tell me about this stallion in Canada

His name is Yellow Creek and I just bred my mare to him. Does anyone have anything to say, pics, etc of offsping? Thanks

just adding to clear up confusion…I did research him and saw babies and pics, etc…from the breeder. I know 1 person who told me he makes great kids but, I just wondered what people had out there and especially hunters…

Thanks I got that myself…just looking for people who actually HAVE his babies and their experiences, etc…

You might try asking on the EMG forums. Most of the Ontario Hunter/Jumper breeders hang out there. Just be careful what forum you put it in.

Just curious-- wouldn’t you want to see progeny before you breed?

What type of mare did you breed to him and what are your plans for the foal?

A friend of mine started a Yellow Creek filly last fall. She said the filly was smart, athlectic and learned well. She really liked her.

thanks

I bred him to an appy sport horse/part tb from Waps…JG. I want a hunter baby and she is quite cute herself and athletic.

good to hear info…I did look into it but, could not come up with much other them from the breeder who was VERY nice.

I saw many pics and some in person from the breeder…I am just curious what others have

I know the owners of Savannah Creek-they love her. She’s a nice mare-they’ve had her out at a few shows this year. Lots of photos on their web site http://www.parklaneranch.ca/

His owner is terrific - I dont think you could ask for a nicer person to deal with

If you were looking for an event baby or perhaps a jumper - I’d say excellent choice. Hunter - not so much. He has never struck me as the ultimate hunter stallion and to be honest, I dont think we even see many hunter babies by him around here at all … and people looking for a hunter type stallion dont usually gravitate to him at all …

It will be interesting to see how your youngster develops. Perhaps this will be another good “niche” for him

And for what its worth - I have never heard a bad thing about any of his youngsters either. By all accounts, they are very “user friendly” …

I’m Galileo’s friend who started the Yellow Creek Filly last winter. She is a really neat horse, smart, athletic and the interesting thing is that she could probably do equally well as a hunter. Unfortunately she came out a bit small and is only 15.2 which is not a particularly desireable height for a hunter so she is destined to be an eventer. Her grandmother won gold at the 1978 World Champs in Lexington and her mother was an Intermediate mare.

Well, his kids are nicely put together and my mare is a hunter (comes from hunter lines) whose sire is 1/2 TB so, either way I’m sure I’ll get something user friendly as you say…at least lets hope and first I just want a healthy baby. I don’t think you can really bank on anything for sure when it comes to breeding. Someone I know who breeds big time tends to breed for jumpers and I don’t think she has gotten one yet! all awesome hunters…but by and out of jumper breeding Go figure!!!

I’m sorry, the 10 year old kid is coming out in me…I just can’t get past the name. :uhoh::no::lol:

My cousin bred her mare to Yellow Creek a few years back. Got a filly, she was really cute and such a sweetie. Very easy to train and had a good jump on her.

Yellow Creek is a nice looking guy, all the best with your cross!! = )

A trainer I know bred to YC. Here is the link to her filly http://www.ponycraft.ca/Prospects.htm

I know she still has her and is working with her. The dam was QH.

As I was reading your post, it made me wonder what Thoroughbred stallions are sought out by hunter breeders in your neck of the woods. There are really so few Thoroughbred hunter stallions that I often wonder about crossing the border for some different stock. I have a couple of Quarter Horse mares that I cross to Thoroughbreds. Your thoughts are appreciated and support material (links to Web sites of any stallions you mention) will be received gratefully.

I know of a pretty good hunter sire standing at Flying One Ranch in SK, Canada. His name is Ruckus Time, and he is TB. His kids are quite wide spread on the East Coast of the US, and especially NC. However, there are a number up here competing as well…

No website, but PM me if you want contact info…

Is Musing still alive does anyone know? He was a fabulous and flashy TB stallion that did really well in the hunters himself. He was on the West Coast

Guaranteed Gold - cremello TB stallion - www.TrueColoursFarm.com - some fabulous HB offspring and his oldest youngsters are hitting the show ring now

Yavari had some fabulous jumper foals and I believe he also had some terrific hunter babies as well. He is dead but I know they have frozen available for him still

There is a really nice TB stallion named Rather Well that is competing in advanced level eventing. I owned his dam once upon a time and I really really like him a lot. He is by Raj Kapoor who was a stunning hunter type mover and jumper and I really think RW could sire some very nice hunters as well

Not keen on him myself.
