Teams for the Paris Olympics

We Canadians will be just fine, as CBC streams ALL of the Olympic competition online for free

For those of you outside Canada, you should be able to stream on CBC as well if you use a VPN so that the site doesn’t realize you’re not in Canada. I remember using a Chrome extension in the past that allows you to choose your “location” so that you can stream - I used it for something in the UK at one time. If I remember what it’s called I will update.

The only (whiny) Problem for me with the streaming, is that I won’t be able to record them, to watch later. I hve always been able to record them before. I have noticed on You Tube, the Olympic videos of I think Toyko are available, just not the xc, but it is the British version. I guess NBC keeps a tight hold on the US versions. I think I will definitely sign up for Peacock if that is the way to go.

3 cheers for CBC

I recall in the last Olympics, they did not have complete full coverage but we were able to watch a good chunk of the eventing.

I can’t remember either, but I thought they had all of it online but only some of it on TV. I do remember going onto the CBC Olympics site and there were a ton of channels streaming various sports at any given time. I think you could view a daily schedule and then click directly onto the livestream link, sort by sport, etc. I recall being impressed by the coverage!

You could watch all the eventing for free on CBC last Olympics and the time before. Public broadcasting for the win (for the other Canadians, note that Pollievre would cut CBC dramatically
)

I Just signed up for Peacock, $5.99 a month. I guess I will have to renew for one month, then cancel after the Olympics. I looked up what they are covering, and I guess it should be no surprise, I do not see the jogs listed in covered events. I wonder how we might view them?

any time now Canada
whoever is selected needs to start planning.

Assuming El Mondo and Bacyrouge are sound at latest vet inspection, my guess is that the only question is who is the third team member, and who is traveling reserve (do we - Canada - even send a travelling reserve?)

I am hoping Hot Bobo is the third team member. They have a decent chance of bringing in a good result, but even if they have a 20 on XC, I don’t think their final score would be much below one of the other options who are more likely to go clear on XC but with considerable time penalties and poorer Dr and SJ results.

I believe Canada will be sending 5 horses to France.

I believe any nation that is sending a team entry gets four stalls - three for the named team members and one for the alternate.

Ireland has a LOT of horses who have no Dam names listed.

Can be really fun to try to figure out who’s what or who might be related to other horses.

Em

They’re pretty much all on horse telex, that’s what people use there to look them up.

In fact no. There are actually many horses registered without know dam lines.

Have a look on the Irish Eventing or Irish Show Jumping sites and their databases.

I can’t count how many horse’s registry passports I have seen with Dam’s listed as “unknown”

But, it does save funds on registering mares.

So this is just a regular competition that anyone can do, but the Olympic team members have to do it, correct?

That would probably have to be a little intimidating for everybody else there. But if you get a good ribbon, that certainly would be something to brag about forever. Lol.

the team members won’t be going for time, so you might actually get a red or blue ribbon!

That would be fun. “I beat the whole US Olympic team!!” Lol.

Does anyone know –

  • Tips? I am not able to scroll down on the page to see the full schedule. I reduced the screen well below 100% hoping to show a side scroll within a box in the page, but no luck.

  • Do we know if we can watch a reply of the entire broadcast later in the day, a full replay of the livestream? For those of us in the U.S. who are cringing at the time difference! But if no replay, I’ll haul myself awake to watch live!

thanks !!!
