Tennessee Walking Horse Soring Issue *Update post 1*

Yes, I agree it is important for everyone to speak on this matter. Specially when those in the wrong so enjoy what they have that they resist change, even when they know changing is morally the right thing to do. It is hard for them to accept that their life’s efforts on this breed has been so reprehensibly wrong. But it is time they heard. And it will take more than one voice - and more than one effort cause they have deep pockets, a HPA that says what they do is legal and politicians.

Yes, they take up arms and band together and plot and such in dark private gatherings cause if changing the law is successful - well they are finished - caput.

Yes, they twist the arguments, play the personal attack and worse. Though some do not believe it, YES the threats and real personal violence really did happen to those who opposed what they did.

Yes, turning away from the harassment and threat of violence is the easier thing to do.

But right is not always easy.

This group that you and I oppose is most definitely one of the most shunned groups of horsemen in the world. Right up there with the folks that beat horses to make them dance or enjoy tripping them for sport. Problem is “the world” does not live next to this as you do. The world can still look the other way. And the beatings and trippings go on in grand public events. Until people like you are willing to call others to right the wrong.

I am sure there were those in the room who who think they have some big pants and history will regard them well. But history already knows you are the man and the family whose daughter and horse made that ride. You and your honest attendance at these events continues to mean a lot. You stood up when others did not. And keeping this in the spotlight will spare countless other simple folks from being drawn into the distorted belief that this does not harm the horse, that these are soft pads and a harmless bracelet or a natural way for the horse to move.

Don’t let a few epithelial cells get in your way.

You being you is a good thing.

Preacher,
I’ll say it again. Whatever anyone says about you, one fact cannot be changed, you and your family stood alone at the Celebration with a SOUND horse!!! Add the personal attacks the Jackson family has endured, adds up to very thick skin!!! We will not tire, we will prevail! Knock us down, we’ll come up swinging every time. Reminds me of what Ali said, “The fight belonged to the one who wanted it the worst, and I always wanted it worst!”

if you count the number of people in that room, than count the ones that are against soring the latter are greater, this is why those people are still hiding in the dark room of the twhnc.

the world that has been the Big Lick is whorling out of control,David Howard is losing his grip on the TWH industry and he knows it.his KINGDOM is falling.

as David smote the Philistine, so can we smote the abuse of the TWH. and those that do it. if we stay the coarse keep talking, keep this subject in front of the people.

at a meeting last nite (this is an election year) many meetings and gatherings i always find time and the energy to tell folks of this cause.and the HR6388, people do not like ABUSE wether it is on children or animals.

JUST KEEP TALKING,(like Doren says just keep swimming.)every chance you get.

may have been said before

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)

Go Preacher. Shame on the others.

There were many sound horses at the Celebration…you just want to zero in the fact that there were some out out of line

I was speaking of the 1999 Celebration Cordial.

Hey aarpaso…all I said was not all of the horses were sore at the Celebration. I don’t sore, I don’t believe in soring, and I highly resent you saying I back some low lifes. I am against soring just as much as you, so be care of what names you call people. You people on this trainwreck of a thread, paint everybody with the same brush all of the time…what you don’t know is almost all of the people I know in the our circle of TWH’s (yes, even people who have Padded horses), are against soring. But you only talk about the bad apples in the barrel. There are many people who are working hard to get this industry back to where it should be. But you wouldn’t know anything about that would you?

if what you say is tru why hasn’t your group STOPPED,the abuse, why haven’t you and your friends put pressure on TWHBEA to end this practice.you ve had 30 + yrs. if you would stop showing stacked and padded horses than the soring would have NO PLACE to SHOW or any reason to SORE.

go flat and take away the need to SORE if you really care thats what you and your GROUP would do.

i know about what others are doing.and its not STOPPING THE REASON TO SORE.period.its how can we hide this for another 30 yrs if not than why was Mr.Jackson asked to leave a meeting.because they don’t want to world to know the TRUTH.

check the numbers for this THREAD,trainwreck really!

