Terranova-Lauren Nicholson what happened?

Agreed. From the information provided I assumed people were talking about Jessica Pheonix, given she had multiple horses at TN.

But Jess competes for Canada, so no.

(And I apologise for assuming it was her)

Ok. I have no idea who.

I’m
Sure that was exactly the intent and the usage.

What this thread has now devolved into (speculation about what happened naming names of people who may or may not even be involved) is exactly the problem with these sort of vague social media posts. They literally invite speculation and gossip. How is that solving any real problem?

Thanks for saying it. So annoying asking if I can buy a vowel. How is that helpful?

I can put the clues together because I know enough about the sport and individuals at the top. The people who don’t know can’t. And arguably those are the people who need to know.

So many people have spoken up. They get told “come back with irrefutable proof” or just brushed aside as “you don’t know what you saw”.

And given the official response to multiple videos of people doing abusive things, which should be considered “irrefutable proof”, even that doesn’t seem to guarantee action.

But I return to my original point. As someone who is hundreds of miles removed from these events and does not run in these circles, I have no context for who has A Reputation. So whether LN was referring to CP or JP or PD, I am none the wiser. I’m not privy to the whisper network. So I feel like I have to view everyone with a tinge of suspicion since our governing bodies seem content to let bad behavior go unsanctioned unless they’re forced to take action by public outcry.

I so agree!

It’s ok, I don’t feel singled out. and I agree with you that USEA and USEF are also implicated.

I was not at TerraNova. What I see in Lauren’s posts (which are 100% still posted on both FB and IG) is frustration over the way things are NOT being handled by those in charge, where riders of import and status and power get away with poor behavior. There are lots of ways to be bad and the open secret just exists. Volunteer at shows, get to know the players, see what’s in front of you. Watch warm ups. Walk the grounds and the barns. Be present, report what’s seen with as much data and facts as you can and do what you can to hold the the powers that be accountable.

Lauren and Rick Wallace (who is on the rider’s committee with her (if memory serves) and commented on her post) are muzzled on social media. They say what they can as they can. Rick’s no angel, for sure, and I don’t think angelic is the bar. anyone should be free to speak truth to power, period. And they aren’t free, and that’s not a good thing.

Did anyone see Rick Wallace’s FB post. Seems like that may have something to do with LN? Simply speculation but it seems either related.

It seems a little contradictory, he’s presenting an example where TDs have on multiple occasions talked to the rider regarding his rounds and saying they shouldn’t speak out? Or their tone or words weren’t warranted. Yet we have Lauren saying they should.

I lean towards Lauren, the TD’s need the support of us riders. They shouldn’t be put down or silenced when they are trying to do their job and keep the sport safe. That’s from someone who’s been talked to once. (I was going to slow) I was so embarrassed, likely cried afterwards in my car, but it was warranted . We discussed what happened in a stern way, but then afterwards as a rider I’m going to the drawing board so it doesn’t happen again. That’s what should happen.

Agreed, just wondering if they’re talking about the same incident. He was saying that being told that a forward ride was inappropriate.

My understanding is that these are two different situations

But I could see where if you don’t believe your discussions are warranted, but another party, especially one that may be “in the big leagues” isn’t being spoken to at all it would be deemed even more unfair.

I think they must be two separate instances-I am thinking someone made comments about Corture seeming dangerous flying around at the speed she does over those big fences. Then Rick’s reply to Lauren’s post was supportive of what she said but his agreement derives from a different experience, not Lauren’s.

Yes from what I’ve heard Caroline Pamukcu is well known from problematic horse welfare and other issues and is most likely the person Lauren is referencing here

USEF did not have jurisdiction over Andrew McConnon because the reported misconduct did not occur at a competition. That’s been stated repeatedly on the threads discussing him. USEF has since changed that rule.

Well while we’re on the topic- and he was mentioned already up thread…
More vagueness

Here is a response to this post in a fb group, a reminder that there are always multiple viewpoints to consider. Maybe it’s not always the officials?

Does anyone know why Caroline received a TE at TerraNova on HSH Double Sixteen? This was in the 4*. I saw the round on the livestream and didn’t see any obvious issues. The commentators were confused when they saw the TE pop up in the scoring. They said they’d try to find out what happened but it was never brought up again on the livestream.
