TB auction in Hemet, CA

Yes and I was thankful to see that. This filly is stunning.

The disorganization at pickup must have been breathtaking, as PhoenixFarm said. A friend and I took two, a foal out of Wekiva Mist and the mare Twirly Girl. Both of them are thin, the foal very thin. There are no health records on the foal or mare, so it is likely she was never dewormed nor given shots and the mare hadn’t been given rhino shots. No foot care, which of course would have been difficult since she isn’t halter trained. She is eight months old, and I think she was weaned. My preference would have been a mare, but when I called the day after the auction, there was only one mare, the filly I bought, and two or three colts. Clearly there were many more than that. It is hard to know where to place blame for this situation.

This certainly explains the grade foals by World Renowned, but I am curious how North Light, City Wolf etc are not connected or mentioned.

Oh snap.

This also may explain why:
a) Anderson kept mum during the sale
b) Jockey Club and CTBA would not publicly comment on the situation

I am still ticked off over how this all went down. Now I’m ticked off at more people. You all suck. (not “you” reading this; “you” meaning those who had their hands in this mess)

North Light and City Wolf are owned by Adena. Eric Yohan purchased Brazeau Farms and renamed it EF1 Farms. He went into partnership with Andy Stronach (representing Adena & the Stronach Group) to stand those two Adena stallions there and build a large mare base. I was told Anderson remained on at the farm as the manager, but that is also second hand information from a source I cannot confirm with certainty. She likely had little to do with the management of those two stallions if they are not part of this situation.

Although now that the pieces are falling into place; I wonder if the horses sold were a contingent from those 170 horses she brought to Brazeau to begin with. She may have bred them to the Adena stallions before all of this went public, hence the lack of paid stud fee/stallion certificates.

I’m sorry I wasn’t more clear! I am perplexed how they’re not involved if, as the article says, there was no breeding shed on the ranch. Maybe this was a separate property? I do believe Nadine was in fact manager up until the end or close to it, and that World Renowned is/was her own stallion. This injunction must have been in the works for a while, as I think the grade World Renowned’s in the auction were yearlings & 2 year olds, but I could be wrong.

It says there was no breeding shed during their investigation of Brazeau; it doesn’t say anything about the brief time period when the Adena Stallions were there under the EF1 banner. I’m betting Yohan and Stronach built one.

Heck, that even may be how she got busted. You buy a working breeding farm and surprise! It doesn’t have the facilities necessary to be a working breeding farm.

Or, like you suggest, this was an annexed parcel of property under the same farm name.

Although I found that particular statement about the shed odd, as you certainly don’t need a formal “breeding shed” to do live cover. Now, it would be suspicious if there was no sort of housing whatsoever for stallions… just large pastures full of mares…

This whole situation just gets more and more crazy.

As far as Eric Yohan and breeding practices at EF1… this bizarre interview from back in early 2018 details his “plans”… which apparently included videotaping each and every breeding “so that there wouldn’t be any controversy.”

It’s a VERY odd interview.
