The Big C! RIP Kim, see pg. 218

Well I used to Skydive, my Ex was a long time Skydiver, we gave that up. So been there done that! LOL
I wish that food was as important to me as it used to be, but with this condition, I am super careful what and how much I eat. Funny the things I used to love, are not that great anymore.
And I hesitate to drink much wine because of the cancer being in my liver now.

WOW, that must be amazing
not that I think I would ever throw myself out of a plane, but I can for sure understand why people do.

Still keeping you in my thoughts

I’m so glad that the Pony Club was happy with your thoughtful gifts.

Thinking of you and hoping your visit with the doctor goes well. Well, as well as those things can go, they’re never fun.

Keep on keepin’ on.

hope you had a good visit. Thinking of you!!

Jingling from the North here
hoping that all is OK today.

Well okay, thanks for all the well wishes, I think Zu Zu’s AO,S may work.
Nice Doc, a woman, very down to earth. Said she has seen metastatic Colo rectal cancer shrink drastically with this Chemo she is proposing. She said without it, 6 months, with the protocol 1 to 5 years.
Several small tumors in my liver, she stressed small. The big thing is the one in my ass. that is the problem, that will make things really bad if they do not shrink it. so 12 treatments, one every two weeks. have to have a port put in. BLAH she said it is the way they do all chemo now. Side effects, ehh. She said this is nothing like the stuff for Lung cancer or Leukemia, mostly tired, some tingling sensation and sensitivity to cold in fingers. Numbness, she said some have very little side effects. OF course they have to list everything. possible kidney damage, yada yada yada.
I said what if after a month I decide it is too much, she said it is your body you can stop it at anytime.
Well Okay, so I guess even if I have only 6 months, without shrinking the big one, life will be very bad.
Soo, waiting for scheduling the port implant. Nurses are so sweet. I am so glad they sent me to this cancer center in the hospital I know near me. nurses said it is like a family, they were familiar with the Big one in Grand Rapids, and said it is kind of a cold factory feel to it. they see hundreds of patients. Doc said we use the same drugs.
So I guess you are not rid of me yet. Ex was over the moon. He said He was afraid I was going to come in and tell him I had 6 weeks. LOL Guess I can plant my tomatoes!:wink:

Go for it! If the side effects are intolerable you can stop at any time. The drugs certainly are better than they used to be and people really do react differently to them. I’m so glad you are giving it a try.

Hang in there! Go plant those tomatoes and give that Pony Club talk!

This is good news.
Are you going on FOLFOX? or Folfiri? DH’s experience was that he went in for a few hours for the transfusion, then went home for 46 hours with a pump.

The port is a relatively minor pain. It will look weird to you, but it’s a relatively small incision that tends to heal well.

If you aren’t obsessive/compulsive, drag out that tendency now and practice. If anyone wants to access your port for bloodwork or anything, make sure they do the full protocol. My DH decided he didn’t want the hassle, and after a while had bloodwork done through his arm so people didn’t have to access the port.

All the best

Kim, I have had more than one friend that had a port. It’s a small surgical procedure. One was for dialysis, which is a more complicated procedure than you will have.

A chemo port is pretty straightforward. Of course medical procedures are no fun, but don’t dread the port procedure, you’ll sail through it.

Well, I am very happy for you. It sounds like you got a good straightforward not messing around doc. The port is a minor annoyance but you will be glad they put it in. You can get your chemo done thru it, blood draws and pain meds.
When are they going to start chemo? Go plant tomatoes!!! yay
