TB Buckpasser?
One of my best show hunters of all time was a Buckpasser Grand son. He was by a horse called Pass the Glass.
I have Pass the Glass as the dams sire - like I mentioned before, he is not lacking in the jump catagory.

My 8yo OTTB mare has him in the 4th on the sire’s side through a mare called Con Game who is the dam of Seeking the Gold, my mare’s Grandsire. She’s 16hh, very refined and elegant, excellent feet, athletic, very sweet and tries very hard to please.

I have a mare that has Buckpasser on her sire’s side. It’s 4 generations back. She’s wonderful and very much a pleaser. She’s honestly the best TB I’ve ever met. She’s only 15.1+ but can clear 5 ft with room and has a very natural jump and beautiful step. She is very muscular.

Here’s a link to my appendix Quarter horse when he was 3:

I studied his history because he appears to be nothing like his dad or mom - and I wanted more insight on him - he was a bit of a bug as a youngster. After searching and reading - I found the missing link. Despite Buckpasser being a couple generations back in his breeding - that great stallion is dominant in my boy, not only does he look like him - but his personality is very similar - almost scary.

Elliot is very bright which means there’s no “going to sleep” on him. He learns fast, however, there’s no pushing him into something - success comes when it’s his idea. Using a whip on him? Uhh…forget it! Ask and ye shall receive. Whip and ye shall eat dirt . He’s almost 7 now and raising him has been well worth the time and effort. He’s very connected to me and would walk through fire if I asked him to. He’s matured into a very lovely young man - well mannered but still always a bit of that arrogance remains. His dad has multiple AQHA World titles - over fences and on the flat, and honestly, it’s as if he knows he comes from greatness - just hope we can get it done in the ring.

Thanks for sharing your Buckpasser stories!

There was a nice 1988 Buckpasser grand-daughter (through Buckfinder) went through Keeneland January sales as an estate dispersal, she was in foal and brought 2500, wish I had the finances, I would have loved to bring her home.

My current two breeding stallions are both Buckpasser! Claim to Fame’s conformation and performance credentials are WELL proven…I totally credit his elegance to his dam, a Buckpasser granddaughter…via Buckfinder and Assult Landing. He is one of the most comfortable, sweet and kind stallions you’d ever find!!!

His homozygous son, Counterclaim, has Buckpasser on BOTH sides…I just took him out in the woods on a trailride by myself today (a four year old stallion!!)…again as sweet as they come, and definately has Claim to Fame’s lovely chiseled head!!

You can see both on my website!! Buckpasser breeding is my FAVORITE in TB’s!!!

I had a Buckpasser grandson (sold him 10 yrs ago and he eventually wound up with another COTH’er!). Smart, opinionated, compact and athletic as all get out, was a cute little hunter and LOVED to jump. He was adorable, little foxy ears and a big bright star…funny boy!

So the fact that my 2yo has Buckpasser just 3 generations back might be something to be proud of? I admit to knowing little except what I’ve “heard” about him but I always wondered if the fact that my old girl, a granddaughter, was just second generation from him was something special. Very cool

I’d say yes.

Sea Accounts has Buckpasser and Damascus (SJ66 thanks for posting that link, very cool!!) through Private Account, his damsire. I love Private Account and his offspring. They tend to be big, dark (dark brown or black) and athletic with great minds. Of course, Sea Accounts has equally impressive names elsewhere in his pedigree. In fact, he has 17 chefs-de-race and 16 reines-de-cours in his first generations.

Sorry to side track…but interesting. My mare (http://www.pedigreequery.com/charm18) has Tom Fool on her sire’s side. Her sire Foligno is by Foolish Pleasure (the colt that raced Ruffian in the match race where she broke down). He has produced several good jumpers and one of his son’s won the MD Hunt Cup twice…he was a well thought of local TB stallion in this area (known for turf horses primarily). Unfortunately…the Ruffian tragedy probably caused Foolish Pleasure to not be bred to as much as he might have been otherwise.

I did not realize the Tom Fool was Buckpasser’s sire.

I also have had several horses with Buckpasser in their pedigree…hard to tell what traits come from what side of the family…I’ve only ever had Buckpasser a few generations back.

my mare is a silver buck granddaughter.( daring lady)
i also have a 5 yr.old by that’s our buck that is a"10" jumper and very much the hunter type.(thunder in paradise)
i have a coming 3 yr.old out of my silver buck ,are by that’s our buck, so double on both sides.(just buck-it)
i bred for those lines, love anything buckpasser, buckaroo, buckfinder ect…just love them, all very talented horses.

The Buckpasser influence is still out there in racing and sport horses. Silver Charm is a son of Silver Buck but unfortunately he’s been shipped off to Japan. The huge stallion Hand in Glove was a grandson of both Turn-to (sire line) and Buckpasser (on the bottom) – he died a few years back after being sold to France but he’s the sire or grandsire of a number of young event stars (often through the 3/4 TB French stallion Jaguar Mail). The VDL TB stallion French Buffet (GP jumper in Europe) is also a Buckpasser grandson.

I think the Buckpasser type is the perfect look for a TB. Short-coupled, powerful, uphill, elegant. My own TB mare is a Pass the Glass granddaughter who I bought because I thought she was the most beautiful TB I’ve ever seen. She’s a gorgeous moving as she is standing.

I love this thread. What a nice mare JER!

I also had years ago a nice, 17hh hunter that was a grandson of Buckpasser. It was one of my showing highlights to be Champion on him with Rodney judging. He was lovely; a very nice jump, super canter, not the best trot. He did indoors etc…

Here is my guy and my friend has a really nice, quiet Silver Charm gelding in VA.
The first one is my guy, the second is by Silver Charm -

There’s a cute Deerhound mare on Canter PA, surprised no one has picked her up.

http://www.canterusa.org/pennsylvania/horsephotos/ShezaPrincess-2.jpg

It’s a pretty nice pedigree on that mare
http://www.pedigreequery.com/sheza+princess
though with a Sheza name it sounds like a QH!

I just went to Canter site and it says she is SOLD… hey–who got there so fast…???

Haha - someone must have seen her! She’s been on their for months, I’ve been keeping an eye on her  I hope someone reports back on her!

Wow, Sheza Princess and the stunning gelding Glacken look like really nice horses! Great pedigree on the mare.
