TB auction in Hemet, CA

That nice little 2018 filly out of Seedless, by Java’s War just went for $800. I really liked her. I think Seedless herself went for $400 something - she looked to be in rough shape, nice paper though.

Great news about Vitorja.

Amber M can you share your shippers info? (Just sent a PM also).

I can’t tell you how happy I am that some good stories are coming out of this. I hope all of them found homes but I am not optimistic.

Aww yay! I had to leave before the one I had my eye on came up, but that I think that probably was for the best

@PhoenixFarm in your inbox!

The closest thing I have seen to “press coverage” regarding this sale:

http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com…1YIsw.facebook

The article has nothing to do with the sale itself; it just states Andrew Stronach is allegedly in a liquidity crisis of all his assets due to his sister’s mismanagement of Stronach Group funds.

I’m so glad to hear some of the horses got safe landings, although I’m not naive enough to believe they all sold to good samaritans.

Hopefully if any other folks from this forum bought any of these horses, they’ll give us an update.

I bid on 2 fillies and was outbid on both. The Cross Traffic filly and a cute Can the Man filly. I was busy today and unable to bid during the live auction. Had I known that I wasn’t bringing either home, I would have liked to get Bunny Foo Foo and either Ray’s Charm (poor skinny girl) or High Definition. I wish I had been able to access computer during the live auction part. Poor mares. Really worried where they went.
There was a nice Milwaukee Brew colt and a grey Einstein filly that both disappeared from the auction page. Wonder where they went?

@jolise Such a shame. I liked Bunny Foo Foo and High Definition too.

I’d love to know if anyone reputable and kind got one of the older mares that went for $500… Wekiva Mist, her filly, Snow Angel, Seedless (she was a bit lower at 400), or that 2018 filly from Seedless. Cute little filly… I’m praying about that one.

I’m trying not to think anymore about some of the other girls who went for the $100 to $200 range.

I had put a pre bid on the Milwaukee Brew colt, really liked him, and that filly too. Also curious where they went. I may have found someone who knows some info, and I’ve asked her to check into it.

@PhoenixFarm - one of the few bright spots is your little girl from In Two Notes and Musketier. Thank goodness you did what you did. I hope that one grows up to be a world beater…

I looked back at my other posts - In Two Notes herself went for $600. Fingers crossed she gets a soft landing and some quality groceries.

I know a friend of a friend that bought Heaven’s Saint, Luckyanunoit and the grade colt out of Coastal Tide. So, 3 more that ended up in a good place.

According to Facebook, the mare Aventurine, in foal to North Light, found a soft landing with someone who is excited about the mare and foal.

This has to be killing Frank because he was one of the first to actually create a program to retrain and rehome his horses. I may not agree with much of his decisions regarding racing ie what’s going on with Pimlico but his horse welfare ideals are beyond reproach.

A simple Google search of old news about this situation made what happened a little more clear - at least to me. I don’t have any first hand knowledge of the racing industry, etc, as some of you do.

I thought I would link to an article from back in December of 2017, which clarifies how this situation got started, in case anyone else wanted a bit more background info. It’s amazing how much went wrong in under 12 months.

The comments are interesting. I hope one of the bigger publications does a follow up story. But I can understand they might not - this thing is quite the black eye all around…

way to go COTHers! I just signed back in to see that you all have purchased a number of them! Cant wait to see what they look like in a few months time. Hopefully the rest landed in safe homes as well :frowning:

Ok folks … I’m sharing a post from a Facebook group, OTTB Connect. According to that post, shipping fell through on 4, including two registerable youngsters. One was a 2018 filly from the mare Wekiva Mist… lot 28. That mare was very nicely bred, won over $100,000 on the track, and a gelding if hers by Candy Ride won overof $600,000. The sire of the filly is Silver Max… here’s a link to his info for anyone curious, as well as another link to Wekiva Mist’s pedigree… which is very nice for sport!

That registerable, 2018 filly can be had for $525 apparently. If I was in SoCal right now, I’d go get her.

Anyway - here’s the rest of the info from Facebook. Lot #2 was a mare named Twirly Bird. I’d have to go back to the catalogue to figure out who the sire of #6 was, and who #9 was.

Lot #2 2009 mare in foal to City wolf can be purchased for 250.00
Lot 6-124 2018 weanling Colt. Stud fee paid just needs the 225 paid out of she’s Irresistible. 500.00
Lot #9 open mare for 250.00
Lot 28-171 2018 filly out of Wakiva Mist registerable like Colt for 525.00

Do you have a link to the OTTB connect post? Is there a contact at the sale?

I just called and spoke to one of the people on site. She said that nothing is confirmed as far as sales falling through, but she will call me back when she has the information.

I bid on the last two, thrilled they landed safe!

Can you share that number, I’m trying to confirm pickup of mine and had trouble. I’d consider throwing another one the van if the FB post proves true.
