My friend - her work is allowing + but asymptomatic people to return to work, if they’re masked.
She works in a hospital.
That, to me, is insanity.

Agree!
CDC says those who test +
but are now asymptomatic can mask & be in public after 10 days.
Neither 2 or 3 have been without symptoms for a full week.
2 can mark 10 days today, but had respiratory symptoms within that period.
3 still had symptoms yesterday.
What I don’t understand is the refusal to allow at least the minimum # of days before possibly infecting others.
That’s because those people are NOT thinking of others - they’re only thinking of themselves. They don’t want to limit themselves from things THEY want to do.
Just got back from running groceries to #3… Whose symptoms returned with a vengeance today.
So, she is not going back to work.
#2 left me a VM saying she went back to work… Driving the bus full of kids
I need to cool down & consider what I might have to say to her.
ETA:
Left 2 a VM saying while I’m glad she feels good enough to return to work, doing so was not the best idea for her or the kids.
Doubt it will change anything, but I feel better
THIS ^ selfish asshats !
not enough words to describe their selfishness and disrespect for people around them !
I simply would be unable to be friends with this ‘dangerous’ group !
Please be careful 2DogsFarm !
See my update above - post# 823 - I’m being as cautious as I can & will avoid these “friends” for at least another week.
That’s healthcare for profit for you. A friend is an ICU/ER nurse at one of the Level 1 Trauma Centers in our state. At the height of the initial Covid crisis in March-May 2020, they: 1) Ran out of PPE & were rationing masks to one per person per week. She & most of her colleagues kept garbage bags stashed in their vehicles to serve as gowns in a pinch. I FedExed her the disposable gloves my hairstylist had given me with my color touch up kit. 2) Ran out of Fentanyl, blood products, and hand sanitizer. And this is one of three hospitals that every other facility in the state sends their absolute sickest/most injured. 3) Ran out of staffed beds. Quietly stopped taking transfers & pulled most personnel out of the cancer and dialysis units, among others.
Buuuut, couldn’t wear cloth masks because “that would scare patients”. Staff quarantine measures were abandoned after about a week. Sick leave prohibited. It pisses me off to no end.
Not to take away from the idiots with Covid quarantine… I did something very very dumb over the last 2 days.
I moved 50-64 bales of hay. By my self with the help of a tractor. Each bale was 25 lbs (first cut) to 50+ lbs (second cut) and with the help of a tractor I got all the feed rooms filled. Thankfully today was my last day of my work week for the day job.
I need to remember I’m not 20 anymore.
Not alone, I decided to move the round pen into a different position and moved panels here and there, forgetting I can’t any more.
After sitting down a bit and trying to get up again, felt like the Tin Man, needing to take an oilcan to all my joints, especially my back.
Finally could get going again with some interesting sound effects for the effort.
Getting old is not for sissies they say.
Amen! And I’m not even that old! It sucks feeling all the hurts.
I did get to end my day by showing my youngest lesson kid how to emergency dismount. Our poor school horse kept looking at me like “wtf lady why are you throwing yourself on the ground?”
Okay… Me & my tiny violin are back… Again…
Spoke to #2-the bus driver - Saturday.
“Still congested” & the Dr who told her going back to work was permissible was not her PCP, it was Urgent Care staff.
Since she has not been back to UC since being tested (11/8), my feeling is she asked then & was advised of the 10-day Isolation, but chose not to hear - or ignored - the If You Have No Symptoms caveat.
#3 still had symptoms Thursday, “felt better” yesterday & was planning on going to work today. See above re: isolation.
Now my Conundrum:
Both are members of my Driving Club.
Club Holiday party is set for 12/5, I am on the committee that will help setup at host’s house.
Host is unvaxed, had COVID in August, recovered & feels her antibodies are protection enough.
Most Club members are Old - 60s & up - & have various debilities (thanks, Age).
I called host last night, told her I will help setup, but if 2 & 3 are coming to the party, I’ll go home after that.
I’m not comfortable being in close contact, masked or unmasked, in a house with these 2 unless they retest before the party.
She told me she will try to think of a polite way to suggest to them that testing or staying home are their options.
And that she needs to think about how to let those who RSVP know there could be COVID risk if 2 & 3 won’t retest.
If you were in my place, would you call 2 & 3 to suggest they retest? Or leave it to host & skip the party except for helping before people arrive?
It would probably be as effective as spitting into the wind.
If they won’t listen to healthcare pros, they aren’t going to listen to you.
I would leave it to the host, but I would be a little tempted to let the party attendees know, depending on my “position” within the group (ie, are you considered to be one of the leaders?).
Host is not vaccinated? Will she will be wearing a mask then?
If not, I’d tell her that your Dr. advises against being to be indoors with unmasked unvaccinated people. Anyone who has recently had COVID or been exposed to people with COVID and has not been tested is to be avoided. For those reasons you are unfortunately unable to help. Then skip the set up and the party.
It’s not something to fool around with.
Do any of the other club members know about their fellow member’s COVID status? It seems rather reckless to intentionally expose them. I agree with Ghazzu, they probably won’t retest.
They don’t seem to care if they infect other people.
I’d just “DIVORCE” that group forever …
Aren’t you tired of all the blog smog - bs ?!
I am “this close” to divorce
They just keep piling it on.
Or…
Maybe I’m seeing more, losing the Friend Blinders?
Either way:
Yes, I’ll leave it to the unvaxed host to speak to the Heedless.
I am not a Club officer, but the officers are my closest Club friends. I’ll let them know why I will be skipping the party*
*Unless, miraculously, the COVsters get retested & come up negative
Footnote:
Got the appt for my booster for Friday.
Post- Thanksgiving
Pre-Party
That’s good, however everyone needs to keep in mind that the Delta variant is highly contagious and that vaccinated people can be infected, and asymptomatic, and spread the virus to others.
Now is not the time to stop taking precautions. Mask mask mask. Even then, vaccinated people can still contract the virus. I know of one ( fully vaccinated) who masks everywhere and tested positive, asymptomatic but quarantined for the safety of others.
12/5 is Krampusnacht. I say help set up. Then dress up in Krampus costume & lie in wait for 2 & 3 to arrive. Jump out growling & waving birch switches & chase them back to their car.
Not a human dumb but an equine dumb.
My idiot of a horse has a history of kicking. Last year about this time he stuck a leg through the fence and SOMEHOW was fine outside of being scrapped up.
GUESS WHO DID IT AGAIN AND ONLY GOT SCRAPPED UP?!?
What caused the dingbat to double barrel the fence? His mini mule friend got a new friend. Now he is convinced that side of the pasture bit him and refuses to leave the gate. 🤦
