TBs bred for sport in PA/MD/VA?

I love a good TB and want to make sure I’m not overlooking any breeders in the mid-Atlantic area that breed for sport? I’ve done some searches but haven’t come up with much of anything yet. I’m very casually browsing and tossing some ideas around for my next prospect. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Dodon Farm in MD. I think they focus more on OTTB rehab than breeding their own, but they stand Salute the Truth who is lovely. They would also certainly know what other farms in the area are also breeding TBs for sport.

I was going to say Dodon Farm as well. They might have some homebreds by Salute the truth

Mary Hazzard and Mystic Replica are in PA, IIRC.

Thanks! Keep them coming!

Is MR still breeding? Or is the rest avail frozen? He’d be on my list if you know, I had a mare.

Big fan of Harry the Hat at Castle Rock but I believe he is retired from breeding now :frowning: Worth checking though!

I love Harry The Hat, I’d love another one of his babies!

Fox Farm (Joan Fox Miller), Warrenton, VA. Fun and Fancy Free, son of Bit of Class.

Last thing that came up when I Googled was 2013, so I’m not sure the status there.

I spoke with Mary a couple years back, and he was still standing then. Give her a call…she’s a hoot, and a wealth of knowledge

Just looked it up–MR did cover 3 JC mares in 2014!

Smallwood farm in crozet VA might? They are standing a REALLY cute TB Stallion now that I’m in love with (Friend or Foe).

Smallwood Farm is one of the places I’ve reached out to, thanks!

Have some by out some feelers, thanks everyone!

Virginia Tech stands Innkeeper at their MARE Center in Middleburg, although he is getting quite up there in age. He is still one of my all time favorite TB stallions-- out of both racing and sport stallions! It’s a sin that they don’t post a conformation shot of him because he really is a sight to behold!

It may be worth asking if they have any TB foals by him available through their sport horse breeding program. They don’t seem to keep their website as well updated as they used to.

I did indeed reach out to them as well, thank you! Unfortunately they don’t have anything available.

ME TOO  I saw at least one baby by Power by Far, another at Castle Rock, that I really liked, but don’t know much about him generally.

Salute the Truth is a Hoist The Flag bred…they tend to be a bit of a handful. This is more acceptable for eventers, but from previous post you are looking for an easy going hunter prospect so might not be the " type" you are seeking.

Thanks for the input and suggestions again, everyone! Enjoying seeing what’s out there!

You could talk to the vet, Tom Newton, who owns Little Hawk Farms and stands Default. He’s a repro vet and might know of some full young TBs in his area of Virginia.

Melissa Mayo is in NE KY and has a Twist line TB stallion available. Getting ready to ship him to Maine to stand, but worth contacting.
