The Daily Dumb

They are amazingly adorable. I had some lots of years back.

@DBYC,

I just looked up the Liege Fighters on the Greenfire website, and their price is $99 for a single unsexed chick. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Same price on the Svart Honas, except that they’re sold out.

Speaking of birds -

What kind of animal (I guess might not be a bird) would make a loud screeching sound ALL THE TIME during the day? Someone near the barn has one, and it is the most annoying sound on earth.

Like the moron in this clip making raptor sounds, but all.damn.day… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U362EJ5dvL0

It could be Guinea Hens. My brother had some, and he called them Screaming Chickens.

Peacocks also make a lot of noise.

They do, but it’s not a similar sound at all. @Nova2000 I am going to look up guinea hens now. I’m glad I’m not this person’s neighbor, but it’s so aggravating to listen to while riding outside.

@Nova2000 nope, not that. It’s like a second long each call. I think I’m going to have to go on a wee exploration to visually see what’s making the sound - if not for anything else, to know what to never ever buy for my future farmette lol

Would not be doves?
They are calling all day long here right now, sound gets in every place:

Oh lord no. WAY louder and WAY more irritating. Imagine a velociraptor, and for a full second each time. RAHH! RAHH! Like a screech. I swear it sounds like a parrot, but it started so early this spring I can’t imagine someone leaving their parrot outside in the cold.

Peacocks. I live next door to a dozen of them. They sound like cats that are being strangled. Even with a ten acre buffer between us, they are still loud enough to wake me up out of a sound sleep.

I have been around peacocks, and this sound really doesn’t emulate them. Maybe a different breed, or one with a throat issue? lol

This video is not what it sounds like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qY8-HooF9I

It sounds more “raw” and gritty. Tone a little lower. Not a sound I’m familiar with, that’s for sure. Mystery animal, who should not be anywhere near homes…

I have to trespass a little to get a look at the property the sound is coming from, but at this point I think it’s worth it.

I eagerly await the reconnaissance reprot.

I’ve gotten as close as I can without trespassing (the back of this property touches corners with the farm property), and it totally looks like where a horror film would take place. Dilapidated RVs and motor homes strewn on the back half, grass really high all over, old cars…

Pray for me. I’ll figure it out this weekend. lol

Maybe ostrich or emu? Just throwing out random birds.

I’m very curious.

I googled those sounds about a week ago, and I don’t think so. While I’m risking getting shot, I’ll try to video the sound and post it here for you all. It is SO ANNOYING because this thing NEVER shuts up. EVER.

Maybe a cassowary. In which case, I will be eviscerated or something.

Well don’t get eviscerated! You got some tactical binoculars? I feel like you need gear for this expedition!

No but I have a fresh lint roller to get the ticks off me when I’m done. #prepared

Yup. They ain’t cheep cheep ! I had a coupon. And they do throw in ample extras.

When Greenfire first made the Ayam Cemani available, a juvenile breeding pair was $2k + shipping.

@endlessclimb could it be guinea fowl? They are obnoxious sounding!