…“you people”

???

So not PC.

I do agree the stacks, chains and weighted shoe need to go. SPecially the stacks and chains. Cause there are only 2 ways to get that crawl. Sore 'em or stack em.

I totally get it and see their elimination from the show ring as the only way to end the soring. Cause there are only 2 ways to get that crawl. Sore 'em or stack em.

Bye Bye stacks and chains. Cause there are only 2 ways to get that crawl. Sore 'em or stack em.

TWH had plenty of time to regulate themselves - and they proved it could not be done. Cause there are only 2 ways to get that crawl. Sore 'em or stack em.

Mornin;

This you gotta watch, this is the TN congressman who supports killing H.R. 6388 and keeping the pads and chains

The Preacher

why would he care about the TWH,when he didn’t care about his own seed.

he’s one of the lowest.

Seriously, did this guy get elected after this damning story broke? I don’t even care about the affair or the abortion. It’s his slimy behavior surrounding the whole thing.

It makes sense that he’s BL supporter.

To Aarpaso:
For your information the circle of Twhs’ I mostly deal with are doing what we can. We are from the North, so it is hard to influence the people from the deep south. We tend to show up North and
don’t see the problems that you speak of.
Also you said "go Flat:…well for your information we have two flat shod horses, and I might add…damn good ones. Yes, we have a padded horse who will be 23 in January, and is still in the show ring. So, because we have a padded horse is the reason to come on here and be-little me, for our choice of breed. It gets very “old”. A lot of the posters have some correct information on all that is going on, but there is alot of you that don’t have a clue…You just think you know! There alot of GOOD trainers that are trying to get things cleaned up, but it is an up-hill fight. There are alot of Good people that own and show Walking horses, but they still get painted with the same ole brush. Very tiring!

and just what is WHAT WE CAN,have you signed the HR6388 OH let me answer that, NO because than that 23 yr old TWH could not do the CRAWL. which TWH don’t do naturally, you have to sore or stack or both. You are saying that the BIG LICK is only a thing of the south, REALLY.

Now if you really don’t like the words and statements here ,why do you read it? Why do you POST here?

there are alot of good people that own and show TWH in the NWHA,FOSH are you a member.

I never said that the Big Lick is ONLY in the South…quit putting words in my mouth, But since we now show mostly in the North, Padded horses are far and few between. Out 23 year old can do the crawl without the chains, but I expect you couldn’t possible believe that.
No I don’t belong to Fosh or the NWHA…no problem with them, just show in a different HIO.
So you are saying that If I don’t like the information on this thread, that I don’t have the right to come on here and disagree with some of you, and perhaps shed some information that might be different then yours??? REALLY, and who do you think you are to say something like that to me or anybody else that wants to show another side of the problem. There are plenty of people that don’t agree with all the opinions that expressed here on this forum, but refuse to post anymore because of the nasty posts that they get in return. Good day!

you did not answer the question what have you or your group done to stop SORING. note deep south so i’m not incorrect, you show in the north. i merely asked if you don’t like this thread why do you post here. it was a QUESTION you did not answer anything that was asked.

So who, and where, are these good trainers who are trying to clean things up Cordial? Must be up north.

We have had many discussions with trainers, and owners, and actively discuss it in our Walking horse club what we want the future to be with the walkinghorse industry.
No I have not signed the so-called amenment. I come on the this thread, because first and formost I have a right to my opinion. and secondly, I feel like a alot of the information on this thread is half-truths.
Now have I answered your damn questions? Now I have a few of my own…do you live in the South, do you have walking horses, trail type or show, how long have you been, if in fact
you are, involved with TWH’s

HR 6388 now has 43 co-sponsors ! WooHoo  That is pretty encouraging. Hopefully the good folks who recognize abuse when they see it will outnumber the DesJarlaises in this country.
