TB's I Have Known - [FB PAGE STARTED w/ Database!!! - update on 1st post]

Compelling Person

Was he Compelling Sound x Persona Grata? I think I took care of him as a baby, or maybe just his mom, at Country Life Farm. The more I think about it, possibly at one of the Timonium sales also. And I ~loved~ Compelling Sound.

how about my guy?

Back Stage Bouncer

SanDiego, did you work for Country Life? My ears perked up at Compelling Person, too, as I adored Compelling Sound. I know he’s still putting out a couple babies a year up in Washington.

Sly Joe

Here’s a list that I currently own:

Fred Ex - 1994 bay gelding (bred by Flying Zee Stables, NY)
Mozambique - 1995 dk. brown gelding (unknown??)
Grant’s Our Boy - 1996 bay gelding (trained by Susan Fisher, history unknown)
Legal Bill - 1999 chestnut mare (bred by Robert Bakerman, FL)
Woodsplinter - 2002 bay mare (bred by Davidsons Tracks & Time, MI)

I’m lucky enough to know about both of my mares pasts. I have Fred Ex’s papers and he won a few races at Finger Lakes from 1997-2000.

I’ve been told by Jenarby that Grant’s Our Boy was an “old class” racehorse in his day placing in two stakes races in 1999. Both were second place finishes in the Horizon Stakes (turf) and the Green Carpet Handicap. He ran mostly at Thistledown and Mountaineer.

Mozambique is a mystery, papers were lost (divorce) and I never received them when I got him. I would love to know more about his racing history if anyone has heard of him.

It would be great to talk off the board to anyone who may know my “kids”.[/QUOTE]

Does Mozambique have a tattoo on his LOWER lip? Dark bay with irregular star, white on both hind pasterns?
If so, may be 1995 dark bay by Goldgalliano(IRE) out of Can’t Catch Slew by Seattle Slew; bred and ran in Puerto Rico (1 win from 11 starts - $6,266)

A daughter of hers is for sale through CANTER NE - she doesn’t have her mom’s wild markings, but is gorgeous too!

Contrarian Rose

SMS- yes, I did, for about 2 1/2 years while I was in high school. It was a great experience. Unfortunately, I don’t recognize anyone on your list.

17hTB- That’s amazing, her face looks just like her mom’s! If I were on the East Coast, I’d buy her in a heartbeat. $1400 is a steal for that mare! If only shipping were cheaper, I’d buy her anyway. It would be nice to have a horse to ride while my 2yo grows up!

Actually, it turns out I met this filly at CLF 11 years ago! Contrary Rose was there to be bred, and I can’t find a subsequent foal by a CLF stallion, so she must be the foal I met! Now I may have to look into shipping… I bet it’s quite a bit from Massachusetts to San Diego.

Let’s see:
Horses I have personally worked with:
Penumbra
Fleet Aint
Countess Di
Orion the Hunter
Epizootic
The Boppus
Daves Gamble
Beyond the River
Murmadon
Flint Hills

My stepfather was a good trainer in his day and we had some great horses over the years but I am horrible with names…JessiP probably remembers more than me.

Could be good
Consent
Ameri Run
contessa
maltese cat
damnurass?

There were so many but my memory for names is not good.

I know that Murmadon and Fleet Aint ended up with Bev at Midatlantic Horse Rescue and both got homes.

Tradewind- I bought Fleet from Canter Pa (long story but the lady who bought him from me wanted to donate him to MAHR) and he is now eventing with one of my mom’s students. Murmadon is owned by one of my students and has turned out to be a wonderful event horse. We adopted Beyond the River from MAHR also and he turned out to be a super event horse. They have some lovely one’s there!

I am retraining Flint Hills (by El Prado) for Canter Midatlantic and also a horse named General Forest at least that is what is says on his coggins but I couldn’t find him anywhere.

How about Crown Minister, a '94 chestnut gelding with a big white blaze?

He ran at Del Mar and Fairplex Park on southern CA in '96. The trainer was Jason R. Orman. Appears to have bowed a tendon along the way…?

I don’t know this horse, but I just have to say that is a hilarious name. I can’t believe TJC let that one slide.

Jlee…there is a General Forest on Nomination Verification. Don’t know if it could be your guy…it says Ireland bred sire. Not sure how old your guy is either.

a few more probably no-one will recognize…

Ones who’ve made it to my barn over the years:
Silent Professer 1983 Silent Dignity-Midwifery (Run for Nurse) – evented at Prelim with me for over 12 years, now semi-retired at 24 but still going strong

Conerly’s Secret – by Chas Conerly – ran cheap at Fort Erie, got him for almost nothing. sold on as a hunter. Last I heard he was being shown in the Ottawa area as “Brewmaster” but his barn name is still Connor, I believe!

