tell me about this stallion in Canada

I responded to an ad for a black TB stallion for sale. I will post the email here. The pictures that came through were the same ones that they have Yellow Creek advertised in. Even the same year and photographer which brought me to question the “seller” on the age he said his stud was.

Something very fishy here…

Hello Sue,
Thanks very much for coming, before i proceed, let me tell you about this horse, his name is jack. Jack has tons of personality and loves to please. He has been trained on-and-off as a hunter/jumper and would do great with some consistent work. He is good on the trails. He has no health issues and is sound. He is great with the furrier, has good ground manners, and gets along well with other horses. Jack is a 17.2hh, 9 year old; He is an incredible horse that should be competing at the highest levels of either hunters or jumpers. He has the ability to jump over 5 feet, and loves it. He has perfect form and tries his hardest every time to not touch the jump. He has great rhythm, and has an incredibly scopy jump. He absolutely loves to jump and is very easy to jump. He has a nice smooth arc to his jump, and does not rush. He keeps a nice steady pace to every jump and can jump from any distance. He has shown in hunters and jumpers, and done well in both. He has show experience and takes his job very seriously. He is very fast, can turn on a dime, and can jump from any distance, which is great for jumpers. If you are looking for a horse to just get on and go to the top levels, this is your guy. He is not only is a textbook jumper, he has a great mind and truly enjoys being around people. He can stand in a field for a week and when you decide to ride him, again he is a perfect guy. He is a steal for a horse with this much ability and love for the sport. Low level hunter schooling show. Please on my ad, it show i am located in Victoria Texas, that was where i was two months ago fore coming here… I was base in Victoria but I am now in Shajah U.A.E and the reasons i selling jack and at a very low price is because of the distance and the nature of the climate here. I just want a favorable home for home back in the state. Below are his pictures. If you need any information about Jack that you have not seen in the ad or above, please let me know.
Thanks

This is not true and fraud…it’s come up before. A good friend knows the owner of him well…

Some of the YC babies look very cute.

Not to hihack, but TC do you have any photos yet of the GG offspring that are showing? I know you’ve said it before, but how long has he been standing? How old are his oldest now?

His oldest are 6 this year and he has several showing in breed shows (half arabian) in English Pleasure and dressage

CCF Porshah is shown here being ridden:

and shown with her video clip at:

Bazza is shown here at his first event and I believe is at Training Level now as a 5 year old:

Mocha is a 5 year old appendix gelding shown here at the “A” level hunters:

With some pictures of him being ridden and jumped here:

Florentine Gold is another one (3 this year) who has been started under saddle and is showing in the hack divisions in the Eastern Ontario area and will be headed towards the Royal Winter Fair in November if she qualifies for both of the Cup classes. Here are a few shots of her being ridden as well in the spring of her 3 year old year:

So - they are getting there, slow but sure. As their owners are getting them started under saddle and showing, they have been terrific about updating me with video’s and pictures of their progress

Thanks for asking …

Any jumpers in the bunch?

What did GG do in the show ring?

Any jumpers in the bunch?

No - not yet. Those are still upcoming. A client bred a Swiss WB mare to him that was imported from Europe and showed in the Open division over there and that youngster is slated for the jumper ring, but its a 2009 foal so we have a bit of a wait yet …

To be truly honest? I think he would be capable of producing some nice jumpers, but if someone was looking for a VERY NICE jumper, there are far more credible bloodlines in stallions with far better and more specialized jumper bloodlines than GG possesses … We dont and have never promoted him as a jumper or as a dressage stallion either …

What did GG do in the show ring?

Training Level eventing. His owners at the time opted to stop showing him once he achieved the performance results necessary to reach the Bronze Premium status with the CSHA. That was in 2002. I didnt get involved with him on a lease basis until 2005 and I didnt buy him until 2008, so 2008 was really the first opportunity I have had to actually 100% call all of the shots on him …

The Arab crosses look like Breyer horses!

There is a video link to one called Faux Finish–very pretty; where is that one now?

The Arab crosses are amazing!!! They are among my very favorite crosses …

Thanks. I adore that mare!

Right now she is sitting in my trainer’s field in PA, just passed her 60 day check in foal to Redwine, and she is due in April 2010. She is going to the Oldenburg inspection in August and then the AHS one in September and doing the MPT there as well and will then come home to me after that, or stay with Jill until she foals out, gets rebred once again and then comes home after that. This damned CEM situation is a PITA, with many Stallion Owners not being set up to get the proper documents done prior to shipping semen to Canada, so I am hoping by 2010 and after, the situation would have resolved itself and/or relaxed a bit, so shipping to Canada wont be as painful as it is currently. So hence my decision to probably leave her there until mid 2010 before she comes home

Her full sister - TCF Nightlight - is with Jill as well (she’s a yearling this year) and Jill’s plans for her are to show her on the line, and then compete her in the hunters after that and her full brother Remember My Name will also hopefully hit the hunter ring as well if he doesnt end up shipping home to Scotland anytime soon …

I see that she showed in hand…did she ever show under saddle, or had you just planned to breed her all along?

