Super cute dog beds that don't cost a fortune?

I just got my Fetchdog catalog. There are some nice dog beds in there, but they cost $150 or more! I need two new dog beds but I absolutely.will.not.spend that kind of money.

Where do you get your seriously cute dog beds that don’t cost a fortune?

I bought a two-seater couch from Ikea for about that much that makes a really nice large dog bed. Comes with removable washable covers in cute patterns.

Infant matresses also make nice large-dog beds. Many come with waterproof covers.

If you want cheap + sturdy + easy to wash up, old square saddle pads make THE BEST dog beds.

I was going through this search not to long ago, and let me tell ya, it is extremely difficult to find anything of quality at a reasonable price. Reasonable price being under $100. I’m a college student, i.e. poor, and I needed a bed for my new puppy. I obviously didn’t need therapeutic, hes just a pup so no arthritis obviously, but I did want something with sherpa on it. That made prices go through the roof. I eventually settled on a dog bed from Llbean, but only because I have a gift card to there.

This is the one I just purchased http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/70777?moe=ordhistory&feat=WEB-od

He doesn’t like anything that isn’t super fluffy, as I found out when I bought a cheaper bed from petsmart that was just not up to his standards.

The beds I have for my dog probably don’t qualify as “seriously cute” but I think they look nice enough! They’re from Costco and only cost about $20. The top part of the bed is a neutral, solid color and the sides have a nice pattern, Costco usually has several different colors/patterns. The beds are big enough for a large lab to have plenty of room and the covers unzip and can go right in the washing machine!

We get ours at sams club and never pay more than 40 for one. They’re not always the best selection but occasionally they have the ones with the serta filling, or similar memory foam. Ours and our dogs’ favorites are the ones with the chopped up foam but the filling is quilted if you will- sewn into different sections so the middle doesn’t get flat with everything pushed to the sides.

No wait. I stand corrected. We have a few dogs that LOVE anything bolstered. The one schnoodle wedges himself against the rolled up part and settles in for the long haul til his next meal.

I was looking at dog beds on Etsy the other day. There are some really cute ones on there.

Make them. Easy, and fill with cedar shavings.

Costco online (ship for free :)), or buy puffy duvets or quilts from your local thrift shop.

Advantage of quilts is that they’re easier to bung into the washing machine and the tumble-dryer than most dog beds, plus they’re usually only a couple of $$s.

I just saw some really nice ones on Sierra Trading Post - http://www.sierratradingpost.com/s~dog-bed/?perPage=24. If you join their list they send coupons - ex. today I got a 70% off coupon.

And another place I’ve seen nice ones in town is Tuesday Mornings.

I have also seen some nice ones at Aldi’s.

Pet section of Marshalls - I find really nice beds in there for $20 and up.

We just got a new sofa and the dog was barred from using it so my husband made her a bed using scrap wood and a cradle mattress, similar to this.

If that hadn’t been free, I would have gotten a toddler bed off craigslist. There were some really cute ones around here for $25!

This isn’t pretty but my dog loves it with what Wendy mentioned, and old saddle pad on top.

I found ASPCA brand beds at The Christmas Tree Store for about $16. They’re cute, flat with a rounded edge all around. More like a mat than a typical bed, as my dog dislikes anything fluffy.

My dog’s absolute favorite dog bed came from there! It’s a flat green mat, extremely durable (was her outside bed for years) and came through snow, rain, etc. Only about $15 and if I could find another 2-3, I’d be happy.

BTW, does anyone use the Kuranda beds?

I’d just beware of any made in China. Who knows what those are stuffed with?

I think the LL Bean ones are US made. . .

I have several in the house, sunroom, tractor and pickup and paid only around $20 at Petsmart for them.
They have been working fine for my dog for 6 years now.
Some have designer type cloth and are pretty anywhere, others are more plain.

Look around before spending too much.

I found those at Tuesday morning last year and bought two. Wish I’d bought everyone they had cause I couldn’t find them again when I went back. VERY DURABLE and the dogs love them.

A nearby shelter uses the kuranda beds and the dogs passing through there seem to enjoy them. I don’t know what their durability is like. I’ve thought about them for our house but some of our dogs want just any part of the dog bed that they’ll lie half off if that’s all the space they can get- which obviously can’t work with a raised bed like the kuranda.
