Since it has metastised to my liver and several lymph nodes surgery was taken off the table, Chemo only.
And then, well who knows.
And I did!!! Told him he was his own house keeper shopper laundry doer. etc. I like to mow, lawn tractor, and no biggie. Everything else was already planted my moi years ago in the beds.
He asked for a job today, I said there are several ant mounds in the lawn, and they need this stuff sprinkled over them and then water it in. The yard is large and there were several and a bit of walking, but geez, all I heard was , I am so tired, wow I really need to walk more. SheeshâŠ
Kim - Iâve read the whole thread (yes, all 36 pages!). Youâre doing fine. You have to treat yourself first - your ex (who was an ex for a reason) can take care of himself. Donât be afraid to reach out to local resources. If you need a ride, call the local cancer support group and let them help. Youâre experiencing pain (doctors like to call it âdiscomfortâ, as if that makes it hurt less), so make sure you discuss it with your oncology nurse. They canât help you if you try to tough it out and donât let them know thereâs an issue. Do you have a social worker helping you to get on Medicaid? Take that worry out of the equation if you can.
My family is riddled with cancer (my mother was one of 11 - of the 11, 6 have had cancer. My sister had breast and thyroid cancer in the same year. Brother had kidney cancer, etc.). For my sister, the port was a big convenience both for the PT and the medical staff. There is a lot of support available for cancer patients. Take advantage of it. My sister had care packages with skin products, because her chemo was very hard on her skin - it made it dry and prone to sunburn.
My sister doesnât call herself a âcancer survivorâ. She says sheâs a cellular over-achiever.
ETA: How is Sannois pronounced? San-wa? Like a French pronunciation?

Hey, Kim! I just came back to this thread, always the optimist that things are great and youâre improved, etc. So sorry to hear that youâre having a rough go of it Iâm so glad other COTHers are sending you care packages and such (Iâve neglected those duties for a whileâŠmy own life upheaval and caregiving situation going on here). Hugs to you <3
Shoot. I was going to offer to give you a hand if you were close to me. Wish I could be of more assistance than to offer Jingles.
I really canât believe the insensitivity. Snarky me would be so tempted to retort with something like, âoh, well, you know, Stage IV cancer has me just brimming with energy. Want me to wash your car? Clean out the attic? Scrub the baseboards? No, I mean REALLYââŠ
Yup! that is him!!! Someone else said it above, a classic Narcissist.
And I did nothing but take care of him for over 25 years.
I am so greatful for you and all of the others support. People have their own crisis and challenges. (((Hugs back)))
Yes it is French, he was named by the Breeder after a small French city, where him and his wife honeymooned!
People I bought him from called him sanoy??!!:lol:
And thanks for all the info. I am going to talk to my nurse Rachelle tomorrow. she is a saint.
Gosh, for some reason I thought you were farther east. I am only 2000 miles away. But that is nothing in cyber distance;)
Susan
Youâve got friends âŠ
Kim - That actually makes sense. I donât know French, but think of Livernois in Detroit.
Iâm glad you like your nurse. I suffer from a horrible fear of medical people and procedures.

Yes I sure do. And ones that send me coffee on a regular basis.
The coffee elf snuck this box in when I was mowing the back yard.!
Seriously so very sweet of you. I still have not mastered how to make it so it is just right, it is super high octane!
It bothers me that they are not offering surgery, which I believe I read somewhere in this thread. If that sucker continues to grow, what will they do if you get completely blocked?
As I found with DHâs breast cancer, the critical thing is an oncologist who has a plan youâre comfortable with. They may well do surgery in the future after shrinking the tumor(s)with chemo. They could put in a stent or do a bag. But the doc should have a plan for how they see things going and at which point theyâd consider various options.
That plan should be written and very clear so the patient can refer to it, and someone (usually nurses) available to go over it for times when the patient forgets
It may vary by provider but again, I found with pain management, the palliative care folks were a billion times better than the onc. And the onc didnât actually refer DH, a radiation oncology nurse did. If I had known about them, I would have asked for a referral a lot earlier
Also, just another option, Dana Farber does second opinions from a distance (online) Theyâll get your docs notes and images and all that and go over them (http://www.dana-farber.org/appointments-and-second-opinions/online-second-opinion-program/) without someone having to go to Boston. As I mentioned in my (endless) thread, I fell in love with our DF doc(not romantically but honeslty, I love that man so much. just amazing) Just an option anyway.
and now for an advertisement âŠ

roses love coffee grinds âŠ
but not for TOMATOES !!!
TOMATOES DO NOT LIKE COFFEE GRINDS !
Super octane coffee? Try using two filters (if you have a drip coffee maker, like the ones that use the Mr Coffee style basket filters).
Tomatoes do love horse manure!
Yo if someone has an address for Sanny Iâd like to send her a little something. If thatâs kosher please pm me.