Yellow Creek resides down the street from me (literally he is only a 3 minute drive). I LOVE this stallion! He is drop dead gorgeous and a gentleman to boot. Terribly underutilized as a breeding stallion as far as I am concerned but that is ultimately the owners decision. I have backed and ridden a filly of his, now rising 5, out of a full Egyptian mare that is to die for. Beautiful classy lady with a great work attitude (and black of course…bonus!)

Yellow Creeks get have done extremely well in conformation line competition here very often placing in the top 5 in the Governor and Lt. Governor Cup classes at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.

His get are substantial in size, often improving on the mares size and he throws that lovely, lovely TB head with the kindest eye. Except for the post I just read above I have heard absolutely NOTHING negative of any of his foals so this one is the exception.

Although promoted primarily for the eventer discipline my friends filly is most definetly destined for a career in the dressage ring. Many of YC’s babies display quite nice form over fences. I find it hard to believe he could not be utilized as a hunter stallion as well

I see that she showed in hand…did she ever show under saddle, or had you just planned to breed her all along?

I think I remember all of this correctly …

She won 2 out of 3 classes at her first show under saddle and was Reserve Champion

In her shows over fences (and there were 2 or maybe 3 of them) she won some classes, was 2nd and 4th in the others. And usually won her hack and I think got a few Reserve Champions at those shows

I was always waffling between keeping her to show and selling her and doing some ET breedings while she continued to show. Then reality (and finances! ) got in the way of those plans. I have always loved Redwine and thought if I didnt pursue a show career with her past a certain point, I’d love a Redwine foal out of her. The timing fell into place, the decision was made, and lo and behold she caught off the first insemination and we are going forward with plans to breed her and get her approved in some of the WB registries

Will she head back to the show ring at some point? I honestly dont know, or I may simply opt to put my time and money and resources into promoting and showing each successive foal crop instead. I guess once she foals out, that will tell me a lot of what I need to know about what I can expect from her with each foal and if I am better off (financially and from an overall business plan perspective) to continue to breed her, or see if I can swing getting her back into the ring instead

I absolutely covet a stunning dilute colt out of her by Redwine  If that happens, that will be my next stallion prospect to possibly bring along and then a lion’s share of the available resources would go in that direction for the forseeable future

But then of course if my numbers come up in the next Super 7 lottery, ANYTHING is possible!

Thanks for your patience during this interruption…now back to your regularly scheduled programming, “Yellow Creek, stallion in Canada…”

I also responded to that ad. I asked for clarification on “Jack’s” age, saying that I thought Yellow Creek was 18 (or 20 or whatever he is.)

I never got a reply. I can’t imagine why…:rolleyes::lol:

Thanks for the info…yes it seems like everyone is happy with his kids! I’m not sure my mare got prego after 3 insemination’s. She is hard and maiden and the weather has been crappy. Her follicle kept growing and became huge instead of ovulating despite getting the hcg shot…so, we did her one more time and I’m not sure if the vet checked her yet to see if she ovulated. That egg icould be one of the things that is not breedable called a presistant follicle…it’s a crap shoot…so if that is the case I won’t try again because she is hard also having silent heats. I’ll find another mare next season I suppose…

Good luck with your breeding SSFL, fingers crossed for you.
Add me to the list of people who think Yellow Creek is a lovely horse. I saw him a few years ago at the Royal Winter Fair when he was showing in the same stallion classes (TB and Sport Horse) as AFR. He is a big handsome horse, and seemed very kind and quiet.
I like his pedigree too, and am particularly fond of Irish Tower and Irish Castle,(Bold Ruler) his sire and gs.

another mare perhaps, pedigree peeps what do you think?

Ok so my mare is still not cooperating however what does anyone think of this mares pedigree to put with Yellow Creek

http://www.pedigreequery.com/mountain+hideaway

Thanks FRED!!

I think Yellow Creek is greatly under used as a hunter stallion. He has impeccable form over fences, and while some of his photos don’t make it as clear as it could be, he has impeccable conformation.

In regards to other TB hunter stallions in this area, there’s always our son of Absolut’, Harvest Moon.

Similar story.
I stumbled on a sales ad using YC’s photos last winter. I forwarded a link to the ad to Yellow Creek’s owner and she was certainly grateful, stating that it was not the first time something like this had happened. In the past she had contacted the sales website and the ad had been removed. She said she would repeat the process.
Lucky for me, none of my horses seem to jump well enough to warrant this type of attention!

I’m pretty sure the ad is still up. Let me see if I can find it.

Edit: Nope, it’s been removed. I know it was up for a while after I inquired about the horse using his real name.

When I spoke to Sandy (YC’s owner) 2-3 weeks ago to tell her the ad was up, she sighed and said she had been notified many many times in the past as well about the same thing so I guess this has been going on for years

Truly bizarre. I hope no one actually fell for the ad and parted with their money!