After Finals 1995 – aka Owen – also sold him on as a hunter in the Toronto area, would really like to know how he’s doing

Great Lady 1996 – by El Prado out of a Bold Ruckus mare, ran at Woodbine and Fort Erie mostly. Got one foal out of her, still here, she’s gray and a bit of a hellion, but SO athletic!

Tiempo Del Sol 1999 – by Count the Time – got him from the LongRun Adoption Society at Woodbine last year, would love to know more about his racing history. Chestnut, 15:3, no white, supposedly had starting gate issues but otherwise a sweetheart. He cribs a bit.

I can’t begin to list all the names I remember but I’ll throw out a few that are special to me. Any info on their post-track lives would be welcome:

Greene Monday - chestnut gelding, won 1982 PA Derby at “Keystone”
Karmatar - really cool ch. g. with chrome - ran in PA in the mid eighties
Indian Sabre - dk bay or brown (colt?gelding?) by Cutlass (ran in 80’s PA)
Singing Gold - ch. gelding no markings (80’s PA)
Caesar’s Nemesis - liver ch. g.(ran off with me so many times in PA)
Library III - unremarkable little bay gelding ( who dumped me with a well-timed dropped shoulder/wheel numerous times until I, being a rookie, realized the grooms were putting me on him to keep the barn in beer - I bought a case every time I fell off!?)
Weather Alert- grey almost white gelding- ran at Finger Lakes in the late 90’s +
Bay Aspin- huge bay gelding - ran in the 80’s
Tight Hold - little grey sweetheart gelding ran in the late 90’s
Valley Mist - dark bay or brown colt - ran in the early 90’s
Star Pass - dark bay or brown gelding by Amber Pass -cribbed a little; very sensible, nice mover
Shingus Sneak - bay gelding that I rode in a couple of hunt meets in the early 80’s Maryland area
Impetious Dan chestnut gelding that I rode & got a fractured skull on at Winterthur in the 80’s
Marching Band - big grey filly that ran in the 90’s at Finger Lakes
Mr Deacon - huge bay gelding
Roman Ice - bay gelding - ran in the 90’s
Brazilian Rich- big bay filly
Academic Priestess - very pretty chestnut filly
Brazilian Taylor- big handsome gelding
Free to Live (Alfie)- huge liver chestnut gelding (first horse I ever galloped - sold off the track in Atlantic City in 1980?
[B]Trisocks[/B - chestnut gelding 90’s
Pure Speculation - light bay gelding with beautiful eyes; PA 80’s
Black Angle big dark (almost black) mare with loppish ears; PA 80’s
Baby Nurse- dark bay mare - very honest and true
Conquer The Game- gorgeous, kind intelligent grey gelding. I LOVED him

Oh I have to stop for a minute or I’ll be here all night…

Mega- I am pretty sure my guy is a 4 yr with the tatoo of G making him a 2003 model. His coggins don’t have any markings on it but there is a tatoo #. I will have to do some more research.

Tex- I remember it being really funny b/c the I would say it was the mid-80’s at Delaware Park and the announcer had a blast calling out his name. I am not sure how it was spelled but it sounded like that. He was a good racehorse.

Greene Monday… My ex father in law had him, ran him at Pimlico in 84 I believe… I do remember he had a bad quarter crack, and he did run at Charles Town… I’ll have to ask a few questions about what ever happened to him!

I remember him as being a very big good looking horse!

Anyone come in contact with these horses?

Modacious - bay gelding last ran at Penn National I believe, was claimed off of us when we ran him at Delaware, good friend bred him, probably still running
Johnato - strapping gray gelding ran at Calder and was claimed from us after one start with us, ended up at Delaware Park (?) then fell off the face of the earth
Society Zone - dk bay filly we ran at Tampa and sold to someone who was running her at Great Lakes Downs
Sekira - chestnut filly, co-owned, sold as a yearling, last ran at Hollywood Park (?) several months ago
Nothinbutagoodtime - bay mare we ran at Mountaineer and gave away as a lesson horse

TBs we own. Would love to know if anyone on here might know them.

Swift Award
Penthouse Doll
Hidden Valentine
Lokoya Red
Beau Rocket (still running - we ran him at Ft Erie, Tampa but would love to know if anyone out there might know some history before we claimed him)

Baffling
Rinky Dink
Amongtheroses
Can’t Buy Class
