ErJenAli now known as Bobo

Ackerley Brothers Farm, etc.

I worked for Ackerley Brothers Farm in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I often wondered what happened to:

Bus Driver (1997 b. c. by All Gone)
Overdone (1997 dkb/br g. by Well Decorated) - he was claimed and still appeared to be running last year
Valid Andy (1995 c. or g. by Valid Appeal)
Hong Kong Henry (1995 c. or g. by Ramplett)
Compendium (1998 c. by Notebook)
Term Sheet (1998 c. by Concern)
Parlay (1994 m. by Mt. Livermore)

I know that these horses are now in the midst of breeding careers, but wondered if anyone has seen them or their babies recently:

Swearingen (1994 m. by Deposit Ticket)
Little Sister (1994 m. by Valid Appeal)
Jersey Girl (1995 m. by Valid Appeal)
Miss Linda (ARG) (1997 m.)
Major Wager (1998 m. by Valid Wager)

And the stallions:

Valid Expectations (1993 h. by Valid Appeal)
Littleexpectations (1997 h. by Valid Appeal)
Babyexpectations (1998 h. by Valid Appeal)
Snuck In (1997 h. by Montbrook)

And on the other hand, I now own:

It’s Always True (1998 dkb/br g. by Is It True). I know he ran in IN, MI, and OH before he retired. Does anyone remember him?

Alden’s List has been an eventer for a while, was just sold on by Courtney Cooper if anyone wants to contact her. Sorry if someone said this already! Here’s a link to her for sale page:

http://csquarefarm.com/horses_for_sale/alden.htm

There have been so many over the years.

The OTTBs turned eventers that we have now are:

Mr. Wonderman, won a couple, just starting to jump
Yodeller Lake, won a couple, just arrived from KY
Rocky Shores, ran a bunch of seconds, now eating grass in the pasture
Proud Mary Turnin, stakes placed winner, now at the one star level
Phone Prank, nice racehorse, now a budding eventer

some of the ones that we no longer own

Turf Image, sold at Prelim level
Serious Stuff, sold at nov/training level
Orson, sold at Prelim level
Hey Rose, sold to be a polo girl
Clear N’ Present, just sold to be an eventer
Pirate Bert, sold at trn/prelim level
Mr Swift Lane, did a CCI* long format, then sold to a YR
C’est Plus, ran and ran and ran, then made wonderful babies
Dixie Flower, sold at trn level
Flaming Babe, won a few, sold to be a broodmare
J. P. Chips, nice race horse, sold at prelim level

and then there is

Orbits Just Right, he ran, then ponied, then ran some more, won 7 times, last ran at age 12, now at age 22 he’s working part time in KY helping the young ones get used to the track, and he babysits Slew’s Tizzy!

TBs I have known

I have Special Squall (1997, Bay G.). I bought him from a trainer in Indiana after he retired with 71 starts!

He’s learning dressage and loving it!

Piccolittle- I did know she was son on as an eventer. I know most of her history (old friend from high school bought her when we rode together). I know Alden’s mom, half-sister, and half-brother (Champion Timber horse Ironfist).

My friend got her as a 3 y/o from the breeder (Gordie Keys, his daughter owned the barn we rode at). I believe she sold her at 6/7 to a local eventer/dressage trainer when she wasn’t into boys more than horses. I pretty much know most of her early history if you know the person who bought her or know her at all.

My OTTB mare was Adversary Miss ('86).

Haven’t met any of those, but wondering if anyone has worked with my horse’s sire, Bounding Basque (now deceased–raced in the mid 80’s) or any
of his progeny?

And a horse named Fort Metfield that was still racing several years ago–
gorgeous horse! Saw him at Lone Star and he took my breath away that day.[/QUOTE]

I galloped a very sweet Bounding Basque about 10 years ago. The bar on my stirrup was down and as I was working him up the lane it flew off. I hung under his neck for an eighth and have always had a soft spot for him since he didn’t step on me when I finally let go. He even stopped!

Most of these were at the great Horizon Farms in IL when I did my internship there:

Classic Account
Unreal Zeal
Canyon Run
He’s A Tough Cat
Herbs Red Runner
Gleaming Eyes

Kaitlyn Rae
Tiger Liz
Copper Harbor
Devonshire Drive
Classic Mop
Classic Victor
Classic Fantasy
Shamuuu
Aussie Lauder

and many more that don’t come to mind at the moment… I looked on allbreedpedigree, but it seems that all the 2000 on foals of Classic Account have been removed…

Solo Success

Do It Again
Girl Next Door
Gun Metal
Sea Carmen
Two Fisted Drinker

Most of the TBs I have known I didnt know or dont remember thier JC names, but I loved them all!
I own now, Distinctive Queen and Danford.
Be Distinct - I worked with her at SUNY Cobleskill and would LOVE to hear about what she is doing now.

There’s a horse at SUNY Cobbleskill named Rush Chairman Bill who was a really fast NY stakes horse as a two-year-old. Did you know him?

I have owned

Diazo Jo-- dk bay by Diazo and out of Mary Jo Henry. I think he was a '99

Dave’s Power Play- chestnut gelding with 2 rear socks. Forgot his breeding. He was a '96 I think. Last I knew he was in GA but I do not know his whereabouts. Nice horse- Very sane!

Currently own:

Dash N Ash-- '99 bay mare by Half Term out of Stardust Debbie.

Here Comes Bunny-- '04 dk bay filly by Academy Award and out of Besar

Don’t Tell Mom is my 1990 thoroughbred gelding. I can’t read his tattoo but hopefully I’ll be able to get his past performance records and be able to find a pic of him to confirm that it’s my boy. He’d be by Known Fact out of Fairy Circle. He’s a bay with a left front coronet and a star.

His two wins were 10/4/92 at Fairplex Park, race #3, and 2/3/94 at Golden Gate, race #6. I don’t know if the track photographers for either track would have archived photos that old, but it’s where I’d start.

I sure did. I rode him a bunch, mostly with a Dessage saddle. Had to watch I didn’t point him in the direction of a jump, or we would be going over it. He was really cool. Did you know any of the other Coby horses?

I don’t think so but if you know their racing names I might. I knew Bill from the racetrack. Damn, he was REALLY fast. I bet he COOKS cross-country.

Just out of curiosity, how does one try to acquire a “racing” picture? I adopted my boy, and consequently don’t get his papers, but I think it would be neat to grab a picture of him in his “hayday”-just for kicks.
