The Daily Dumb

This is for the savage mare and her baby (the baby, for the record, has turned out VERY cute and sweet so far). Several days ago I noticed a thick, calloused looking wad of crap on the baby’s mane, skin level, about halfway down the neck. It’s so big it’s visible from outside the stall. It is VERY sensitive to the touch.

… several days go by, and yesterday I ask the owner what it is. She has no idea what I am talking about, because she hadn’t noticed it.

For crying out loud, lady. You have 4 horses. That’s a lot to handle, no doubt. But you are literally at the barn for 10+ hours a day (one of the reasons I was compelled to move, you can’t escape her). How is it that your TB is lame enough to be eliminated, has advanced white line disease in all 4 feet that you didn’t notice until the farrier pointed it out, your mustang needs groceries, your savage mare has extensive rain rot on her ass that you can’t touch because she’s such a jerk (had to tell her about that, too), and now the easy-to-handle sweet little baby has some weird growth on her mane that you can’t hardly touch it hurts so bad and you don’t notice?

Fewer horses, or more attention to them. Pick one.

I can’t wait to get out. Tick tock.

So, I’ve moved and now I’m replacing pots, pans, etc. from Amazon cuz it’s easy

I saw this 2 pack of rimmed pans with racks that fit inside. Looked nice made of good steel. Like 12x15 or so. I order them got them yesterday

:rofl::rofl: they’re about 5x8. I should have read more about them but they looked great in the picture!!!

They’ll fit one piece of fish each; which is really OK as I only cook for 1. But cripe. The little picture that came with them showed 12 cookies on the rack in the pan. So, there ya go

I have horrible vison in one eye so that sounds like a disaster for me, lol!

@modifiedequitation

There are fancy versions of these available as well. Look under “ladies”.

I think I freaked out trainer man with my face when he said he hadn’t had his trailer serviced - ever.

So he’s having it serviced… despite having told one of his clients that he would haul them this weekend.

So…

I’m the dumb, because I agreed to loan the client my smaller trailer to get to where they’re going. Drafting up a liability contract now…

Why do people lie about their past experiences?

Girl with the mustang -

“I worked at a warmblood stallion farm.”

Me, internally (that’s some weird wording for that) - “Yeah, which one?”

Her: “XYZ farm”

Me, internally (I know that farm well) - “oh cool, what kind of warmbloods are they?”

Her: “uh… Hanoverians.”

ahhhhh… Nope. Try again lady. They stand Oldenburgs and Swedish. I didn’t say anything but “huh, ok.”

Street credz? I don’t usually believe half of what people tell me they’ve done.

I am curious to know how trainer man’s trailer turns out, specifically those bearings that haven’t been touched in 20+ years. Ignorant people tend to have the best luck, but maybe he’s due for a rude awakening.

Well the fact that it wasn’t a 1 day turnaround should speak for itself…

Don’t you love a shit ending to a really lovely week long clinic? After a 10 hour drive we found out our awesome lesson pony passed. From the the tracks on the ground he passed before he hit the ground. Pour one out for the little guy and for my coworker who found him.

Oh I’m so sorry for your loss. :frowning: the lesson guys really dig into our hearts.

I’m so sorry to hear this, good schoolies are worth their weight in gold. Extra love to the person who found him and had to deal with the situation.

I’m the dumb today, or maybe my young mare is. Out on a trail ride, my friend is on my Old Man. Young mare is doing absolutely fantastic. We’re walking through a field with really tall grass, my mare starts to lead. Ok, she’s being great, why not.

Then I was on the ground.

She saw a small, as in basketball sized, patch of mud amongst the tall grass and exited stage left at Mach 2.

Ah well, I’m no worse for the wear outside of a maybe broken finger. Silly mare. At least she didn’t run off. Gave her a pat (and an eyeroll), got back on, and continued. Dork.

Ouch! Hope your finger is OK.

Mud eats horses, clearly you have not gotten the memo that it must be avoided, avoiding is urgent, not something to be done casually.

You need to explain to her that was not polite.
Next time to drop and teleport she needs to remember to take you along. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Daily dumb … a fellow boarder saw me giving a tube of dewormer and suggested I start feeding diatomaceous earth to my horse. She said her horses and her human family members get it, and it just “cleans you out” and deworms the horses. She’s “done lots of research.”

She also often asks me about what I feed and what grooming products I use because my horse is dappled and shiny and looking great. Ma’am, it’s not the brushes or the teeny daily handful of grain, it’s the fecal egg counts and vet-recommended deworming protocol!

I was the dumb today. Walked out to my lesson with no helmet on. Got the helmet (and air vest), and then realized I didn’t have my riding boots on either. :woman_facepalming:t2:

Lol! This is my stress dream!

I’m at a show and realize I’m not wearing my breeches, so a long, tedious search of vendors and really strange places ensues. Then I realize I’m missing my helmet, etc., etc., etc. I must have dreamed it dozens of times! :joy:

This was shortly before my incident today.

Here’s the map of where I ate dirt.:rofl:

@lw3127 I’m CONSTANTLY forgetting my helmet in the winter, because I have a hat on. My brain goes - something is on your head you’re good. You sound like you need a cup of coffee
