Funny story: In one of my first postings (I lurked for a long time) I made an incorrect statement regarding a horse’s racing record. Glimmerglass blasted me. Correctly. I learned to check my facts after that!

I don’t know what you do as a trainer. I thought you were a respectable, reliable trainer who cared about their horses and did the right thing by them. You were in it for the horses and love of the sport, and NOT necessarily the money. Whether you agreed with me or not, you were among the VERY FEW ON THIS SITE I thought were worth listening to when it came to HORSES and the skills associated with their training.

As an aside, I would not joke about “popping a pill” before tacking my horse up on the backstretch and your associated questionable housekeeping habits. The Internet is a small world, and nothing is secure. So even though you are being cynical in making the referenced statements, in the wrong hands, the words you posted could give you more of a headache than you deserve. When taken out of context, you just painted a less-than-favorable picture of yourself as a trainer. I am assuming that is NOT your intent. You may wish to rethink them.

Does this website struggle with decency and manners? All that is required is the response, “Thank you for asking, but I just don’t address that topic.” The way I was raised, kindness really doesn’t hurt.

It is not this website that is struggling with decency and manners.
It might behoove you to follow the advice you were raised with as opposed to your current “style” and “housekeeping”.

I apologize if my congratulations on their retirement to Laurierace and career come across as congratulatory and rude, but I can’t help but admire their commitment to the racing industry throughout their long career and wish them a well-deserved retirement! I can understand the difficulties of being a racehorse trainer, and I hope they enjoy every second of this new chapter in their lives. This was the message I was expressing but failed to share. I have NO reason to be rude to them, and apologies for the hurt any rudeness and my miscommunication may have caused.

The sudden need to CYA… is interesting. You are right though - you have NO reason to be rude to anyone here and yet you have delighted in it. You have revelled in it. You have presented yourself as a great sage blasting in here to educate us.

Osphos has been banned for years so doubtful. I know being banned doesn’t mean that people won’t still try to get away with using it anyway but the penalty for getting caught is so high I can’t imagine risking it.

This may sound callous - but here goes… somewhere today, at least 3 horses probably died at some tracks far from Churchill Downs… at least 3 died at some training farm somewhere… at least 5 mares bled out after foaling… at least 10 died in their own stalls or pastures, at least 2 died at vet hospitals, at least 3 died at auction marts/holding pens… etc. etc.

… and I just went out to bring horses in and our sweet little 29 year old mini mare had died curled up under her favorite tree in the shade. I tarped her to keep the coyotes off her tonight and will lay her to rest in the morning.

And without any media hovering like drooling vultures… nobody outside of the connections of any of those horses cared or gave a sh*t. Nobody noticed. There were no headlines. Nobody got OMG!!! OUTRAGED!!! Nobody posted lengthy scathing posts on FB or on COTH. Nobody will be incensed about any of it - because they were not told to be…
