several of his offspring have done with the Mare Performance Test of Sporthorse test - all with solid scores We have two - Popgun and Piper doing the test at Hilltop August 16th.
I too suggest a Connemara. Our stallion is currently performing in the dressage ring and his babies are just being started. He has incredible bone, movement and temperament.
This is his coming 4 year old daughter ( TB cross) just being started:
