The link to the nominated entries didn’t work for me either, so I went to the FEI site and was able to navigate to the pdf document that @Jealoushe tried to share.
See if this link gets you to a page where you can clink on the Eventing link to get the doc:
That is very helpful.
Interesting that we (collectively) have been discussing some possible team members that are not nominated, and have not discussed (at least as far as I recall) one who is (Dana Cooke).
Anyone remember the fiasco about 10 years ago when Canada named Kathryn Robinson to the WEG(?) team then realized that she had not declared / been nominated, etc.
I still remember a rant on social media after the 2016 selections, whining about not getting selected and then disparaging one of the horses who was. Not the rider - her good horse.
That stuck in my mind and has continued to inform my perception of this rider as a poor sport and a poor horseperson.
Further rants on SM by this person have done nothing to dispel this perception.
I too, however, am nobody, less than a smurf, so I know my observations don’t matter.
I have not seen Waylon mention Paris once this year (in the way that many people do in response to “what are your plans for the year?” - something to the effect of “oh, we’d like to get a good result this weekend, and then we’ll see what happens this summer…maybe we’ll end up at a fun show in Europe at the end of July wink wink”). Are we sure he declared? She’s young and promising and only just getting established at the level. If you told me he was saving her for the future and had not made her available this time I wouldn’t be surprised.
According to the information above - regarding countries declared/nominated athletes - Waylon wasn’t on the list for Paris. He has had a slow climb, which in my eyes - he is a horseman before being a team chaser (not being disparaging to any of our nominated Paris riders). He has demonstrated that this mare, OKE Ruby R, is one for the future.
For the first time in a championship cycle (PA, WEGs, Olympics), our HPAG including selectors have specific criteria and data to make the selections. As I said earlier, no one had a stellar year in North America - kind of like “flipping a coin”
I’m happy that we are not at the stage we were years ago - “last man standing”, anyone on the nominated list meets the qualification criteria AND will be there as a team player.
What did she say/do?
Olympics are not 5 star
I figure everyone has seen most of this, but this is todays Eventing Nation. I have seen this photo many times, and just noticed how flat all the green looks. Is that real topiary like or just computer images like in horse racing or football? The article already says there will be 65 competitors. How do they know that? I guess there are no last minute entries? I do not see Australia listed anywhere.

Entries are strictly limited by the FEI so they know how many will be competing. No last minute additions, only substitutions.
It’s colored sand
No I don’t believe it was a plan for him but man, he’s going so well with his mare. I wish he was heading over.
She made some really awful posts on social media in the last few months, basically everyone else sucks, she’s the best, she should be on the team and everyone else should be miles behind her. That’s the gist. Very cocky and condescending and her results don’t back up her delusions.
Oh, that’s too bad. Is she young and not aware of the likely (negative) reaction to that sort of posting, or is she old enough to know better?
I remember one American young lady being a bit of an idiot online but she seems to have grown out of it (from what I’ve seen, I don’t follow closely.)
She was 40 at the time. Another rider tried to talk her “down” but LMF was having none of it. And when Colleen had to pull out, she launched an appeal as to why she should have been chosen for the individual spot. The appeal agreed with the decision of the selectors to send DC, the other reserve.
Oh. Old enough to know better. That’s too bad.
It seems as if the Canadian Olympic Dressage team selection is a mess. Hopefully they’ll work that out soon. There’s not much time left.
Fingers crossed - Tuesday!
Karl competed too at Bouckaert with Hot Bobo.
Intermediate right? I see a trend
